I visited the Vanderbilt walk in clinic near my home on Sunday morning with a fever of 102.4 (I NEVER run fevers). I had a horrible headache & my throat felt like it was on fire! I also noticed an unusual sharp pain in my lower left abdomen that seemed to appear at the same time the other symptoms started. I knew something was wrong, hence the reason I chose Vandy walk-in-clinic. I have insurance & was charged $100.00 even though my Insurance card said "Co-Pay $25 Urgent Care" 1st Red Flag! The MA that took my vitals had a bad attitude & acted like I was a bother to her bc she had to work on a Sunday morning. They did a quick urinalysis. When the female PA entered the exam room, she had very little eye contact & asked the same questions the MA had just asked me! The PA had her face in her laptop, typing, for the majority of the appt. I explained that my throat hasn't hurt like this since I got my tonsils out as a young child & It prevented me from sleeping, hurt to eat, drink & even swallow. I mentioned my headache being pretty bad & thought maybe it was due to my unusual fever & BP being elevated from the pain. I purposely pointed out my lymph nodes near my throat felt swollen hoping she would check for infection. She quickly shined a light in my throat & checked my ears. She did NOT feel for swollen lymph nodes. She did however examine the pain in my lower left abdomen & asked if I had a recent colonoscopy! (Yes, I actually just had one 2 months ago!) The hands on, "physical exam" was very quick & very limited! She sat back down in front of her laptop & to my surprise said, if you hadn't just had a colonoscopy, I would suspect diverticulitis! Your urine was perfectly clean, no sign of a kidney infection etc. Even more disturbing.. she said she recommends me going directly to the ER & having a CT of my head done to rule out a possible Brain bleed!! (I chose a walk-in clinic so that I could avoid sitting in an ER for hours). She said she could have a blood test done there at the clinic BUT the results would take longer to come back & the ER would get them back immediately! I asked how MUCH longer for the results if I got the blood test done while I was right then & there? she said "oh, not until tomorrow & I'm not working tomorrow!!" (wait, WHAT? So, she's the ONLY medical professional at the Vandy clinic that can read a blood test result??). I left that office feeling less than impressed & surely didn't feel ANY relief as to why I was running a fever, throat on fire & a pounding headache! After thinking about it all evening, I called the Vandy clinic the next morning & expressed my frustration with the medical staff during my visit the prior morning & they suggested I come back in. When I checked in, the gentleman asked for my insurance card & without hesitation said, that will be $25. I explained I had just been charged $100 the morning before & he pointed to my card & said, no, it says right here.. "Urgent Care Co-pay $25" The individual at check in the day before just didn't take the time to READ! Infuriating! The MA & PA that I saw on Monday were 100% better & the PA immediately ran a Strep test & a Covid test & explained EVERYTHING to me. I waited the few minutes for the test results & he came back in with the results of my test that I did not have strep throat but indeed, did have the new strain of Covid "razor-blade strain", which explained my throat hurting so bad! This explained the fever, the headache etc. He was kind, professional & direct. I am so glad I called & went back in the following day & left with a diagnosis. read more

My daughter had a 2:30 appointment and as of 3:45 she has not been seen. She stepped out of the room to see what was taking so long and was told that they thought she had left. She's only 19, she came her to be seen regarding a lump in one of her breast. This treatment is why some people don't seek care. I asked the front desk for help to see what was the delay, neither of the 3 women sitting there budged, one said that they're behind. There have been people who came in after us and have been seen and left. This is insane!! I wish I could rate this a zero!! read more

