Took my puppy here and specifically went in for flea medication. Discussed this as well. At no point was I told that if you don't request a written prescription that day for the dog's medication, then they will charge you a future fee of $55 to get a written prescription in order to send elsewhere. A customer service rep stated it was on the invoice, however as a customer if I am discussing the prescription, how to get it, etc etc, it would be good business to mention that. And also not say "Well you should come back next month." The extra fee and in general just that alone made me not want to take my dog back there. The reviews aren't good for here anyways. read more

I recently got a new puppy to keep my 7yo dog company while I'm out of the house. My normal vet was booked out for 3 weeks and since I knew she'd be due for her next round of puppy shots before then, I made an appointment with value vet. I was in a hurry when I left the house that day and completely forgot to grab her vaccination records; and told them that upon my arrival. I let them know that I would be happy to reschedule for the next day or two and bring the records then. I even told them that I could have my boyfriend run to my house and send a photo. They insisted that they could just do the exam and set her up on flea/tick/heart worm meds that day, and schedule another appointment for the vaccines, which I was fine with. The rest of the appointment was one of the most unpleasant interactions I've ever experienced at a vet. The technicians seemed rude, unprofessional, and unorganized and made a number of very judgemental and borderline accusatory comments about my puppy, all of which I felt were absolutely unwarranted. At one point one of the technicians took her to the corner of the room where they whispered amongst themselves and I heard the phrase "puppy mill" thrown around (she was adopted from a certified, reputable breeder that I did plenty of research on). There were also several comments by one of the technicians which made me feel as if they were insinuating that I could not afford to pay for care for my pets - even though I told them at the beginning of the appointment that I was happy to pay for anything they suggested be done. Before I left (practically in tears that someone would EVER suggest that my dogs are not well taken care of), I made an appointment to come back for her shots at the ushering of one of the techs, but immediately called and canceled it once I got home and made another appointment with a vet that had an opening the next day. Although I only had an exam performed (which, surprise, resulted in a clean Bill of health) and cannot offer an opinion as to the quality of care itself at the clinic - I can say that the unprofessionalism I experienced will keep me from ever coming back or recommending them to anyone. I am pretty sure they've gone out of business. I tried emailing and calling. I got a bounce back on the email and no one is answering the phones. They didn't even put a sign on the door. I'm glad they went out of business because they're obviously mismanaged and don't care about animals. If they ever open up again, I'll never go back. I've been taking my pets to them for years because they're close and have several locations. However, the service just kept getting worse and worse since the pandemic. I should've bailed sooner. My poor baby wouldn't stop eating his tail. I got in same day on a Saturday. The staff was super friendly and so sweet to my pup. He gets anxiety when he's away from his brothers. They had to take him away to shave his tail. Omg did it sound like my dog was dying. The staff was so sweet about his screeches and kept him as calm as possible. Value Vet was extremely helpful in my time of need. My kitty, Wexford, has a swollen tongue and VV was booked solid. The concerned vet (while eating her lunch) found a spot for me 40mins later. She let me know that my kitty most likely had throat cancer and she provided me with enough pain/anti inflammatory meds to keep her comfortable until I was ready. VV not only emailed me to see how she was doing, but the whole staff sent a card after her passing. I can't explain to you how much this meant to me, but I can tell you the didn't charge me for an unscheduled visit or unnecessary tests (which they could have) and they just helped me in my time of need. I got a call 5 min before they closed saying they had forgotten (they left a message) and then had to wait til Monday to even talk with someone. I had a question when my pup Dixie got hold of an ant trap. I called Value Vet and they immediately called me back with the information I needed. I took her here when she started to gnaw on her hind leg. They informed me she has allergies and gave me a spray and medicine. They are VERY nice and the facility is always clean. I got a new puppy and was hesitant taking him to a place called "Value Vet". It sounds like the Super 8 for pets, right? However, upon entering the facility, we felt quite welcomed and soothed by the colorful environment and open layout. The staff was super friendly and didn't try to rip you off left and right on dog foods, treats, or other products. They mean business, efficiency, and professionalism. They only charge for a full "check up" ($33) if a vet needs to see your pooch. Otherwise the tech can give shots and swipe your card for the modest $15/immunization. Perfect. Today I left with a bill less than $65 and got two immunizations, a deworming pill, and flea/heartworm monthly med, and reassurance that Waldo wouldn't have to be back for a year. Yippee! Last year my boyfriend and I adopted two kittens from the Humane Society. This month those kitties turned 1! So it was time to take 'em for a check up. Their first trip to the vet in fact. We'd heard that this value vet was pretty stellar (I've heard some scary stuff about other value vet locations) so we called to see if we could get them in on a Monday afternoon (the day we are both off). "Sure we can see them at 3:20". Yay! As the time approached we carefully put out our cat carriers so our kitties could get used to the idea. And freakishly they both went in the carriers and sat down. SO off we went, with well behaved kitties in toe! Value Vet main street is a neeeew facility. It's small, with one room for surgery (you can see through the outside window in to watch), a recovery room, two exam rooms and a lobby. They check you in at a computer station hitched up to the wall and we were ready with all our paperwork making our check in fast and pain free. The vet tech led us in to one of the exam rooms and did the basics. Our cats were weighed and their temperatures taken. The process was calm. When the vet came in I wished she had taken a little bit more time introducing herself and explaining her super fast exam. It was all over so quick! She poked and prodded and gave them the decree of good health. She ordered up the shots they needed, stuck 'em with needles and recommend a flea treatment. We paid for everything in the exam room as they have a computer in there too. I think we were at the vet for no more than 30 or 40 minutes. No time at all! We'll probably come back here for check ups since it's fast and easy. Yay healthy kitties! read more

