I gave the scotch away though. Too peaty for me. All in all a very cool place to hang out. If I had longer time in the city, I would've returned for sure.

There are SO many amazing cheeses out there--I'll never understand why any restaurant--aside from fast food ones--use American cheese. It would be a lot better with real cheese. The beers I tasted were without exception novelty beers, with overly fruity, herby or bitter tastes. Get your pilsener right and other basics right, first! The food however was excellent. Troost has gone full vegetarian on their burgers and this was the first time in my life I tasted that vegetarian burger replacements have a future. Texture and flavours were spot on. Wouldn't mind coming back for the burgers and will accept that the beers are not as I would like them.

It's a nice spot to stop for a beer after a long day of walking and sightseeing, and I could see this as a nice spot to meet with friends after work if you're from the area.

The spicing was a perfect mix of pepper, garlic - and I think a touch of curry (they wouldn't tell me). I am going to spend the next 6 months here at home trying to recreate the dish. You can try them starting with the Antonia and work your way to the Manke or the other way around (either way it will be a pleasant day). The bar food is legit, I had raw sausage Ossenworst, Huisgemaakt Bierbrood (beer bread), and Bitterballen (toasty croquet made with beef). Have a seat outside facing the canal which allows for a delightful people watching view and relax.
