Great rate for a big clean room. Huge bathroom. Nice Nespresso machina. The pool is quite lovely. Of course this changes in a minute when the crappy guests show up. I took advantage of both Hammam and sauna. REALLY enjoyed until previously mentioned crap guests joined. Oh well. Always the case. No fault of hotel. What is their fault is that hallways outside room stink, like hot rotten eggs. So gross. Probably old carpets. My only real complaint!

The Caesar salad impressed with its presentation and delighted in taste, a small deviation from the classical Caesar salad but surprising in its flavours. The entrecôte with black peppercorn sauce was grilled to perfection, simply delicious ! "U" - as this restaurant is simply called - is a reflection of the Flemish polite form for "You" which is how someone is addressed when being polite. It is also a reference to something of high standard, meaning it should be addressed accordingly, hence the name "U" for this high class restaurant. More than class, it simply serves excellent food and wine. This establishment will soon be at the top of every respectable restaurant review list. Try it out before reservations are only available in the distant future and waiting lists are the norm of the day.

I'd read about this in reviews and thought it would be fine, but on our last day the AC stopped working, and we literally opened the door to the hallway because we were sweating. Also, the sink is flat, so water sits in the bottom of it, and they could use more towel racks. Design trumped functionality a little bit - but as my 5 stars attest, I still think this place is fantastic. We absolutely love this place!

The staff is great, the breakfast is great.... at one time, someone spent a lot of money making this place quite nice. Unfortunately, the shine has worn off quite a bit. The walls in the hallways and elevators are chipped and the paint is coming off. Due to circumstance, I spent the night in this hotel twice in one week (non-consecutive nights). The first time my room was still in quite good condition. The second night, it seemed a bit like it was the room that got rented when nothing else was left. The carpet kind of looked a bit like a CSI crew had sprayed bleach on it, the bathroom sink was missing the stopper portion and yet, the water ran out very slowly. I will admit though that it was very quiet in spite of being above a very busy street and next door to some college aged girls. WiFi works well and is quite fast (better than many hotels), the bar when staffed has a small selection of local beer, coffee (not my favorite but it seems that the Belgians don't really drink coffee). If it sounds like I'm being mean, I'm really not trying to be... this place is far from being a bad place to stay. It'd just be great if someone would, lovingly, take care of it again. The inevitable question... would I stay there again....? Definitely.

Why not let guests set a specific number? But the rooms were comfy & if you chose not to have room cleaned you got free coupons for the bar - that was an extra bonus Welcomed with Mimosas. Quiet location. Water pressure was great. Beds were comfy. We're fans!
