Firstly I would like to state that I'm grateful they gave me a same day appointment but I'm upset my cat was falsely diagnosed. My cat had a wound on his nose that only kept getting bigger as the days went by so i decided to call in late for work and take him in to be examined. I come in the staff is kind and quick but they misdiagnosed my cats condition and said he had "cat acne", I told them my concerns that his wound was only getting bigger and uglier and showed some pictures and I was told it happens because the type of food bowl I use for him and maybe he rubs his face with his paws that's causing it to get worse, I was skeptical but I decided to trust in them so I take him home and replace his food bowl to a metal one like I was told and remove anything he could hurt himself with and leave for work. Coming back home I come to find his nose even worse and now bleeding a bit so I cleaned him up and wasn't much worried because he was still eating and playful so I decided to trust what the vet said and keep an eye on him. It wasn't until the next morning I saw it start spreading from one side of his nose to the next where I couldn't bring myself to let it slide any longer so I took him to another vet for a second opinion to find out my cat has FCV... very far from "cat acne." If I had not been skeptical and fully trusted them my cats condition would've only continued to worsen as his wound only keep getting bigger and bleeding occasionally. read more

10/24/2025: They did dental one year ago in two of my cats for $900. I am now paying $3000 in subsequent care for both cats due to Dr. Pope not removing rotting and puss filled teeth. Both of my cats have been very sick, after each dental with Dr. Pope, their breath still smelled rancid and that should have been my first clue. If you take your pets to this clinic to save money, don't. It will cost you thousands of dollars later in proper vet care. I have reported this practice and Dr. Pope to the DVM association and hope he loses his right to care for any more animals. My pets are like family and apparently, they do not value my family. It took 15 minutes, as told to me by a Value Vet employee, to do the dental cleanings for $450 per pet. If you want to save money , find a better veterinarian. This practice lacks the care and compassion required to properly care for anyone's animal. Also I would like to add, Jackson had 7 teeth and 5 roots pulled. Miley is having 5 teeth pulled. This kind of dental decay, puss, dental disease and rotting teeth does not happen over the course of a year. Jackson's front jaw bone is loose due to the dental decay so tell me again how you did your jobs a year ago? We have all of the dental records transferred from your practice to my new, competent Veterinarian practice and she even stated that this kind of puss, decay and dental disease was in existence a year ago and Dr. Pope was just too lazy to pull the teeth since it is more complex to pull a cat's teeth. It requires time and patience, neither of which can be performed in 15 minutes. If you stand behind Dr. Terald Lee Pope, then you care just about as much about the well-being of animals as Dr. Pope does. These are our babies, we expect the best care to the best of your ability. He took an oath to do no harm or not leave them in a state of harm that would put them in so much pain later that they cannot even eat their own food. I am certainly not the first nor will be the last that complains about this Veterinarian. The fact that you refuse to reimburse me shows, once again, you do not care about the well-being of my animals or my financial concerns. I spent $900 for both cats at your practice, $1400 on Jackson at the new Vet and I am spending another $1674 on Miley next month when they can fit her in. Poor baby is in so much pain that I took money out of my 401K to care for her. Tell me how this is not Dr. Terald Lee Pope's fault and Value Vet for employing his services? read more

Took my pets here to get their yearly shots for the first time. The next day one of the two started to not feel well. He stop eating stop going outside and started sleeping more. We took him back to the dismissive vet which suggested labs. The results was he don't know what's wrong with him but charged us for medication " for a stomach bug" Two weeks later our pet has now passed pasted. He was perfectly fine before we took him here. Take a chance with your babies with this place is taking a risk with their lives.‍ read more

I will never take a pet here ever again. I took my 14-year-old lab, Bella, in for a Quality of Life exam and euthenasia this week. The nurse was kind, but the doctor (Dr. Pope) was not. He refused my request to put Bel down, instead sending us home with very expensive meds that even HE was not sure would improve her quality of life (she has severe arthritis and it is very difficult and painful for her to walk). I know my dog. I've had her since she was a few months old. The look in her eyes is telling me, "Mommy, it's time." I love her with my whole heart and want her to be comfortable, not mask her pain for another year. NOT recommended. read more

Absolutely love this place I found on Yelp! Not sure why this place was a secret for us pet owners looking for an affordable place to treat our fur babies?! Came here looking for a place to remove a cyst from my Elsa's shoulder, after getting several $700-1000 quotes from Banfield and the vet's office. They removed the cyst, which was about the size of a dime for approx. $250. That price included bloodwork, anesthesia, an Elizabeth collar, and tumor removal. I even learned they offer the cheapest vaccines in the area ($15 rabies, or $45 for all annual vaccines). Heartworm meds are affordable and most are kept on site. I loved the fact that they were professional, clean, ran on time, and prices quoted was exactly what was done (no hidden fees or up selling here). They also called gave thorough post surgery instructions and checked on Elsa several times after her surgery, which was an added bonus. So, for anyone looking for a less expensive option to care for their fur babies...you can thank me later! read more

