Picked out a sofa, got it to my house, the color was off, delivery guys unprofessional, called the store, was very surprised they were able to reach out to them, that's just beginning, talked to sales person he told me to return and they'll deliver another one delivery guys immediately left my condo sales person told me that's the color just a little off because of the light in the store. I told him tell the delivery guys just come back. He told me they said no they were done for the day now mind you it was only 10 minutes after they left my house no one contacted me the next week. I had to reach out to the store, which is very hard to get through to them and end up canceling my order because to start off with the service is horrible. I don't know what the word value means in the name, but I'll deff say it isn't for the price. The stuff they have for sale is very pricey. However, it is nice. I will admit they have a big store and quality stuff but it is expensive and their payment plans aren't the best. Another thing I found different was that they have reps there all over that are there to help you which is good but they can pressure a bit like if they got some commission off the sales. Value city is the worst because I purchase a Queen bedroom set with a headboard, took the day off and discarded my own bed just to be told that an automated voicemail tried contacting me the day before telling me it would be a month later. ​ I wish that I could give no stars I recently purchased a Sealy Posturepedic plus mattress after only two and a half months it develops a sinkhole in it I went back to the store and told them about it they sent out a technician to take measurements of the mattress for what I don't know however the technician said there was nothing wrong with the mattress although the sinkhole was staring him directly in the face I paid $1,300 for this mattress and now I am stuck within imperfect mattress I asked the lady at the front desk do they sell refurbished mattress and she told me sometimes yes if it is repairable they will fix it and resell it I was told that my mattress was brand new however I can clearly see that was not true the only person that sleeps on the mattress is myself and I only weigh 130 lb so my advice to anyone shopping at Value City don't I guess it's called value City for a reason. read more

Let me start by stating my wait time for a call to the IRS was a lot shorter than the time I spent on hold for this store! How many couches and chairs can you be selling that it takes over 35 minutes for someone to pick up a call. I waited just to see how long they would have me on hold after a manger answered and said let me check on this for you; well my hold time again was over 35 minutes UNACCEPTABLE for any store that want return customers! I got my furniture here around Feb/March. For my experience it was good so I recommended my cousin to go get her furniture here. I bought it for her and delivery was suppose to be late September (we bought it August 25) so on top of waiting a month, they changed her delivery time to another month. So far she's been waiting almost 2 months for a couch. Come on, who does that? Now it is October 15, this is getting out of hand. After this experience I don't think I'll ever recommend people who ask about our furniture to go here. Value city has nice furniture. The staff that they have working in their delivery warehouse is so unprofessional and rude. They do not know how to talk to their customers. I informed them that I live in a high rise building and I can only schedule the elevator at certain time for a two hour time frame. They were not willing to work around my time frame. The phone operator didn't give me anything but a bad attitude. They need to retrain there staff on good customer service skills. I haven't had the opportunity to buy anything from this store as of yet but the Salesman Mr. Gerald made our experience very worthwhile. They have a couch that connects to your Bluetooth that was pretty cool to me. They also had a fireplace that utilized the Bluetooth and it got very loud. We could hear it from the front of the store to the back...I was truly surprised by that little fact. They also had a lot different art work and decorations to choose from which I thought was nice because if you buy some good core pieces even if its not from them you can decorate for less. I like that you can also place your items on Lay-a-way with a small amount down to lock in a price. They had a clearance section which actually had some good items on sale. I would say make sure you check the items for any damages before you decide to buy something from that section. I did see some other people having a different experience then what we had from the way that the sales person interacted with them but I also seen some that were smiling from ear to ear as we were. The thing is the people that work there can make your experience a good one or a bad one we just happen to luck up on Mr. Gerald and he made ours great. Aug 27 Went and purchased a 5 piece bedroom set. Was told by muhammed delivery will be delayed. Covid was the reason given. He gave a delivery date og oct 14. Sep 8 Called store. Muhammed not available Sep 16 muhammed on vacation Oct 01. No answer on phone. Oct 10 checked website 14 Oct delivery date. I tried many times to find out the status of delivery, no.luck Oct 12 automated call informing delivery to be made on 14 Oct. 13 Oct. I removed all bedroom furniture from my daughter's room ,in preparation. On 14 Oct. Only partial delivery. Driver had no clue of what happened I called on 3 phones to store,,delivery center Was on hold for 45 minutes. I gave up. I went to store complained. Got the runaround. Neal told me will call me next day for a loaner bed frame 15 Oct He nevered call me. I called store he claimed he didn't have my correct phone number, neal told me he would personally deliver the bed frame at 530. It's 630 and no call from Neal and no frame. 19 Oct Called numbers, on hold ,no answer. I'll update this tonight. Neal never called and did not deliver the frame. The metal frame was delivered, but Neal didn't call. He left the metal frame, which is temporary in the side yard. He never called as promised, but did deliver the frame. 28 Oct I checked value city website, based on site delivery set for 11 Nov. 04 Feb After being told in Jan, then Feb, now told to br delivered in March. I went to Value City Furniture looking for a particular type of bed. They were the only store I could find that had the beds set up on the floor. The selection was great for what I was looking for: captain/storage beds. The prices are not amazing, but the furniture seems sturdy. The salesperson was helpful, she introduced herself, asked what we were looking for, gave us a general plan of where to look and said that she would let us browse and would stay within eyesight. After settling on a bed she pointed me to some dressers that might meet my needs. I appreciated that she narrowed the options for me based on what might match the bed. The checkout was easy and setting up delivery was easy. The delivery service was not great. They were punctual and completed the delivery/installation in 30 minutes. They left the door open during the service, which seemed unnecessary. Even after I closed it, each time they re-entered they left it open. It's raining today and they did not use shoe covers. they walked with their wet shoes through the house, leaving the carpet damp and soiled. read more

