This place operates under two names for some reason (Vanier Pizza & Subs and Pizza Marya) so I am posting my review here, as well.
The pizza is adequate, the customer service needs a lot of work.
I'll admit that it's no piece of cake to find my house right now. The landlord removed the number--I'm not sure why--and it wasn't replaced despite several requests. The porch light blew out following a recent storm (which left us without electricity for nearly 10 hours, so the contents of our fridge are gone and that's why we ordered pizza). I only noticed the light was busted after I ordered and tried to turn it on. So I kept all the lights inside on and watched at the window.
Our house number ends in 08, and it's between -06 and -10. Thanks to GPS and common sense, I've never had a driver struggle to find it despite the missing number.
I saw the driver arrive and waved, but in the 20 seconds it took me to grab a tip for his trouble and open the door, he was gone.
The driver showed up three minutes later and, while I was trying to apologize, lectured me about how he spent 15 minutes looking for my home. Kudos to the cooks for speed, because I first saw their driver 14 mins before our scheduled delivery window so apparently he got there 12 minutes after I ordered! He helpfully explained that next time I should turn on a light, and interrupted me again when I tried to explain that it was not working.
I'm disappointed because I have enjoyed food from Pizza Marya before, but reception at the dirty take-out counter has always been, at best, lukewarm. I could overlook that, but the final straw is being treated condescendingly and with loud lecturing by their driver this time. There is no shortage of competition in Vanier, and I have tried to give this place a chance. I'll go back to one of their friendlier competitors in the future. read more
