We were sent Stewart as our Driver and he was wonderful! He took us to the coast and we saw lovely views and heard how the UlsterScots and the US are tied together in our history. He had great stories and we enjoyed talking with him. His wife made treats that he gave us and they were truly delicious! We had her amazing shortbread with our whiskey and I am not sure I will be able to drink whiskey without shortbread from now on they compliment each other so well. He dropped some our party in downtown Belfast for shopping and took the remainder back to port. This was the perfect way for us to see the Giant's Causeway and Belfast. read more

AVOID!!!! Booked a taxi at 16:45 for 23:45 for a lift to guarantee a lift home. Taxi rang 5 minutes before due to arrive, it was unfortunately missed, when rang back immediately they said 59 minute wait, contacted again to express our concerns as we were stranded in Belfast with no way home due to them cancelling one minute before pick up, woman on phone was extremely rude and confrontational stating the roads were closed which was lies as there was traffic coming and going from both sides. So unhelpful and has left us having to walk 90 minutes home after midnight. Do not use!!!!! read more

Didn't bother showing up after 2 girls called twice in 75 minutes standing on side of road at night. An event manager felt sorry for us and rang a third time on our behalf. We ended up flagging down a taxi and paying 30 for a 19 quid journe just to get back safe (must remember to hide the Irish accent next time!!!!) read more

DO NOT BOOK! We booked a day tour with them, called them multiple times across 2 weeks before the tour, itinerary discussed on call and on email, extra spots and charges were discussed on email as well. We even called the day before to check if driver was allocated and what he thought of the itinerary suggestion but no driver was allocated until the day of the tour and he was unaware of the itinerary or the email exchange between us and the company where everything was discussed. He totally dismissed the email thread and agreed terms and charged us based on the meter when prices were already discussed with the company. When we called ValueCabs after the tour, they admitted the discussions had taken place but did nothing to resolve the issue. In fact, they hung up on us mid-conversation. The website states they take card payments, but the driver claimed he will charge more with card payment so we have to get cash. Our driver (Lea) was not a guide at all -- he barely spoke throughout the trip, offered no information about the sites, and showed no engagement whatsoever. We've done many tours across the UK, and this was by far the most unprofessional and disappointing experience we've ever had. Avoid ValueCabs at all costs. Poor communication, unprofessional behaviour, and zero accountability. read more

This is probably one of the worst taxi services I have ever used, they don't give any ETAs for your taxi to arrive and if you're in a queue for one, there is no indication that you are. After the first 15 minutes that my prebooked cab didn't arrive, I phoned and was told it would be another 15 minutes. 15 minutes passed and I phoned again for them to tell me it would be another 20 minutes. Honestly one of the worst taxi service providers I have ever had the displeasure of using. At least give some warning if it's going to be disastrously late. read more

Terrible company to deal with who just do not care about their customers at all. Used their app to book a cab, got a notification to say it was 2 minutes away so went outside to wait. It didn't turn up, yet we were standing outside and then got a notification to say it had arrived. I called their office only for them to tell me the taxi was in Glengormley not Whiteabbey and had picked up its fare. The guy on the phone couldn't care less about what happened and only would say we would have to book another and be added to a priority list. That was it, no apologies, nothing. Taxis are so busy at night nowadays they just don't care about complaints, not enough taxis for customers, so they couldn't give a monkeys, they have the business and people complaining can just jog on. I knew when I started writing for Yelp that Value Cabs was going to be my first and possibly only one star review. Rip-off merchants indeed, as Nick S says. 'Value' Cabs are the only company I will never ring or flag down, even when it's 3am, tipping it down and I've been trying to get home for an hour. Seriously. They're that bad. A mate of mine calls them No-Value Cabs, and how right he is. The meter seems to tick over faster with Value Cabs than any other taxi firm, although of course that could just be my perception. So let's focus on hard facts, such as the time I was charged EIGHT QUID from the Limelight to Eglantine Avenue beside the Bot. When I said Here be's me wha, the driver became very unpleasant and insisted on the fare and that he wasn't Fon A Cab. The meter wasn't even on so he'd clearly made the fare up. Alas, I only had a ten pound note, and this was in my younger, less assertive, days, so I was unable to throw a fiver at him and tell him to drive me to the cop shop if he didn't like it. Well, any firm can have a rogue driver, I hear Value Cabs justify. Clearly. So when I got in that night, still reeling from the sheer cheek and nastiness of the driver, I rang the depot, enquired about the cost of an average fare for a journey of about a mile, and asked to speak to the manager. I got a cheeky little millie on the switchboard who kept hanging up on me, even though I was only asking for the manager's name - she had severe customer service skills shortage, but the taxi fare hadn't been her fault so of course I wasn't going to take it out on her. I was firm but polite throughout. No go. So I wrote a detailed letter of complaint...and heard nothing. Again, it was in my younger and less assertive days so I didn't know what else to do from there. Now, however, I'd ring the Consumer Council for advice (on 9076 2488), and not let it go. I've heard so many stories similar to this, and about drivers deliberately taking long circuitous routes, and frankly I'd rather walk home in the rain than ever use No-Value Cabs again. read more