DO NOT BUY FURNITURE FROM HERE! They sell garbage furniture. My first set I bought had a tear In the seam and stitching and under warranty the refused to fix it. As I didn't learn my lesson the first time. The cheaper price got me again. I bought 2 chairs and they actually broke within 7 months. The sides completely detached from the bottom in both chairs. Explains why they are discontinued. The manager refused to replace them because they had a few scratches from the cat. I don't know how scratches from a cat made recalled furniture voided. They can't resell it as it is not safe to sit in at all. They just throw it in the dumpster anyway. I'm disgusted. I purchased a 3 piece living room set on 10-20-19, I was told that it would be delivered on 12-21-19, a significant delivery window. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANYTHING! The only thing I have received from them is false delivery dates and payment due dates. I opened a finance account with them but it feels more like a layaway plan. Since I was notified of the first delivery cancellation due to their lack of fulfillment, I have received a 2nd cancellation. I guess all those great people are gone now. Chose this location because it was the closest to my house. However it still was a ride. Traffic made it a long ride out and we arrived 20 minutes before closing. I get it, you're closing. However, no I couldn't get there earlier, but I was coming there for a particular item, I had to ask for help finding it since no one greeted us. The salesperson that I asked reacted as if I were inconveniencing him, although he did try to help, I spotted the chair I was looking for first. We tried it out and both agreed it would work, if the salesperson stayed close he would have been able to write up the sale. After all who runs out on a rainy night across town to look at a chair for the hell of it. I even joked with the guy about how far we were from them and that we thought we wouldn't make it. I was on a mission to get this done. Little did he know I wanted two of those chairs and did also spot a coffee table and some end tables that would work. Well I guess I could have inconvenienced him one more time time write up my order, but instead I decided that this salesperson and this location won't get my money, so we left. I'm going to check out one of their competitors today and see if there's something similar, if not I'll go to another location and see how that goes. I don't get it, in this economy I'm surprised that the salesperson didn't even try to be around to close the deal. I bought a dresser. I scheduled a delivery for Saturday, Aug. 22. My delivery window was from 10 a - 1p. No one called me so at 1:00 I called. After an hour and 3 phone calls, they had told me my dresser was delivered. "Not to my house," I told them. It took them another hour to figure out what was going on. One person told me they had delivered it to the wrong location and they were trying to retrieve it. What!? Finally after calling yet again. They told me that the dresser was damaged and wouldn't be delivered. This was at 3 p.m. Saturday wasted. Called the store was put through to Mario where I had to argue with him that a.) I should get my delivery fee waived and b.) I should get some money off my dresser. After haggling with him for 20 minutes and dealing with his hostile attitude, I get fee waived and 10% taken off the dresser. Two weeks later I wait till the end of my delivery window to call again and to find out, once again, what is going on with my delivery. I call and I speak to someone in the LaPorte warehouse. She says she will call me back. She doesn't. So I have to call back again. Randy tells me the driver got injured and they were trying to get a truck out there to finish his delivery. He can't give me an ETA. At this point I'm pretty upset because I already went through this ridiculousness two weeks prior. Randy is less than helpful, non-apologetic and just all around incompetent. I hang up with him and call the Burbank store and speak to the manager to literally beg--yes beg--that they deliver the dresser I paid for. Finally, they come around 8:30 p.m. My window that day was 12 p - 3 p. Saturday wasted. Two people were actually helpful from a customer service standpoint: They were Rebecca and Karen in the Burbank store. Both actually apologized and empathized with the customer. Karen was the one person who actually called me back; (her manager yesterday was also helpful--until she stopped updating me.) Karen did her job well. Randy in LaPorte--you need to do a better job, buddy. Hire competent drivers and train them better. The buck stops with you and your handling of my delivery has ruined my experience with Value City. I will never buy from there again and will recommend others stay away. Why the Burbank store has their items delivered from LaPorte, Indiana is beyond me. I've had the worse experience with Value Furniture. I purchased my furniture on March26 and still have not received a satisfied delivery. I have had 6 deliveries that the couch came damaged. Spoke to Gina from Corporate that has done nothing for me nor anyone else there. I'm beyond upset and dissatisfied. Value city Furniture has some of the best people i have had to deal with as far as furniture stores go. if you stick to their more expensive stuff you cant go wrong, and they offer warranties that even though your adding to your total are worth it if you know what is covered and what is not and how to go about it. They have very cute furniture that seems for sure better quality then wicks and as far as bedrooms and dinettes go they have way better quality then Harlem i haven't compared much of the quality of the living room sets but i did notice you pay way less at value city then at any of its surrounding competition. read more

I have never been so frustrated in my entire life and would have left if I was not tired from shopping. She is rude and unprofessional. Jones would constantly rush you to make a decision and even stated she has to leave by 5:00 p.m. I would understand if the product cost was insignificant, but at $4000 I believe I am entitle to more time. About DELIVERY ONLY You choose your delivery date but do not get the time until less than 24 hours before the arrival. The delivery can occur any time between 7am-5pm because none of us work, right? The delivery system is automated. I get that it is designed to be as efficient as possible but this system lends itself to no malleability and requires you to have to sit at home all day. How can you afford furniture if you sit at home all day waiting for it to arrive. The system needs to have overrides or be able to schedule an actual window more than 24 hours in advance. read more

She took my bad delivery experience and turned it into a positive situation which will keep me as a positive customer. I had taken a day off work to have a daybed, mattress & bunked board delivered. The delivery was late, my daybed wasn't delivered and the warehouse didn't have any information regarding it. I was heated to say the least.
