We visited one for breakfast in Baie-Saint-Paul a few weeks ago for breakfast and I gave it five stars. Since it is a chain, this one also gets five stars. We toured this location, but chose not to eat there for lunch. However, we will be back to try it another day. The inside is small with some seating. The pastries, sandwiches and bakery items were similar to those in the Baie-Saint-Paul location. There were quite a few people in the store who had discovered this place and were ordering lunch. It was actually quite crowded. We will return to eat here.

Patisserie Dorville has a surprisingly wide variety of quality items. Their selection of course includes bread, pastries and cakes/tarts, but also includes local cheeses, homemade jams, chocolate and cured meats. We've tried a variety of their chocolate which has been great. In particular I really love their bars with dark chocolate and berries which are excellent. We've also had a number of their tarts, cakes and pastries. The strawberry-melilot tart in particular was both beautiful and extremely delicious and the chocolate eclairs where delicate and not overly sweet. Just delish! We have also enjoyed the bread that we've tried from Dorville. I must admit that I'm often sceptical when a bakery tries to tackle such a wide variety of items. But here at Dorville they have managed to do an excellent job with a variety of offerings including their chocolate, bread and pastries.

You get the sense that you are in a family store (even if it probably isn't) where everyone takes pride in what they sell. They have a lot of cheese from Quebec, France and the Netherlands. In fact they have a lot from all over Europe as well. You can ask for a sample before you buy the cheese. With the cost of some of these cheeses, that only makes sense. We picked up some Quebec cheese this trip but on past trips we bought Dutch cheese. The bakery side has good food as well. We have tried their breads and croissants and would definitely buy them again. There is a case full of pies, tartes,and cakes for sale and we are tempted to bring one home. They always have someone working who is fluent in English if your French is not good.
