Horrendous, uncaring, overbooked practice with condescending staff. It's hard for me to even know…read morewhere to begin. I became a patient of this clinic last fall, and have been attempting to find the root of a host of symptoms ever since. My provider was extremely dismissive of very serious symptoms, including some bloodwork that came back indicative of major systemic problems. In consults with others that use this provider, she seems to always be this way. Speaking of bloodwork, when I needed additional testing, I was asked to come in for an additional blood draw and that it would take "10 minutes" and on three separate days had to wait over an hour, and therefore leave and return another day. Need a referral? Be prepared to wait. For weeks. And for it to be wrong/not taking into account your insurance situation. I waited weeks to hear something from an abdominal ultrasound referral and only after I called again did I learn it had been sent to an out of network clinic that did not have my information and needed to be started all over again. A need for a dermatology referral produced the same result, but fortunately I was able to handle the booking and insurance situation on the phone. They never were able to find the referral. Oh, then there's the one prescription that I was told would be called in (an allergy med) that never was. Ever. And the other (an anti gas med I didn't want to be on and told my provider the second they suggested it I didn't want) that she called in anyway and I was hassled about not picking up. And let's talk about the staff. There's one lady at the appointments desk that has once hung up on me in the middle of a reschedule and, when I asked to switch providers due to dissatisfaction with the one that has seen me for months and been dismissive of my results, was UNBELIEVABLY condescending and rude. There are multiple people working that desk, but every time I get this one a minor request turns into a PROBLEM. If you'd like to say you have a doctor without actually having one, by all means the Frist clinic is correct for you. It's a weird 4th floor urgent care with hospital prices and wait times. At best. If you have something really wrong and want a partner in your health, go literally anywhere else. I'm sure there are exceptions but I feel like this clinic is, overall, a landing spot for people who care very little about their patients' experiences, wellbeing, or outcomes.

From the go, she was arrogant, condescending and completely dismissive of any question I had. I was looking to have a discussion and ask questions regarding my care, but she was bound and determined to shut that down. She proceeded to take out a piece of paper and draw a diagram of how the thyroid works and how medication works, like someone who had not had a history of thyroid issues. I guess she didn't like the fact someone was sitting in front of her that had educated themselves on their condition. I left knowing I would never return.

I was upset I was not being heard and cried. She said she thought my symptoms were mentally driven and ordered a pysch evaluation. I immediately fired her. I saw a different endriconologist and diagnosed with a life threatening condition. The new provider listened acted and has it under control. She also wanted to talk about my daughter and not about why I was there. She ordered labs, which have to drawn at a specific time, which she should now and those results were not accurate and could not be used. I highly suggest not using Dr.J as a provider.

Since my endocrinologist, Dr. Emily Neely, has departed the practice for one not covered by my…read moreinsurance, I can't get my newly appointed doctor, James A. Gaume, to get a prescription refilled. He is totally inaccessible, despite my requests. This review is June 18 and my next scheduled appointment is not until July 15. The practice doesn't appear to care about my running out of a medication today as prescribed by Dr. Neely. They seem perfectly okay to let me go without it. They have consistently not returned calls or responded to messages at their patient portal. They don't appear to have followed up on my medical history to find that this prescription was specially approved previously by my insurance company. The practice's operator let me know that, as a patient, I was expendable to them. I fear that I'll have to go to another practice just to get reasonable medical care.

I ended up coming across Dr. Nancy Lipsitz of Heritage Medical Associates and had a great experience! To start, the medical building has free parking, which already made me happy. Dr. Lipsitz shares a suite with a few other doctors, and their waiting room doesn't have that super uncomfortable waiting room feel to it, which was nice. Mostly by that I mean that it wasn't just chalk full of books and magazines on babies and parenting (which drives me insane), but instead also offered reading materials for those of us who aren't in the baby making business (I spent some time looking at wine and sports magazines). The receptionist was friendly, and I didn't have to wait at all once I filled out my entry form. The exam room was a bit cold, which isn't fun when you aren't wearing much in the clothing department, however, Dr. Lipsitz made me so comfortable I didn't care. She was nice and friendly, she clearly is good at what she does, and though its never fun to be poked and prodded she made me comfortable and didn't drag it out. Thank you Dr. Lipsitz.

She was very sweet and thorough and sat and talked with me about what I do in my life when she was clearly busy. I am veryyy picky about my doctors and from my first impression, I've found "the one"! Dr. Bal is a treasure! He listens, he cares, he's kind, he's courteous, he makes me feel like he…read moretruly cares for my health. He has been my PCP at least 25 years, when he took over the practice of my previous physician. He doesn't rush my visits, takes the time to answer any questions I have, and makes certain I understand any instructions he may have for me. His staff is also amazing, and they're quick to respond when I call the office with questions or RX requests. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else, and my husband, also a patient of Dr. Bal's, agrees with me. If I've been hospitalized, his staff gets me in to see him within a few days after release. He follows through, and in 25 years, has never "dropped the ball".

I eventually left, only having gotten myself weighed and had my blood pressure taken. Truly a waste of time, I would not recommend anyone waste their time with this place. Guess its fitting for American Healthcare, though.