This is not a review of a specific clinic but the call center and staff that it now sends you to to in order to get in touch with anyone (instead of having a direct line to the clinic ) is completely not helpful and full of people that are extremely rude. I've never had a worse customer support experience. I ended the call by telling the woman she needed to be more polite to customers and felt like that is not something that should have to be said to any professional especially with the amount of money this institution makes. I had a disappointing experience at the Vanderbilt Walk-In Clinic in Belle Meade on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. From the moment I arrived, the staff's lack of professionalism and courtesy was evident. I arrived around 7:20 AM, hoping to be one of the first patients since I needed to go directly to work after my appointment. As I opened the front door to the clinic, the first staff member I saw at the front desk immediately got up and walked away, giving the impression that she didn't want to be bothered. I even said "Good morning" loudly to acknowledge her, but she ignored me. At the same time, a staff member walking towards me and the front door rudely told me to leave because they weren't open yet. When I asked what time they opened, she curtly responded, "7:30." When I asked what time it was, she replied, "7:23" in an abrupt tone. I understand policies about opening times, but forcing a patient to stand outside in heavy rain instead of allowing them to sit in the lobby for a few minutes shows a complete lack of basic empathy and compassion. While they weren't aware, I was recovering from the flu; this made my wait in the rain even more difficult. To make matters worse, after I stepped outside, the front desk staff member shut and locked the door as though I would try to come back in, which was both insulting and demoralizing. Finally, at 7:29 AM, I re-entered and asked if they were open and if i could now come in. The same staff member at the front, said, "You can come in and have a seat. I'll check you in." By then, I was already frustrated by the lack of basic courtesy and professionalism. Later, during my visit, I was called back for bloodwork. The LPN who took my blood also instructed me to provide a urine sample and walked me to the restroom. After completing the sample, I waited in the hallway for someone to assist me. When no one came, I walked over to another area to ask if my specimen was sufficient. A staff member from dermatology went to check but never returned with an update. Left waiting again in the hallway, I eventually peeked around the corner at the nurses' station where I saw three or four nurses sitting together at a nurse station desk talking. When I asked if I was finished, one of them looked up and casually replied, "Oh yeah, you're done." To make matters worse, when I later reviewed my medical records, I noticed that my chart falsely stated I had been properly closed out, with the nurse informing me I was finished. That did not happen. I was left standing around with no communication, and no one followed through to ensure my visit was properly concluded. As I was leaving the clinic, the staff members at the front desk said "Have a nice day," and I politely replied, "You do the same." and walked out of the front door. This experience left me frustrated and disappointed. A healthcare facility should be a place of professionalism and care, but this clinic lacked basic courtesy, communication, and follow-through. Do. Not. Go. Here. Scammy as it gets. Before I had to come into this office I already knew I was having an insurance issue. I told them my whole situation and asked that they be upfront with everything that would be a charge because this would most likely be out of pocket. The front office said the average cash price for an office visit was $150 and if they ran anymore tests it would go up from there. I had an office visit plus an EKG. Cut to the bill coming and the total was $564! My receipt said I was charged $64 for an EKG and $500 for the visit itself. So I call Vanderbilt to dispute the charge and they have a completely different number. Less than what my bill says but not by much. So if I had paid it online they would've gotten the extra money. They wouldn't budge BUT acknowledged their disappointment in the office I went to and the "misinformation" they gave. Cool cool. Billing aside, I live in Nashville yet they sent my prescription to Ohio. I live in Nashville, but they have my home address as three cities over, and the bill came from a different clinic all together. Needless to say, incompetent from start to the bitter end. Now to Dr. Hornsby. No bedside manner, was short with me, became exasperated with me for being scared, and to top it all off told me I could PRAY the anxiety away. At a Drs. office. Another shining moment was me overhearing a nurse say, "that a patient was nervous and wanted the drs help" and he said, "I don't care what she wants" then came right into my room to introduce himself. Unfortunately this clinic has started to decline in this last few months. This last incident was the cherry on top. I'm a very patient person, so it takes A LOT for me to get upset. The doctors/providers themselves have all been great for the most part, however the staff otherwise has been unreliable and unprofessional. There have been times where staff is standing around, laughing, instead of taking care of patients that have been waiting for too long--I remeber on time specifically, I finally got I'm a room after waiting (I understand that waits are normal, no problem) but I was in the room for about 2 hours before a nurse finally came in to take my vitals/asleep what's wrong. My sister was with me at the appointment and seeing how awful I was, I had a pretty bad fever and feeling terrible, she went out to ask why it was taking so long. We kept hearing laughing/joking around (people should have fun at their jobs, nothing against that) and it took my sister confronting them before the nurse finally came in. Then it was another hour wait for a doctor to come in at that point. There were only one or two other people being seen at that time. Today, I came in for a possible ear infection/strep/etc, I'm in a lot of pain and don't feel well and since it's the holidays, I knew it was going to be a long wait. I got to the clinic at 11am and got a spot, being told it's going to be a 2.5 hour to 3 hour wait. I didn't have an issue with this and was told by the front desk staff I didn't need to wait in the lobby as it was packed, tney would give me a call when it was getting close. I've been going to this urgent care for a few years now and have been told plenty of times before that during long waits it's completely acceptable to wait in your car or even go home and come back. Me and my family have never had an issue with this. Considering how long the wait was going to be, I decided I would grab a medicine ball from Starbucks for my throat and go home for a bit. I got a call at 12:15 saying a room would be ready soon for me, and I said great, I'll be there in 15 minutes. I showed up and proceeded to stand in the lobby for an hour while other people came and went. Around 1:45 I asked the front desk (same lady as before) if I had been skipped. She then proceeded to tell me that because I left the premises, I was kicked to the back of the line. The person on the phone didn't tell me there was any issue and there's never been an issue with leaving and coming back before. I remember very clearly, the front desk woman did not say at any point "do not leave the premises". I was confused and explained how I had been told there was a room for me and the person on the phone didn't communicate to me that anything was wrong. The front desk lady had acknowledged me when I came in, so why didn't she bother telling me that I had been kicked to the back of the line? She insisted she told me about the policy and that she tells everyone about it, yet whenever she was talking to someone at the front desk, she never said it to them either. My family has visited this clinic and told me it was bullish*t. There's no such policy, or if there really is, then the staff has done an awful job at communicating it, as they've been letting everyone leave and come back if needed for years. I was so frustrated and on top of it, feeling sick, and ended up crying because of how overwhelmed I was. I got into a room about 2pm, wasnt seen until 2:45pm (the doctor was very nice and helpful, but everything leading up to that just wasn't worth it) and didn't leave until 3:30. So 11am to 3:30...that's 4.5 hours. So in total, 3.5/4 of those hours were spent waiting. I want to clarify, just to make it crystal clear, having to wait isn't an issue itself--The issue arises when there is poor communication that results in YOU getting screwed over. So, if you're considering going to Vanderbuilt Walk-in Clinic (Bellemeade), I would encourage you to look at other urgent cares in the area as they've made it clear YOUR time doesn't mean sh*t to them and they seem to know what policies they do or don't follow. As to the clinic itself, if you're reading this... do better. read more