My whole cat family has been wiped out because the Rescue operator didn't have any of the cats tested for FLIV - a very deadly virus.... I have lost all my babies. We are very disappointed with our most recent experience here. We scheduled an 8:20 am appointment (in person) to bring our lab in for blood work and x-rays. Yesterday, I received a confirmation appointment call for 9:40 am. Confused, I called back to make sure I had the time right and they assured me it was at 9:40am. I also confirmed what was to take place at the appointment and checked to see if I needed any pre-care. (Turns out, I needed to make sure she didn't eat beforehand in case they needed to sedate her. Good to know.) My husband showed up at 9:30 am (ten minutes early) this morning for our appointment and the employee said "you were supposed to be here over an hour ago!" and proceeded to slam drawers shut and throw a tantrum. He tried to explain that we called and confirmed but she continued to blame him and make him feel like an inconvenience and a fool. We will not be back to this particular office and I hesitate to go back to Valuevet again, considering the lack of organization between the offices and the call centers. It's really too bad because the actual doctor who evaluated our girl was very kind, informative and we felt confident in her ability to treat her. read more

After my boyfriend didn't have a good experience at Caudle, I was having a little trouble deciding where I should take Blanche. Yes her name is Blanche, like Blanche from the Golden Girls. I asked a coworker and a friend, they both told me to take her to Value Vet. I was greeted immediately when I walked through the door. The staff was very attentive and friendly. After weighing my 22 pound bundle of joy they took me into an exam room. The doctor was so friendly and informative. I can't say enough good things about him. He recommended treatments and products he thought would be good for her. I highly recommend this place and will be taking Blanche back there for all her needs. read more