Now I understand why other review said if you want your dog alive don't take them here. I took my dog in for an exam. The most terrifying experience that I ever had with a vet, Dr. Pope. When Dr. Pope exam my dog, he squeezed my dog lump under his belly so so hard with so much pressure. It was very evil act. Later when he exam my dog mouth, he pushed his hand against my dog's face so hard. My dog is a very sweet and brave dog and I had never seen him this scared going to a vet. It was such animal cruelty. It was so scary. Not only him, but his assistant, the lady with the red hair, she wasn't gentle holding my dog. These 2 people scared and terrified me of how they treated my dog. This place needs to do something about it or there maybe going to be lawsuit as well as someone gets arrested for animal cruelty. She said he had to since he was all they had. I told her why couldn't one of the techs give my dog her shots. She said no, he had to do it. My brother is a fairly well functioning adult autistic. He has used Value Vet for several years. They have been unethical. He has a dog 15 years old can't see, has seizures, arthritis and more. They sent him a card to get her vaccines current. He is so trusting in "Dr.s" that he took this dog, who should have been put down years ago, and they gave her the unnecessary, unneeded and potentially harmful vaccines at the cost of $200!!!! Vaccines are only needed every 3 years after 7 years old...maybe. With the exception of heart worm and rabies. It was very clear they took advantage of him. UNETHICAL business practices. I am giving them a 1 star due to the main practicing doctor on staff here "Dr. Pope". I've been taking both my Great Danes here for over 15 years and the vet techs and staff are always so sweet and accommodating as they know with them being so big we like to go straight into a room. This past Friday I took one of our Great Danes in and of course muzzled him since we were doing vaccines, blood work, and an exam. The techs got everything done except the exam which the doctor has to conduct. When "Dr Pope" WOBBLED into the room my dog immediately locked eye contact with him and started growling. Dr. Pope slowly walked (because he's not going anywhere fast) around him with an attitude and tried to listen to his heart and my dog snip at him (of course with his muzzle on) and the Dr was rude and took a deep breath and acted like he tried one more time to listen to his heart and my dog did the same thing. Dr Pope said "nope I'm not doing it today" and waddled out of the room leaving me and about 5 vet techs standing around looking at each other. The techs continuously apologized for the situation and assured me that I would be able to get the medication my dog needed despite the doctor not being skilled enough to do his job. This doctor needs to be spoken to by his supervisor who I've already contacted about his inability to do his job and also having an attitude with clients. The previous interacting with the doctor he was rude and brief and didn't want to discuss options because he told me "it's too complicated" and I let his smart comment slide that day because we all have bad days but I wasn't having it this time. If I had a vet I would hire all of these vet techs as they have always been so sweet and gentle and loving on the pups but Dr Pope is the complete opposite and will talk down to you the entire time with an attitude and heavy breathing. What a horrible experience! I took my cat in to be checked for an ear infection or ear mites. When the vet, 'dr' Pope came in, he looked in his ears without a light or instrument, and quickly stated there was nothing wrong with his ears. No sample taken to check for ear mites, no temperature taken to check for infection. Just a quick glance and the diagnosis was made in less than 1 minute. I cleaned my cat's ears the night before because he was miserable. Figuring that is why it looked like nothing was wrong,, I tried to show the vet a picture I took before I cleaned them, which clearly showed puss. The vet wouldn't even look at them. However, he recommended I get a full panel of blood tests, not because of his ears but because of his age. Just a good old fashioned money grab in my opinion. The vet did not talk to me but rather at me. I don't think he even looked at me once. He certainly didn't seem to care at all for my animal. If you don't like animals, you shouldn't be a vet. I been here before, a few years ago and had a great experience. The name of the place is the same but the service is not. Please do not take your pet here. I recently took my pup in due to seasonal allergies causing him to scratch a lot and eventually made the tips of his ears bleed. He has been a patient here for the past 5 years, and has come in for annual exams with no issues but he is a pretty healthy dog so I've never had to come in for an illness exam. Before the pandemic I remember him being seen by a woman but this time around it was a man I spoke to on the phone (you aren't able to come into exam room) they bring your pet back which is fine and understandable however, you expect the level of care to be the same as if you were being seen in person. I ended up feeling defeated after the call with the vet. I genuinely felt like I was rushed off the phone and just given the medications in a very "fine here you go bye" type of manner. When i told him my concerns he kind of gave me a "well he's a dog there's not much I can do about that" attitude. That did not make me feel reassured or like they even cared. I had to change vets because of how poor that experience was. I would say this is a great place to go for preventative care at a reasonable price but If you're looking for a place that actually seems to care about your dog then please look elsewhere! read more

