After hauling condensate oil in the 92° heat for 17 hours, (without AC) all I wanted was a shower. I arrive at 8:40 PM, fuel up over $500 worth, and am more than ready to take a shower. After I paid for the fuel and asked for a shower, I was told by Coltin that the showers closed at 9pm, which I knew, hence why I changed my entire route to get there in plenty of time to shower at 8:40pm. He told me he did not have time to clean the shower because by the time that he cleaned the shower, it would be 9pm. There were 3 other employees working. One of which was outside sweeping the parking lot. Without the oil industry, Van Hook wouldn't even be on the map. I remember when there was a time that this place was unmatched in their customer service where they would let me take a shower, even if there were only five minutes for them left to be open because they knew how hard we worked. Sad that Coltin changed the entire view of this place for me after working in the Oil Industry for over 11 years. Do better, Van Hook. No wonder there are 3.2 stars out of five total reviews. I was in new town and at the van hook..not only is everything there way overpriced. But people were asses..not to mention it was 100 below 0..im from Texas..i pray I never have to go to that place again..best thing to do if your in new town..is get out of new town..ive never seen a place so empty and just miserable omg..but fuel was expensive and everything was double priced..im guessing beacuse of oil..again.people there look miserable and I hope to never return read more

I love that they have so much there. Its true that its a one stop shop for road trips. love their fried chicken. Its fantastic. BUT my last visit there for a chicken dinner might be my last. I was there at 7pm, my hot food was packed by an older white man with his hair slicked back. Yes, he wore gloves, but they were the same gloves he came out of the kitchen. He never changed them. He touches the counter, his clothes, the containers, rummaged around under the counter, and TOUCHED my chicken with them and then after he was done, bagged up my food and dismissed me, STILL failed to change his gloves and wash his hands to help the guy behind me. He showed NO intent of changing his gloves for the next guy. Yuck. read more

I stopped to fill up gas, and buy food, drinks, and cigarettes. But I needed to sent a text message, so after only a few short minutes, this man came only and told me to move my vehicle away from BLOCKING THE PUMPS AND IN A RUDE DEMANDING DEMEANOR Wow it's 2am there's 12 or 14 PUMPS and I'm the only person at any of them. The prices are outrageous for fuel, gas, and everything they carry and I knew that, So I only bought a couple beverages buy 2 for the discounted price, and only 10 dollars in gas that's probably the highest price in the state 2.44 a gallon. And I had to be told to move my viehcle in sub zero temptures and I politely went inside to pay, and I asked this man who was acting like he owned the place and not doing any kind of work, what is your name if I may ask, and he crossed his arms in an act of arrogance and defiance and said RAYMONDin not racist against forieners, not unless they cause me to dislike them, wait let me say I am a racist at least towards the government that is nearly all as white as I am. We need 5-6 governors for every state, an more prisenents of this massively diverse and complex nation IT'S NOT SIMPLE LIKE IT WAS 250 YEARS AGO its time we practice what we preach EQUALITY. but back to RAYMOND who I find unfit for employment in any CUSTOMER SERVICE JOB and if I see him again I will never return to spend another cent at VAN HOOK TRAVEL CENTER and I will will only go where prices are fair and employees are polite NOT OUT OF THEIR WAY IN THE COLD TO BE RUDE IN A CONFOUND MANNOR . All of the managers are clearly not doing there job they always do the bare minimum of work so if you ask for something they get pissed that they have to do something else... Like it being 4:30 and trying to order a sausage burrito because most oilfield workers out here have to be at work or be somewhere by 6 so naturally you want something before that so you can go to work... This place need to staff better employees. My husband, whom has been parking his truck in their lot for the past two weeks, went to get some breakfast before work this morning 9/30/2016 and decided he wanted seconds. Well the very rude lady claimed to not be able to serve him another helping even though he was paying for it!! I'm sorry but if I"m paying for a second helping you better damn well give it to me and not tell me no. I have heard that she seems to have an attitude every morning as well. People like this are the reason hard working businesses get bad comments. I'm not saying the company as a whole is responsible but this person clearly is not happy with their job and should probably find another job far away from customer service! read more