Although this is definitely your "no frills" vet, I was really impressed with the quality of service I received when I brought my dog in. I came home to him limping with a pretty nasty paw infection and they were able to get me in first thing the next morning. The man on the phone was extremely nice and the service was great the next day too. I showed up early and they were able to take me. My 130lb Newfoundland is a huge chicken so when it came time to shave his paw to look for the infection, he flipped out and continued to try and run away. The vet + two other staff members helped me hold him and I was so impressed that they didn't hesitate at all to help. Added bonus - they're obviously very reasonably priced. I have really, really appreciated this location -- the kind and efficient service at a great price, in particular. My dachshund was a complete nightmare about his nail trims, and the veterinarian assistants were always so patient with him. When the time came for him to be put to sleep, we had very compassionate care, up to the assistant crying with us as we walked out of the building. My one criticism is this: At the time we went, which was in early May, there was a surgical suite in the front plate-glass window of this location. When we pulled up for our final service, some sort of bloody surgical procedure was taking place. I honestly could not believe the veterinarian was being forced to work under such conditions AND that the clients were being forced to watch it. Windows on grooming? Absolutely. On surgery? Terrible, terrible idea, and one that added trauma to an already painful day. I suggest covering those windows. read more

I've been to this vet for over 5 years, normally once a year for my dog's annual checkup. I have never had to wait long except for this last time when they were running behind 30 minutes because someone called in sick. The staff is nice and efficient. Sadly I had expected more from this location. When I made the appointment I was very clear as to what we needed for our pet prior to bringing her in to ensure they could assist. I'm giving a 3 star due to the kindness of the staff that was there upon our visit. We came in to get our Pets electrolytes checked ( over the phone they said a urinalysis and blood work could be done ). The urinalysis was done and nothing else. The IMD did follow up and when I asked why they made an appointment for us if they weren't doing to be able and/or willing to do the blood work she offered no apologies or acceptable reason. They just didn't do it and it was a waste of time and money. Upon being forwarded our Pets medical history, the IMD's notes stated that I was "rude and hateful" and more. Such a class act on the IMD's end, and should've been left out of any notes the patients family can see. I've never had any problems with them in the past but better training on customer service and listening skills are recommended. We are in the end, at the mercy of their care. Being unhappy with our wasted time and prolonging getting the help our Pet needed caused frustration! But the lack of empathy and concern from the IMD was upsetting. read more

The appointment setter doesn't speak fluid English and makes appointments that are actually walk-ins. I arrived on time I was told it would be a 45 minute wait. Then 45 minutes later, another 20 minute wait, and the dr walked up and said it would be two hours. It was explained to me that there were no appointments, so I complained about the wording when making the appointment, then the dr gave me a speech about COVID-19 and how all these employees showed up for work. He got red in the face and I said that I wasn't mad but I have little kids in the car. He said the appointment setter gets 1000 calls a day and there's only one and she's doing the best she can. I said she shouldn't be using the word "appointment" is all. He motioned for me to come with him and he was red in the face, and I thought he might punch me (he wasn't wearing a mask)--he opened the door and said "You can take your dog and leave" They called me 20 minutes later saying my appointment was ready, so the doctor was just butting in to be an asshole. Dr Barb was very kind! I came in with my pup who has a gnarly cough. He is quite old so I was prepared for the worst. Dr. Barb did an exam then came back with test recommendations with costs before performing. I like this process so there is no surprise at the end. I've been to other vets and found a crazy bill because of ignorance to the cost of tests as they come at me as a concerned dog parent. Turns out it wasn't as serious as I imagined and we are now taking baby treatment steps to rule out minor causes before giving any unnecessary treatments. She was also very kind in follow up, both when she called and when I returned to get a prescription. The one thing that would make this better , is if I could take possession of the X-rays my dog was given. I want to hold them for records, and I paid a lot for them. I guess it is their policy that they have to keep them, they can not permanently give them to the pet owner. They allow to temporarily take to another facility but they must be returned. They also offered to email me photos of them, which I agreed to as a compromise. I still would prefer to take the originals into possession but I guess they belong to the vet. I would recommend Dr Barb to other concerned pet owners. Also great to drop in for vaccines. read more

This place is awesome! Had a last minute appointment right before close for my dog with bronchitis... He's a recent shelter rescue and hadn't been to the vet since his neutering in July. They slipped us in, took great care of him, made both pet and owner comfortable, and even had nice artwork. Super nice folks. They're always sweet, accommodating and timely. No frills or thrills, just good service for basic needs (i.e. vaccinations, flea/tick treatment, etc.). We've taken our puppy here for everything so far and have been very happy. The only thing I can say that was a little strange was the coccidia diagnosis. He was asymptomatic as he continues to be. If they wrote this scrip as a precaution, that hasn't been voiced. Nevertheless, that small question in my mind is by no means reason to make a change. Much recommended! read more