I'm still new to the area and was in need of a more local Vet to tend to the Fiancee's and mine's two cats. A quick Yelp search and review led us to Value Vet, and I must say it has been a very pleasurable experience doing business with these people. After calling and making an appointment for a routine check up and urine test for one of our cats (under $100 total), we found out she was also in dire need of a teeth cleaning (her breath was rank) and three extractions; later appointment made and carried out brought a total bill for cleaning, extractions, and pain meds under $130.00; that's a great value!! The people who run the place were extra nice and extremely caring of our pet (Rita really fell in love with our cat since she reminded her of her deceased from old age kitty!), and I can honestly say that I had no bad experience in the four visits I have made such as Ben G. states. As to the decorum: the office is very clean and modern with an airy waiting/check in room at the entry: very clean and well organized examination rooms: clean restroom. I really like that all the business (consultation, exam, payment, etc.) can be done right in the examining rooms as well; saves a lot of time with no messing around at the front side counter. Overall, I really liked the Vibe, Service, and Price points given by the Value Vet people, and have absolutely no issues with doing future business with them. Having just graduated college with no job, I was biting my nails when my cat came down with an infection. A quick yelp search revealed this value vet, so I decided to give this place a try despite that scary review of someone's pet dying. I called the number listed on their site to make an appointment. The number leads to their appointment call center, and not the actual clinic. I tried to list all the services I wanted to include in this appointment, but the woman simply told me to tell the doctor on the day of my exam. Weird! On the day of my 4:00 appointment, I arrived at 3:40 and signed in. Two other walk ins who came a little before me were seen first. I wasn't seen until 4:25. Luckily I wasn't in a rush and my cat was so exhausted from the car ride she fell asleep in her carrier. During the exam, I was brought into a small and very clean exam room. The vet tech who helped us was swift with everything she did, from weighing my cat, to examining her previous medical records, to holding her down for her vaccinations. I was impressed. The doctor who came in was very friendly and examined my cat's medical records very thoroughly and concluded that my cat had feline herpes and was experiencing a flare up. She recommended chest radiographs and other services and printed an estimate of the recommendations for me to consider in my own time. Then she prescribed some antibiotics and other suggestions. The whole exam took less than ~20 minutes, which I'm not complaining about, but I'm also not raving about. I felt a little rushed. I forgot to ask for microchipping and the vet tech forgot about my original request for flea and heartworm preventative. I do understand this clinic has many patients to attend to though, so I'm not upset. Overall, I had a relatively good experience with this clinic and definitely would bring my cat back. The prices for the prescriptions were only $5 more than online prices and I received them immediately. The prices for all the services were generally decently priced and affordable. If you do decide to bring your pet here, I recommend you come prepared with all your questions and requests, and give yourself ample time in case you need to wait a while to be seen. The exam is a little rushed, and the doctor and vet tech will forget some things and leave out details unless you ask for them, but the doctor and vet tech do a very good job in handling your pet and fielding your questions. read more