I spoke to a doctor for maybe 10 minutes (but got charged for a "45 minute visit"), got a flu/Covid test and a Zofran shot, and two weeks later got hit with a nearly $1000 bill. I scheduled a walk-in appointment online specifically requesting a strep test for work. I was there probably less than 10 minutes total. They suggested a strep test and a Covid and flu test. I got a bill for over $1000. I argued with Vanderbilt billing and they brought it down to $888. For some reason they gave me some proprietary Covid and flu test that cost $474. It also seems they charged me for a new outpatient intake appointment, but again, the amount of evaluation doesn't seem like it would qualify for a full new intake billing. A real bummer read more

After inquiring about billing, I didn't end up waiting to be called. They asked for my insurance, and said nothing. I said, "how much will this visit cost?" And the response was, "It depends on what they do back there--but, well, that's--more of a billing question." I sat down waiting for my name to be called in an empty room, and pulled up this location on google reviews. There are dozens of reviews about shady billing tactics, and they are all over Yelp here. This isn't ethical. People are coming into an urgent care because they are desperate. By not being upfront about cost--the cost to simply be seen by a doctor--is screwed up. Please do not go here, or at least, read the reviews first. I ended up going to CareNow several blocks down where they were upfront about the cost of their visit. read more

Waited 1.5 hours on a Sunday. Then, doctor misdiagnosed me, called later to advise I did in fact have the issue and would send my sample in for further review and that I would hear back in 2-3 days. I called 5 days later. Sample was lost, no results. They failed without apology. read more