Rant on Value Vet. I am so disappointed in Value Vet. They used to be the place I would take the dogs but since they are now under new management they have changed a lot and not for the better!!! My dogs needed rabies shots. That. Was. It. 1. My appointment was at 11:20. They didn't see us till 12:00. 2. The vet techs hated their jobs. They had bad attitudes and and acted like it was a huge inconvenience to see us even though I made the appointment a week ago. 3. They require an "exam" before they give the vaccine which in turn was the vet listening to their hearts, petting them on the head and saying "they look great." 4. They were acting sketchy. When I asked why they needed an exam the vet said "that's the over all policy now." When I asked the over all policy for whom? The state? Or Value Vet? She stated "Just the over all policy." And wouldn't elaborate. 5. The vet messed up.....twice. She poked through both dogs skin, squirted the vaccine liquid on the floor and blamed it on faulty needles. Both dogs were poked over 4 times!!! 6. Because the new policy of value vet requires an exam the bill was over $100!!!! When I told them that was way too expensive they just said, "Well, that's the over all policy. It's not like you can just walk into a doctors office and receive some medicine. You have to have relationship with the doctor." To which I replied, "Yes you can. They're called walk-in clinics." I will never bring my dogs back there again!!! Now I know better. I have utilized this vet for the needs of my great dane and pit bull mix, the staff have always been super courteous and helpful. My pit mix suffers from skin allergies and ear infections and they have always helped me to find herbal and natural treatments. Everyone has always been friendly and seem to really care about the animals that they help. This office did everything in their power to prevent me from filling my dog's Rx for heartworm medicine online. I work at an eye doctor's office and not only does every patient have the right to take their Rx where they please, we call it in for them, even to 1(800)-contacts. The process took over a month and they didn't seem to care at all that my dog was in need of her meds. They won't get another cent from me. I guess their attempts to force me to buy the medications directly from them cost them the business they could have made off me from a lifetime of being a loyal patient. read more

I had taken our dog Kaya there for normal routine exams and shots for years and had a good experience. But we had a bad experience with her surgery. First, we did a test anesthesia and urine analysis to make sure she would be okay going under for surgery. The day of the surgery came and we still didn't hear back and the staff called us to see if we wanted to go ahead and do the surgery without the results. We were like HELL NO! We rescheduled the surgery for a later date. We paid for an expensive biopsy to be done on the mass and after three weeks of calling them, they finally called us to say that the pet pathology service lost it AND it wasn't their fault. They said they would refund the money and that I should just monitor the area if there was any other growth. I understand that mistakes happen and they outsource their services, but there was just a series of events and disorganization. They should take ownership of their services (outsourced or not) and not make excuses. read more

The staff here were extremely rude. Seemed annoyed by anything I asked about our cat. They did xrays, which came out blurred. They told me they were possibility blurred because of fluid build up. Said it could be couple of things, all of which were bad including one that was fatal. It took me sometime to digest the information they gave me about his health. The vet was nice and understanding but the 3 other staff. Horrible. Their tone and body language made me feel like I was wasting their time. We ended up going to another vet-not the emergency vet they recommend. Took the xrays with us to the other vet. She said obviously the machine wasn't working correctly. Got digital xrays done and blood work. Turns out it was a simple illness, a round of steroids and antibiotics was all it took. Value Vet was wrong on ALL accounts. No fuilds built up at all, not a fatal disease, nothing that wasn't easily treatable. I will never return to Value Vet. read more