I think they are losing it. Not only are they the most expensive taxi firm that I've used in Belfast, and with all thier fancy equipment and GPRS's and so forth - maybe they even have Sonic Screwdrivers a la 'The Doctor', they recently have been a bit of a let down. We called them recently to our flat to collect my somewhat 'merry' Mother and Father who had been up for dinner - we got the fancy notification text to say that they were outside - no sign. Called them. Them: "He's outside love." Me: "Erm, no he's not." Them: "Aye he is so he is." Me: "No, he bloody isn't." Them: "Right, 'haul on we will get back to ya." Turned out they'd sent him to Victoria Square! Now, I won't divulge details but this is NOWHERE near where I live and does NOT in ANY way sound like my address. The same thing happened last Saturday as my husband and I waited outside the Bengal Brasserie for a Value Cab - got the text. Looked outside. No taxi. Called them....same type of conversation ensued during which they had to dispatch a second taxi. Shame...they used to be good! read more

I like Value Cabs. Quite often I need to get a taxi home to Bangor and it usually comes in at £17 which is decent enough, but what I like is that its always the same price. You're not gonna get some wide-boy trying to rip you off. They're professional, clean, friendly and reasonably priced. I think that is all you can really look for or expect from a taxi firm. The drivers I've had have been dead on enough and never talk all too much, which is what I hate the most about taxi drivers. Definitely a solid enough taxi firm, not one I would have any problems in recommending to anyone. read more

Shared a value cab home from a night out with 3 other girls, my stop was first, when I gave some money towards the taxi fare at the time of my stop to the taxi driver I received abuse from him saying that I had to pay the whole fare from the beginning of the journey as he was restarting the meter from my destination for the remainder of the girls stops, when I told him I would pay it but what he was doing was completely unjust and ripping me off, he told me to fuck off and give him the money and get out, completely shocking customer service and a horrendous way to speak to a young girl, has made me never want to take a value cab again read more

Silver Skoda Reg No. GJ18 KNY I had an incident the other week, where I had a driver who tried to overcharge me for a ride. Mind you, I use the cabs normally to get to work, so the fare costs are more than just slightly familiar to me, so there was no mistake. I remember getting into the cab, and the set fare for the first half of the mile all the sudden jumping up, without us even leaving the yard!!!(so that's pretty much trying to charge me extra 4 pounds for turning the car around, thinking I would be stupid enough not to notice). In the end of the trip, I asked politely if there was 3,50 beginning charge for the first half of the mile, to which he responded "yes". Then I asked why the charge of 3,50 changed before we even close to reach that distance, as it should have remained the same till the actual roundabout. And that's where verbal abuse started. The driver started to tell me I was "stupid", I did not know what I was talking about, and the "cherry on top was" when he told me I was "fucked in the head", YES, that's the exact words, and that he would call the police. Any attempts with talking sense and explaining calmly were just met with more aggression and verbal abuse. Yelled so loudly, that all of my work mates heard him. I asked for his badge number, and took a photo of his registration plate, and all of the sudden he was "meeting me halfways" saying he could "accept" lesser charge. Vile service, mentally unstable individual, who tried to SCAM me,verbally ABUSED me, and then THREATENED me for pointing it out?? Use someone elses service. read more

I had to get a taxi this morning as I forgot that busses were on Saturday timetables today. The taxi arrived on time, but the taxi driver already had the meter running when I got in (I know it's a £2.40 base charge, but he had the meter running already). That's not all. We arrived outside Botanic Station and he parked the car and switched the engine off. The taxi meter read £6.70, and I fumbled around my bag for change. I had a £2 coin and was looking for a £5 note. As I grabbed my £5 note, the taxi meter went up to £6.80! The engine was switched off and we were parked, yet the meter was still running! The taxi driver went 'ohhhp' as if showing he saw the meter go up, and he only gave me 20p change! I handed the £7 in confidence that he would charge me the real price. Value Cabs is pretty much exactly the same as its main rival, FonaCab, the only really difference being the name (actually. I even think they charge the same rates), but I seem to have had more problems with them than FonaCab, so for that reason, they're my second favourite of the big taxi firms. These problems I've had haven't been huge, just regular taxi problems - like not being able to get one on a Saturday for instance! - so not really worth boycotting them over. My advice? Store the number - you'll be glad you did! read more