After a random stray cat decided that he needed to live with us, we succumbed to the peer-pressure...or in this case the cat pressure. We fell in love with the little kitty, but when I noticed he'd slept for 3 days straight, was trying to hide under our bed and was burning up I immediately made an appointment at Value Vet, after getting a recommendation from a very nice woman working at Petsmart. They put my appointment down for the wrong time (one day later) and I was a little anxious with all of the big, unruly dogs in the waiting area, but after a few minutes of seeing that all the other pet owners were just as kind as me I calmed down. Our kitty didn't, though. All the big, mean dogs stressed him out. Dr. Fish was nice, but didn't introduce herself and nobody there seemed to care about my confusion with finding a kitty and not knowing what to do with him. I guess I just expected animal lovers like myself to have more compassion. This felt more like a cold speculum in a gynecological exam. The price? Oh yeah, that was so good. When my bf reminded me that it was the Walmart of vets I understood it all more. They provide the service, don't pretend to care too much, but at the end the price doesn't kill you. Maybe that's good? In the end I was trying to figure out if I'd rather have the Target experience of a vet who would actually try to connect with us and hear the story or if I could be ok with the Walmart experience of Value vet. All of the good reviews are from years prior. Value vet has become a place for lower cost vet care than traditional veterinarians but with absolutely no value. My dog is still sick and I'm paying nearly $400 for nothing. I also get different answers from different people here. They told me my dog was at the "brink of death" and after a recommended blood test, they said she's in such perfect health. She's skin and bones, lost all her fur, weighing 9 pounds as a full grown Cocker Spaniel. I can't afford to do anything else now. We recently got a third dog and were most concerned about the extra vet bills. Especially since she had two teeth that were badly rotten and needed to be extracted. After fretting over some dollar amounts I found online, I was worried we wouldn't be about to afford it (nearly $600!) I took her in for an estimate here and was able to talk to the doctor that would do the procedure. She was very understanding about the concern over the amount and didn't push me to get the blood work done which is optional but recommended. Bill came out to $250, more than half of what another vet in the area quoted me! Couldn't be happier, very attentive staff. You might have a wait, though, I didn't but had an appointment during the day. I recently paid a visit to the Lawrenceville, GA location, Monday July 13th, 2015, to be exact, and it was my second time there. I did make an appointment for yearly shots (Rabies, Distemper and so on). The technician showed me and my 3 dogs to the examination room, she was very polite, then a doctor came in (Dr. Rose) to administer the shots. She was absolutely amazing with a wealth of knowledge and the warmest and friendliest demeanor I have encountered with any Vet, anywhere. There was however some miscommunication on their part, and I was charged an additional 33.00 examination fee for one of my dogs, which I didn't question because I did get a prescription for meds for her ear. I assumed that was standard since a prescription had to be written, but then I received a voicemail today stating they failed to charge me 66.00 for the other 2 dogs. I was a bit bewildered by this because I made an appointment for shots only, never once did I request an examination. I called back and spoke with someone who then says she was not sure but my appointment did say shots ONLY. Ultimately after speaking with Kim (hope that was the right name), she waived the fees and said not to worry about it, and she would speak to the technician. I did not have a problem paying for something, but would have liked the option had it been offered. I can truly respect a company that can admit that an error was made on their part, and rectify it to retain a customer. So Kudos to Kim and the employees at ValueVet Lawrenceville, I will be using them in the future for all my dogs veterinary needs as well as continue to refer friends and clients of mine. I was referred to Value Vet as a lower-cost option to have a mass surgically removed from my dog's leg. I brought my dog in for the consultation and was not impressed by the staff at all. The vet came in, did not even introduce himself to me, barely glanced at the mass on my dog's leg for maybe 1 second, stated she would need surgery and walked out. He did not even touch my dog once during this "exam," nor did I get a chance to ask questions or voice my concerns, and was incredibly dismissive. Throughout our entire encounter, nobody even acknowledged my dog. If they showed such a lack of interest in my dog while I was with her, I cannot even imagine how they would treat her while she was alone, scared, and going under anesthesia. The tech brought in our estimate which was more expensive that the quote we received from our normal vet, meaning this ended up not being an "affordable" option at all. Overall, I just got really weird vibes from everybody we encountered during our visit. Seems like they are more interested in getting their paycheck than actually caring for their patients or showing even an ounce of empathy towards sick pets and their worried owners. Vet took blood from my poodle and return her with blood running down her fur and full of an alcohol smell. My other dog, instantly knew something was wrong, started whining and tried to clean her. This broke my heart. Doctors armed were full of sores and scabies which freaked me out. I have been coming to this vet for a while now and I loved it! Affordable and the staff was so friendly especially the doctor! Dr. Melissa Stallings I think was her name? I could be wrong but the doctor was GREAT, you could tell she loved what she did and she was genuine about your concerns for your baby. Okay well I don't know if they got new staff after the COVID pandemic started but I came here again because my dog has been limping for months (he is only 3 years old so I know it's not a age related limp) and I went the first time and they just gave me pain meds and then this second time took 3 x-rays. Anyway I go to pick him up and the staff member that brings him out just hands him to me basically without telling me any aftercare instructions (he had a sedative to take the x rays). So I ask her and I ask her if the doctor is going to talk to me or what.. and she's clueless to the fact that he hasn't even talked to me yet. She goes back inside and tells him and we talk on the phone and all he tells me is that they didn't see or feel any abnormalities... WHEN IT IS OBVIOUS HIS KNEE CAP MOVES OUT OF PLACE EVERY-TIME YOU BEND HIS LEG, but according to him he didn't feel any abnormalities. Even the other location told me that it seemed to be his knee cap. I feel like they half assed the exam and the x rays. On top of that they didn't even suggest sending me or giving the x ray pictures (that were $170 total), I had to ask them to send them to me TWICE, the day of and the next day. I used to love this place, really. But I'm not coming back here again. I have used this Vet for 2 years. The Drs are good as is the price. HOWEVER, IF they actually answer the phone you are told no walk ins and the first available appointment is for 2 weeks later or more. This is the 2nd time we needed to be seen in a timely manner (non emergency) and were turned away. I will go back to the slightly higher cost vets closer to where we live. read more
