This morning, when I went to the front desk to check out, the general manager (Sat) said she was made aware of the situation and said she would give only be able to give us 50% off because they didn't make us sleep in the dirty room and now they would have to clean both rooms. I contacted the Interior Health department and then returned to the front desk to get a receipt and was told by the GM that she was planning to give us a full discount but then decided against it because I didn't want a solution to the issue and only wanted a free room. Do not stay here if you expect clean rooms and respectful management.

The ATM and vending machines were not in working order but the staff somehow managed to find a few bottles of water, Were told we could check out when our ride arrived. Continental breakfast was served. Once again a huge shout out to the staff at the front desk. Courteous,friendly and extremely accommodating. They gave us the hospital rate which was better than just the room rate. Over all I was impressed.

Pros: the rate was cheap; updated bathroom with good water pressure; beds were comfy…read more Cons: air conditioner was loud and did not work very well...dark, poorly lit room; the floor we were on was accessible only by stairs which is a hassle if you have heavy luggage; the parking area is small and unsecured. The evening staff were kind of unattentive and talked to each other about personal topics while 'helping' us, and I was NOT impressed by them smoking right next to front entrance. (on several occasions) However the morning lady was very friendly and efficient, which somewhat made up for her coworkers.. Overall I wasn't wowed but I guess you get what you pay for!

The very last time I stayed at the sandman the room next to me was obnoxiously loud and would not quite down. This time I wanted to try somewhere new. After searching I found this place I stayed at this location a couple years back. So I thought I would try it again. I was chatting with the front desk and she said the hotel just finished a complete renovation and staff change, even the beds were new. I was extremely happy with my choice the beds did feel new and I enjoyed how quite and clean everything was. There is also a safeway right next to the hotel I love their tomato soup.

And for 99% of the time, it would not be important but for some it is. What it is, is great value. The rooms are large and nicely furnished. Beds are clean and comfortable. Coffee maker, TV, internet all included. Balcony's are deep and wide. There are some kitchenettes, we did not get one of those rooms. Great office staff. Cheerfully professional and helpful. The lady at the front, whom i assumed was the owner, was peeking in my room at 10am, one hour before check out. Granted she was watering flowers, but totally an invasion of privacy. On top of that she scolded me for wiping down the inside of my car with a motel towel, was completely rude, and continued giving me scowls and dirty looks until i left. A good experience made completely uncomfortable with just a few looks. Otherwise the place is clean, has a few rattles and other noises in the rooms, and is a comfortable space. The room I had looked to be recently remodeled except for the very old lumpy, creaky, uncomfortable bed. It turned out not to be a problem for me, read on! I had been driving all day from Prince Rupert, it was almost 11 pm and I needed a place to sleep before continuing. I still had a 12 hour drive ahead of me. The Stampeder Motel was the first one I saw so I stopped in. The walkway to the office was a solid sheet of ice. I. Slipped and fell several times before finding a safe route to the door. I mentioned it to the manager while checking in but he didn't seem to want to be bothered. He did toss a piece of cardboard on the slickest spot after we were done. He explained the wifi and gave me the password. I realized the TV didn't work when I got to the room. I called the office but wasn't offered a fix or a room change. He did offer a refund for the room if I didn't want to stay. The phone fell apart during this and after putting it back together, decided to stay and use the wifi. Then I tried to log onto the wifi, I couldn't get any of the motel's routers to show up on my iPad or iPhone. I walked over to the office with my iPad to see if I could get some help. I had to knock and wait for a while before the manager came out. When he did his behavior was beyond belief. He began cursing and screaming at me before I even told him why I was there. I turned on my video recorder as I was astounded by his behavior and didn't know what else to do. Watch the video but be warned he uses salty language. When they showed up, they told him he didn't need my ID and if he bothered me in my room anymore they would arrest him. I got the feeling they had prior dealings with him. I checked out early due to the poor conditions and still refused to refund the last day. Stayed 48 hour cancellation policy which is ridiculous and not listed anywhere. Rooms are dated and smell bad, owner smokes everywhere. There was an ant infestation in our first room and he just offered a can of Raid then grudgingly offered a new room. Do not stay here. Rooms cost the same as at any of the much nicer hotels in town.