TL;DR: Probably fine for the regular annual vaccines, but I wouldn't trust them with anything else. Lack of knowledge, poor communication, poor customer service, dirty waiting area. My dog gets super anxious about being in the car. We've tried lots of homeopathic and behavioral approaches to relax her and decided to use prescription med for our anticipated 3-day drive. The vet wanted to see her for an exam before prescribing anything. Okay, fine (even though she had an exam at this same clinic within the past year). Better to be safe; I get it. The tech recorded my dog's weight and asked the standard check-up Q's. She didn't take my dog's temperature because the thermometer was missing... guess that's not important. The vet listened to my dog's chest, asked more standard check-up Qs, and asked if I had concerns about anything. After this, she disappeared. The tech came back and said they were going to give me a sedative for the dog, went out again to get the pills, and finished up with payment, etc. They gave me NO INFO about the pills they gave me. It was like pulling teeth to get BASIC directions like how often should the pills be administered and does my dog need to take it with food or not. After I got home, I looked up info on the medicine since the vet and techs had given me so little to go by. Since we were going to be traveling, I wanted to be aware of side effects and general stuff to watch out for. I generally take internet information with a grain of salt and try to assess its validity before readily believing any of it. But I came across multiple vets and multiple websites that seemed to be in agreement. I read how the medicine they gave me was actually for a different purpose than that for which I was asking, that it was originally developed in the 50's to treat psychiatric patients, and that it has fallen out of favor with most vets. I read that it works by affecting the dog's dopamine receptors and causes neuromuscular problems affecting the dog's movement and coordination while it is in the dog's system. After finding out that it does not actually sedate the dog mentally, only physically, I went back to the vet to discuss other options. Dr. Piper, the vet, didn't come out to talk to me and instead communicated through a tech. The tech laughed in my face and dismissed my concerns when I said what I had read made me uneasy about using it. The tech replied that the internet "will do that". After a couple of back-and-forths of the tech relaying info between me and the vet, the tech said that they probably couldn't give me anything else due to safety and good luck. On top of this frustrating interaction and ridiculous waste of money, the waiting area had dried drops and smears of blood on the floor. I understand places can be understaffed, or that the staff can be overwhelmed at busy times of day. But it's a little distressing that blood was able to dry before it had been cleaned or disinfected. read more

Thank God for this establishment! Our sweet dog Gypsy dug under the fence two days ago and was hit by a car. When my neighbor came banging on my door at 7 AM with this terrible news, I knew who to call. Luckily the car was only going 10 mph and she wasn't badly injured. Nevertheless, I brought her into Value Vet and even without an appointment the nurses immediately began to check out her wounds. They brought her a big fluffy blanket to lay on since the doctor wasn't coming in until 8 AM. They checked her eyes and heart rate to make sure she was stable and gave her pain meds as we waited. Around 7:45 an incredibly nice man walked in. He turned out to be the owner of Value Vet and was doing his morning rounds, checking each location. He explained that although the actual Dr. would not be there until 8 AM he was also a veterinarian and would be happy to look at Gypsy right away. What a relief! I was able to drop Gypsy off so she could get stitches and more thoroughly examined. When I picked her up at 3 PM it was clear she was in much better shape. The $450 bill was a bit high and I noticed the pain meds they prescribed we already had at home from when our other dog had an ACL operation. The staff was so cool and took the pain meds off the bill and allowed us to use the ones we already had. The total was $380, which seemed reasonable considering their hard work and Gypsy's well being. She is now at home resting and getting better. Anytime we have to bring our dogs to the vet, I know where we're going. read more

Value Vet is a fine place to get low cost shots, but if your pet is having any health problems whatsoever, stay away! I recently rescued a dog and brought her to Value Vet because I was concerned about her weight and coat. The vet didn't take my dog's medical history, she didn't give me any information about the mediation she gave me, or what to do if the treatment didn't work (which it didn't). When I told her that I was worried my pet was losing weight, she told me not to worry because it looked like my dog had some Boxer in her. When I called back to discuss my dog's continuing health problems, a vet that I hadn't even seen called me back and said all I could do was bring my dog back. That would have been my dog's fourth visit in a month, hardly a value if you ask me. So after a month and numerous vet bills, my pet's health is worse not better. Good bye Value Vet! read more