I most remember Value Cabs for that really annoying ad that used to be on the Radio, actually it is probably still on regional radio I just switched off to it after I had hear it 3,000 times. It goes a little something like this: "Value Cabs on 90 80 90 80, yes that's right its Value Cabs on 90 80 90 80. That number again is Value Cabs on 90 80 90 80!" You might read that and think that the ad wasn't too bad and I was overreacting but imagine hearing that in the most annoying accent on you way to school every day at 7.30am. You tell me that wouldn't grate on you. Anyway this taxi company are pretty good but I would quite like to speak to the advertising time who came up with the jingle. They are cheap and will tend to have a stand off with Fona Cab for the cheapest fare, so if you say that their rivals did it for cheaper then they will probably knock a few pounds off. read more

When we phoned them to ask where our taxi was they told us that there wasn't enough drivers. The second time I phoned to ask if the taxi was on the way they put me on hold and then hung up. They knew we were going to the Airport, so why didn't they let us know earlier or ideally just after booking that there was not enough drivers? We had to wake up a neighbour in the early hours of the morning to take us to the airport, we only just made the flight because it had been delayed. We will never use value cabs again. Do not use them if going to the airport, you could miss your flight. I would rate them zero stars if I could. A long time regular customer lost. read more

Ordered a taxi after a house party to get friends home, through the app and accidentally used my card. I was charged £11.70. The driver charged them cash as well and he would have known because he has to authorise the card payment in the car at the end of the trip. - £15 - A complete disgrace. Last week I was in Belfast with my wife and seconds after getting out of a Value Cab I realised I had stupidly managed to drop my phone in the cab. After phoning the (very sympathetic) Value Cabs office, they managed to liaise with the driver and even though he had gone on a break in order to take his mother somewhere, he agreed to meet me where he had dropped me off to return the phone, so I didn't even need to go to their offices. As he pulled over on the road he passed me the phone through his window, and apart from expressing to him how incredibly grateful I was, I tried to pass him £20 as an expression of gratitude - he point blank refused to take it from me, and as I continued to try and insist he simply acknowledged my gratitude but drove off. I have no idea what the name of the driver was, but if even a handful of Value Cab drivers are like him then I will use no other firm whenever I am in Belfast. I remain indebted to him for being so kind despite my carelessness/stupidity. read more

Value Cabs is the big boy in Belfast Taxis. The drivers will tell you ever exaggerating tales of how many drivers there are (about a million if you believe them) and how rich the owners are. Everyone in Belfast knows Value Cabs and their uniformed drivers who are all 'undergoing training to be NI Tourist Board Hosts' which is good news and to be fair an indication of how professional these guys are. They do a lot of corporate account work so if you're in belfast on business you may well travel in a Value Cab. I have never seen a single peice of dirt or rubbish in one of their cars but that might actually be the only downside - some of the cars are so clean you're almost afraid to contaminate the atmosphere by breathing out. Some of these men (and the occassional woman) are seriously uptight about their cars. Who said obsessive? Harsh. What really tickles me is that once you have called Value Cabs once, they have a system which retains your address so that the next time you call, you don't even have to speak to anyone to order a cab. I have never had a driver turn up late, even on New Years Eve. In fact, the drivers are usually early but will wait outside without tooting the horn, starting the meter or doing anything to raise the old stress levels. A top service from these guys. read more

Booked a taxi 3 and a half hours up front on the app to lift us from the SSE. Walked to the pick up spot and waited on the taxi arriving, then we noticed him in the traffic with other people in the car. when confronted and he was showed the booking on the phone with his registration on it, he denied having a booking for that time and drove off, leaving us stranded needing to catch a bus in 15 minutes. Terrible service. Booked before 7am for a pickup at 25 to 8 via the app which said I could get a cab in 8 minutes. Waited until 5 to 8, no sign of the taxi so I phoned Value. It hadn't even been dispatched yet and wouldn't be for at least another 20 minutes! Clueless, useless phone operator said that a driver had picked it up and then rejected it - one would imagine the company would then inform the customer that their taxi wouldn't be arriving anywhere near the booking time??? I've never had terrible service like this from Fona Cab, will definitely be sticking with them in the future. read more