I dropped something heavy on my foot. Oh, it hurt, but I figured it would soon be fine. The next morning I saw that it was not getting better and a multi-color bruise was spreading all over my foot. The pain was there, too, so after a couple of days, I went to the walk-in clinic. It was about 5 PM and there were only a few folks waiting. I like that the waiting room has two sections - one for sick people and the other for "well patients." If you are well, are you a patient? But, I saw what they meant. I was processed quickly and a nurse took vitals. I go to Centennial Medical, but the computer had my meds up to date. I didn't realize that records could be accessed like that, but it could save your life if you were taken by ambulance to a hospital different from your system. Soon Dr. Corey Batson came in, made a few pleasantries, poked the swelling, and sent me for an x-ray. In a few minutes he told me that I didn't have a fracture (though an official reading would be there in 2 hours), messaged a prescription for a salve, and sent me on my way. Total time about 45 minutes. The lobby floor gleams, people are friendly and seem to know their jobs, and it was quick. I am glad I went there and would recommend it for those types of illnesses or injury where a walk-in clinic makes sense. read more

I've been here multiple times for different reasons and have been misdiagnosed and to make me feel bad about the misdiagnosis that it was my fault and putting me down about the issues I had going on. But it shows you all their locations again, and buries the location you just selected way the heck down the list. This place is incredible, I went twice with my kids and was seen immediately and in and out fast. the staff is kind and accommodating. Nurse practitioner (I believe his name is Derek Stratton) was absolutely amazing, so kind and personable, made my kids feel comfortable and was so informative! Highly recommend! read more

The term "walk in" is applied loosely here. I actually had an appointment but still waited 30-40 minutes to be seen. Although I paid a "specialist" co payment, I was seen only by a NP, and unless her specialty is "thoughts and prayers", my speciality needs were not addressed. I came away with only an Rx for 10 prednisone tablets and a completely useless multi page print out which is not at all helpful. If I go here again...and that's questionable, I will expect to be seen by an MD, and I will not pay a specialists co pay unless my specialty needs are appropriately addressed. If it was possible to head this review with 0 or negative number stars, I would have. Addendum: I received an explanation of benefits from BC/BS for this visit which designated my co pay as $25. I contacted Vanderbilt again and after I called their bluff, they finally refunded $20. Making this refund was incredibly slow. I am considering contacting BC/BS as I feel they need to know how poorly this was handled. read more

I would not use them. They will quote you a price then quadruple it when they bill you. They will then gaslight you and condescend to you by telling you that you were not told that price. They will tell you the sky is green, up is down, and blue is black. You will end up feeling like you're dealing with a payday loan operation. I called them and asked the price on some basic medical tests (the most basic--metabolic data, a lipids panel, etc.), and they told me that it would cost $100 and that insurance didn't cover it. I asked if there would be any other charges, and they said there would not be. They then billed an insurance company where I no longer have a policy (despite the fact that, according to them, it's not covered by insurance) and when that charge ($350 on top of the $100) was bounced back, they passed it on to me. Anyway, Customer Service Hell then followed. I was promised discounts that never appeared on my bill. I left message after message. I was stonewalled. I was ignored. It's still ongoing, but I already feel that I've been treated both dishonestly and disrespectfully by Vanderbilt, and I will not use them again if I can avoid it. The doctors and staff there were great, but I cannot recommend that you take advantage of their services. There's a significant chance you won't be treated fairly. I would give this clinic negative stars if Yelp would let me. read more

