An old-school spot serving classic ice cream flavors, and they do it well. There was a line even in April, but it moved at a reasonable pace. Even though the menu was in French, the staff was friendly and accommodated our English. I tried the maple syrup and cinnamon roll flavors. Both were excellent, though the maple syrup was just a tad sweet for my taste. This is definitely high quality ice cream, and the portions are generous for the price. we came here at 9:30pm on a summer Saturday night before we go to the Forestra Lumina, it was packed and the line was out the door. Came here on an unseasonably warm Saturday weekend in November and the line was still about 15 people deep during COVID times. However it moved decently fast. So on the inside everyone comes for the ice cream. I asked if they had any non dairy options and unfortunately they did not. Too bad for me. So my brother Indulged in in a 2 generous scoop cone for $4.55. This is a deal in 2020 as you would easily pay $7-8 for this in MTL. I did also pickup some cheddar cheese for the family. I got to taste a small amount and it was creamy delish. Lots of fresh cheese curd options. *********Come on Coaticook if you are reading this.....non dairy is a growing trend! At the supermarket there are many company's who offer up lactose free ice cream that tastes like dairy ice cream. It would be progressive if you considered providing one or two options. Acting as the largest QC based ice cream company in the province I recommend you charge more for this... A couple of people I normally trust recommended Laiterie de Coaticook to me, and so I had high expectations when I crossed the Canadian border from Vermont on a hot July afternoon. Not only was I underwhelmed by the ice cream, but it didn't take long for me to decide it was just plain bad. I had banana, my go-to flavor, and my daughter had cookies and cream, which she described as "similar to a dairy-free frozen product," meaning it was watery, icy and cloying. As for my banana ice cream... We all know the peels of bananas when underripe are green and that when overripe they are black. It goes without saying that when a banana is ripe the peel is yellow--but, that said, 99% of human beings over the age of say 2 years old know the edible fruit inside a banana is whitish in color, often with small black specks, but definitely not glow-in-the-dark yellow. (Fun fact: the entire banana, itself, is a seed.) The ice cream I received was practically luminous, as if enriched with gamma rays, and it tasted as artificial as it looked. If you ever had cheap banana-flavored candy like Laffy Taffy (maybe you tried it, pulled from the depths of your Halloween candy bag after all the good stuff was gone), well, the flavor of the ice cream I consumed was nearly identical. There was no hint of real banana, no chunks of frozen fruit, just a slick, sugary and watery drool that ran down the cardboard-like cone. Even my local Publix or Shaw's in-store brand is better than this stuff, a pint of Häagen-Dazs or Ben & Jerry's a hundred times better. Best to skip this stop and go to the IGA grocery a mile down the road and purchase something a bit more wholesome, satisfying and edible. The ice cream cones, btw, can be found in Aisle 7. read more

The ice cream place has gained in popularity since the last time I came ! Because of pandemic, they also set up a drive thru service (with less choices), but the service was quick! Ordered blueberry, raspberry sorbet and new flavor, pinneaple coconut! Yum and huge servings for the price! read more

The best kept secret. First, I think Haagen Dazs is the best vanilla ice cream available at the regular market store. I tried other regular ice creams (the Nestlé&Co. kind) and all taste so-so, no where near the HD one. Not to mention the long list of ingredients and they look disgusting if you leave it in the refrigerator for a few hours. The Coaticook Old Fashioned Vanilla ice cream is the one that tastes the closest to the HD. Clearly not the same quality but not far. Then you look at the ingredients. A very short list with the exception of stabilizers which they mention is only 0.2% of the recipe. What's even more surprising, is the amount of fat in the Coaticook Old Fashioned Vanilla ice cream: it is half of that in the Haagen Dazs. So I can eat more ice cream without being (too) worried. read more

I have been to the Laiterie de Coaticook while I was camping in the area with friends. I have been told that it is a very famous stop and that there are always line ups, lucky us there weren't much people when we got there...Well it got really crowdy a few minutes later and until very late that day (We had supper at a nearby restaurant and it was still full of people). The shop offers an extensive selection of flavours (including one that's only served there: an ice cream with maple sugar bits - so good!). The ice cream with maple sugar chunks - anything with "l'erable" (maple) is a winner. The strongest maple flavor I have ever tasted in my life and I have made many visits to Vermont so I should know. I will never eat maple walnut, maple anything stateside again. Coaticook is a cute town, and this ice cream is worth the trip. Ben and Jerry's is lame compared to this. Wow. read more