Had an incident last night with driver 403 and it was handled disgustingly. I was left to walk nearly three miles home at 3am in the centre of the city. As a young woman left to walk alone at this time, I am adamant that I will never step foot inside a value cab again. I used to use them religiously as I felt they were respected and reputable and trusted that what happened to me would never happen. Now I've been proven wrong I will definitely be using FonaCab in the future. I am extremely lucky that I have the personality I have and could handle the situation and just hope that a more vulnerable person is not put in the same one. read more

never ring value cabs for anything!!! SILVER MERCEDES Reg. No. PFZ 9169 my mate ordered taxi at 2:30am from another mate's house, we both got into the car, from Chatsworth Street to Chiviot Street where my mate was dropped off was all going ok. the driver took a very crowded street to come out to the main road (Newtownards road if i am right). i saw right away that there was a car approaching us on this single lane street as both sides have parked cars. value cab driver did not stop so both cars stopped halfway the street. both cars did not move the for about 5 minutes and was kind of provoking the other car's driver. finally when VC driver decided to reverse, it took him over 10 minutes to get out of the street as he was moving walking pace. i thought it was really slow as the street is wide enough for one car to reverse. i did not say anything so as not to create any awkward atmosphere. although the meter says £8 already, and we are not even 1 mile away from the point of pick up. the VC driver then asked where i was going, when its clearly saying on his phone Falls Road.. i told him anyway, he said he does not know where is Falls Road is and i have to give him directions. Here is where i reacted. thinking that maybe because i didn't react the first time he thought maybe that i was new to the city and that he can get more money for driving around Belfast. Told him i doubt that he doesn't know Falls as its one of the main Road in Belfast. We argued and i mentioned about his meter and the way he drove on that street, then he told me to get out of the car and took £5 from me. This was at 3AM on a rainy night, he threw me out of car at the bottom of the bridge opposite St George Harbour Appartments. It was very cold and i was quite scared because its quite far from where i live. Luckily i had 5% battery on my phone and was able to ring FONA CAB. i got home SAFE... Same day at 4PM i rang their depot to complain about what happened, i was told that a manager will keep in touch. 9 days later i didn't get any phone calls, so i decided to ring again. spoke to another person who wouldn't give his name and told me that someone will ring me again, when i asked when specifically he just replied in a COLD manner that HE DON'T know when. he argued about it and said he cant do anything about it. It's the WORST customer service I've ever experienced in my whole life. I have uninstalled their app right away and would never ever gonna ring their depot, and will make sure that all my friends and colleagues are not using VALUE CABS again ever. and will go on every review online and mention this experience. read more

We had a white-knuckle ride home in one of their taxi at the weekend, the driver almost crashed the car, and we asked the driver to slow down twice. When we phoned the depot from the cab to complain and ask for another taxi, the driver threatened to kill us. Seriously. Dangerous driving and threats to kill. Do you want to take that risk? Booked a 7 seater taxi 2 days before myself and 6 friends were going to International airport for a family holiday. The pick-up was arranged for 3am on the 16/6/2017. At 1.30 am on the 16/6/2017 i got a call from Value cabs to say no 7seater available and we would have to take 2 taxi's. What could i say as we had to get to the airport. Value Cabs is one of the 'big two' in terms of cab companies in Belfast. They operate in very much the same way their arch enemies Fona Cab, in that they use a system which gives drivers digital notifications whenever someone within a few miles of them rings their automated service ( the auto-mated service comes with land line calls). It's probably the cheaper out between the two big cab companies, but I still prefer Fona Cab. I've no idea why, but everyone has their favourites! read more

I wish I hadn't believed the negative reviews on here before booking a cab when six of us visited Belfast last weekend!! I booked with another company who let us down and we were stuck at the airport for an hour! We eventually gave up hope of our pre-booked taxi coming to get us and phoned Value Cabs. Daniel picked us up and took us to our accommodation then spent the rest of the weekend taking us EVERYWHERE we needed to go. He always showed up on time, entertained us and looked after us, even sending us a wee text to make sure we got back to Scotland ok. Couldn't recommend more! read more

I suppose it really depends on which one you favour out of the two big names in taxis in the city - Fona Cab or Value Cabs. I've always used the former and although I've been let down maybe a handful of times in general they are one of the most reliable and speedy companies out there. I've had less success with Value. I remember waiting for 15mins for a cab to arrive (I gave them a reasonable amount of time to get there but I was in a serious rush) and when I gave them a call they checked where I was going to, that was fine and then they said...picking up from the John Hewitt? To which I replied no. (I was at home) Things like that have let them down a little and I suppose you do get stuck with one or the other. They do a good job generally though but still wouldn't be my preferred option for repeat business. read more

What a horrendous company. Booked a taxi for 1am at 10pm on their app, I phoned 4 times from 1am onwards and was palmed off with all sorts of excuses. Finally got a taxi near 2am. Refused to pay full price out of principle. Was made to feel guilty etc and told to pay full price. I refused. I'll NEVER use this company again and I'll tell all my colleagues and associate companies to avoid. Not the first time they've let me down.....terrible service. Sad. read more
