The Irish buffet breakfast is pretty good and they start serving at 7 am. Lunch on a Sunday starts at 12:30 pm at McShane's. A plate of veggies comes with each entree. The burgers were good, the steaks were chewy and over cooked, the salads were fresh, and large portion size on every order. Fitness center opens at 8 am and the workout equipment and the treadmills are very old. Saw a lot of duct tape on a couple of them. Wifi was quite horrible. My first room 225 could barely connect. Switched to room 209 and it was a bit better. Both rooms had plenty of stains on the carpet and very old flatscreen TVs. Heavy doors kept opening and closing and you could hear each one of them. Thin walls so heard other people's conversations and their TV throughout the day and night. I'm guessing everything's original since the 1980s...

The staff are amazing, they go above and beyond to look after their guests from reception, bar staff and restaurant. They just make you feel so welcome. Now I will say that the hotel is looking a little dated and could really do with an upgrade. But other than that I would highly recommend a stay here. The food is fab, sadly the bar is no longer open downstairs near the lobby but their is a very nice bar called the Bentley Bar on the first floor. Worth checking out. We always get a beautiful room and this was it was on the 4th floor and very spacious, good size bathroom but shower not great for someone with disabilities. Step to high into it. But nice bathtub. Will be going back soon for a visit and to see family.

The Irish are an object of fascination and ubiquitous in the US. I worked in an Irish Pub for 8 years and many of my best friends are from Ireland. Still, I am going to judge by my standards, assuming that people that read this think the same way I do. The Breaffy house is Beautiful from the outside. It's an old mansion that looks like it should be haunted. The lobby and hallways downstairs are the same. However, the interior decor is 1980s modern. The staff is very friendly, but no matter how much they want to navigate you through the halls, the place is confusing. Also, it seem all of the exits are used for smoking immediately at the bottom, so the hallways continuously smell like an ashtray. They have a cool lounge area, and the bar seems like a hotel pub. No stools at the bar, but really cool stuffed chairs and a side room. The Restaurant seemed eh. I wish the place would have had a little more going on as it was a bit of a drive into Castlebar. Also, it claims trails around the grounds, but really it seems the trail is more of a path around a small pond. When I think trail, I think at least a half of a km. Also, you have to wear a swim cap in the pool and jacuzzi. I am not Euro enough to do that. All in all, I still would suggest the place, but dont venture in with high hopes or expecting to spend a lot of time hanging in the hotel

This is a complete package…read more Lough Lannagh is a number of different services all rolled into one. 1- Bed and Breakfast 2- Self Catering Accommodation 3-Catered Events 4-Conference/Training/Meeting Services 5-Caravan park 6-Fitness Centre/Gym I have attended meeting here, conferences here and have held trainings here. Staff are pleasant to deal with. Fixtures and fittings are getting a small bit dated. Food is always homely and tasty. I've had breakfast and lunch here numerous times. Parking is a small issue but we always managed to find somewhere.

Lovely older hotel with great bars in the area…read more Very quaint hotel with restaurant, bar, fireplace, amazing views from your hotel room looking over at the River Moy. You can walk to the bar Joe Biden set his feet in at the corner or walk across the street and sit in some very authentic Irish Bars that smelt like they were burning some peet for fire if I didn't know any better! Some houses in County Mayo still burn peet for fire even though I believe it is illegal now, to me it smells nice : ) We spent about three nights at this hotel and there is some shopping you can do in the area and if you get really adventurous, I think you can even do some clay shooting nearby. Set within the grounds, beside our private stretch of the River Moy, is the Mount Falcon Clay Pigeon Shooting Ground (be sure to research on your own as we did not shoot but we drove by the area to snap some pics of the beautiful surroundings.). The Train station is located very close to the hotel which made it fairly easy traveling. I hope to visit this area again in my lifetime and this trip really made me want to hit the lotto so I can travel more places that I never heard of and just soak up the moment and enjoy life. Very nice hotel in the centre of an admittedly smallish town with everything within walking…read moredistance. The free car park was a bonus that' was much appreciated. Room was comfortable and well appointed for our two night stay. On the first night, we ate in the restaurant - a practice I usually avoid but it was a long drive from Dublin and many restaurants in the town were closed on a Monday night. That said, the meal was surprisingly good. My deep fried cod was on the right side of fishiness with just the right amount of batter, My other half's vegetable Indian curry was, reportedly, pretty good too. My 'dessert' was a very moreish Espresso Martini but as I was theoretically here for work I eschewed a second. However, on our final night here, a tour party of, shall we say 'seniors', were populating the reception area and 'enjoying' a singalong with what I'm guessing was a local wedding band. Excruciating noise and made the bar uninhabitable. A pity. Would happily stay here again if I'm in the neighbourhood so long as there are no 'concerts' on !! Recommended on all fronts (apart from the concert!).

In my opinion though, there are 3 reasons that make this a spot worth visiting - AMAZING food. I got 2 starters the first night, deep fried brie and the steamed mussels. Both were absolutely out of this world. Some people ordered steaks so large it looked like half a cow had been sacrificed to provide them. The prawns wrapped in filo pastry were also very tasty. Even the crab was fantastic - and I don't particularly like crab! Basically, all of the seafood here was just stunningly good and beautifully cooked. - Such warm welcoming staff. So so friendly and helpful - Beautiful views overlooking the bay. A wonderful place to stay for the weekend or to go for a bite to eat.

Our room was medium sized - we've had some bigger and some smaller during our Ireland trip. We had a dinner and a breakfast here. Dinner was great. I started with a nice blue cheese and pear salad that I really enjoyed. My entrée was a plain old cheeseburger that honestly was stellar! It was piled high with sautéed onions and served with a tomato relish, side salad and French fries. Breakfast was buffet style and if you wanted a full Irish Breakfast you could assemble all of the necessary components. We saw one breakfast choice for the very first time on our Ireland trip -watermelon !
