One of the very first things my mom and I did while on holiday and visiting Belfast was take the Black Taxi Tour. I was able to arrange the date/time via an email inquiry a few months before our trip. Norman picked us up from our Air BnB and took us around Belfast - including to the Peace Wall and the gated Catholic area. He was a wealth of information, answered our many questions, and made frequent stops so we could take pictures. It was £45 for two of us, and well worth it for an amazing private tour! I highly recommend Norman and Black Taxi Tours: it was honestly one of the highlights of our holiday!

What an am amazing tour! It started off when I forgot to book a tour. I emailed Belfast Attractions at 8pm at night. Minutes later, we had a tour book at our optimal time. When we met Patrick the next day, we were floored with the volume of personal and historical information he provided. He didnt just drive us around, but rather stopped for photos, stopped at museums and showed us many pictures. The extra time he gave us really helped us delve into the Troubles and see everything from both sides. Our group had a personal touch and felt the emotions given by Patrick. When back in Belfast, we will book again!

Our driver for the day, Mark Murphy, was amazing from the moment he met us at our cruise ship in his pristine black Mercedes. He was professional, yet made us feel very comfortable, well taken care of and like we were touring with an old friend. As we drove out of Belfast towards the Antrim Coast, Mark told us the history of The Troubles through his own very personal experiences growing up...it was fascinating and so very sad finding out that so much of what happened was never fully shared with the American public. Mark asked if we had a specific itinerary that we wanted keep to for the day and we told him to show us everything he thought we needed to see in our limited 8 hours in port. We were so very impressed with the sights that we saw...Mark completely out did himself and exceed all of our expectations!! That being said, our day included...Bushmills Distillery, The Dark Hedges of King's Road (amazing photos and fun props included!!), Dunluce Castle, Giants Causeway, Ballycastle, Ballintoy Harbour, Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge (where we enjoyed a light lunch at the small gift shop), the Parliament Building, Hollywood Gold Club, Hamilton Dock, a personalized tour of the Catholic and Protestant communities of Belfast, the Peace Wall (which we signed), and a distant peek at the Titanic Studios (GoT was filming so we weren't able to get past security). Yes...we REALLY did all of that. We had THE MOST amazing day touring with Mark!!! He took a lot of photos for us (it was like having our own personal photographer for the day) and gave us the opportunity to spend the amount of time that we wanted to spend in each location. And...we always seemed to be well ahead of the tour buses that were traveling throughout the area, too. When family and friends ask what are favorite part of our 3 week vacation was...we tell them our tour in Belfast. Honestly. Simply amazing!!

Picked up a flyer for this brand of black taxi tours and saw that they received a tripadvisor certificate of excellence and picked it over the others. The taxi drivers, from my understanding of ours, are all local and were involved in the troubles at some point or another, and many had been to jail for it--so you get the real stories and get a through explanation of the murals on both sides, however if you only want one they will accommodate to that. Much better than doing a bus tour of them. I thought we would have seen more of the city and not just murals, but it was great and we got more than we bargained for time wise--supposed to be 90 minutes but we got 2 hours because there was a history major in the car and the driver wanted to show us more than he usually does.

We traveled on back roads that tour buses aren't able to go. He showed us 6 hours worth of views including caves where Lord of the Rings filmed, a small village with quaint restaurants, the Giants Causeway, and millions of sheep. (private joke) Please reward Stephen appropriately, a great asset to your name and company! Please thank him for us, sincerely the Vermonters!

As soon as you walk through the baggage reclaim area and through the automatic guillotine like doors you'll see the wee Value Cabs Booth right in front of you. From here the process is simple - the smiling member of staff will give you a card that has a code on it and all you have to do is walk straight out of the airport exit and hand your coded card to a concierge who will point you in the direction of a vacant taxi. Value Cabs make this whole process so simple. You can be in a taxi and on your way to your destination within 10 minutes of landing at the City Airport. The taxis are metered so you won't be paying over the odds and there are no hidden airport fees. If you're really lucky you might get a driver who listens to Classic FM like I did, this made the trip super serine. I've had a few good taxi experiences recently but it was the simplification of the taxi booking service and the speed of which I could continue my journey, which really stood out. I would recommend this way of onward travel to tourists visiting Belfast!