This is the second time taking my daughter to the Walk-in clinic in Nolensville for a mild illness. I will NEVER be returning to any VUMC walk-in clinics ever again. Which is unfortunate because the NP were great and the care they showed was Amazing. The first visit was for a strep test that came back positive. When I received the bill it was $498 for the 10 minutes the NP was in to do the evaluation. When I spoke with customer service they informed me there was a "new patient charge" included with the charge (thought it was not separated out). I told them that NO WHERE in the office was it posted or was I told I would be paying for a new patient fee. Since I'd already paid the one-time fee I brought my daughter back for a second visit. This time it was a 25 minute visit and the charge was $318! When I spoke with billing I was told this is the "normal" fee and I'd "saved $180 since I wasn't a new patient". Are you kidding me?!! Save yourself the pain of being financially raped by Vanderbilt and go to another walk-in clinic. The "convenience" of location is NOT worth the violation you feel when you receive your bill. Walgreens/ Vanderbilt walk in clinic. Care was fine but charges were ridiculous and not posted at facility or on clinic website. Got to Kroger Little clinic. Same care and treatment for half the price. Vanderbilt $413 for flu, strep test, and assessment by a nurse practitioner. Little clinic $234 for the exact same services. Walked in on a Friday at 3pm was with the doctor by 4pm and out of there by 5pm. I did have a strep test done- it was not a super comfy experience but when is a strep test. I did end up with strep so the prescription was sent over easy To Walgreens. The front desk staff was so sweet and helpful they made the experience so much better. Was glad to be seen quickly and out as fast as possible- definitely will make this my clinic read more

Been to the Bellevue location a few times (with three different insurers) and every time, they find seemingly "creative" ways to code things so that my insurance ends up billing hundreds of extra dollars for things I'd assumed were covered/copay. It feels like a shakedown every time. I don't know if it's VUMCs business model, or our whole corrupt healthcare system, but I guess I can start by avoiding Vanderbilt altogether in the future if possible. read more

This facility just opened in late January so it still has that new clinic smell (and I mean that in a good way). The staff was really friendly which is saying something considering I walked in about 30 minutes before closing (yes, I was one of THOSE people #sorry). I was in and out in under 30 minutes. The best part... it's sandwiched between a Kroger with a pharmacy and a CVS so any prescribed medications are only a short walk away. On, and if you need a cherry on top, a few stores down is a Starbucks! You can treat yourself to the adult equivalent of a lollipop for not crying when they made you step on the scale :) Overall, great experience and much less hassle than going to a hospital. read more

I have no clue why people give such poor reviews of this clinic. I have gone to this clinic multiple times with zero complaints- and I am the biggest snob on proper healthcare around. The clinic has always been very clean. The front desk staff has never been rude either on the phone or in person. The nurses, technicians, nurse practitioners and doctors have always listened to my concerns, taken what I consider the highest level of care for my health issues and shown tremendous professionalism and compassion. There have been times when I've had to wait in the car during the Pandemic but that's understandable. It's easy to book an appointment through MyHealthAtVandy app. Yesterday, I felt horrible. I made the appointment and arrived early. There was almost no one in the waiting room. I was seen by NP Kristen. She did testing to cover all possible causes for my fever and discomfort. I had tested negative on at-home Covid swab but know that those aren't very reliable. Too many false negatives. My Covid test came back positive. We talked about options for meds and worked together to decide best course of treatment for me. I had a say in my own care which is important to me but she was in full agreement. I couldn't have received better care at any other walkin clinic. Believe me, this old gal has tried them all! As a patient with almost every discipline of medicine at Vanderbilt, it's nice to know that all of my physicians have full access to my records and that the clinic, in turn, has access to my records and medications. It's not a short drive from my home to the clinic but it's definitely worth it to me to receive this level of care. My co-pay was $5. No clue why so many people post such comments. I suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinion but some people can never be pleased. Give this clinic a try! read more

This clinic did completely unnecessary tests on me (I had 0 symptoms warranting them) and then proceeded to send them to a lab for further evaluation since they came back negative. As a healthcare worker myself, I know for a fact that the tests ordered went against all guidelines. If I had felt better and was not so out of it, I would have refused the testing. Whether they were just "practicing" because it was an inexperienced intern or what, I'm not sure. I now have an obnoxiously high bill for less than mediocre care on what should have been a quick and easy diagnosis. I would NOT recommend this clinic. read more

Unpleasant staff who were busy and did not listen to my symptoms. They kept trying to brush off how I was feeling and the distressing symptoms I was having. They sent me to get an ultrasound and I had to read my results online. I'm a registered nurse so I understand healthcare and medical jargon but still the results were concerning. No one called me until 2 weeks after I got the results and still were incredibly rude on the phone. As a healthcare professional I was extremely disappointed.
