Cool old pub in Dublin! Definitely worth stopping in for a pint and some food! Love the stained glass windows too

This was on the list recommended by our local friends. And we are so glad to walk into this charming, historical pub with cozy and chill vibe. Don't let the smaller menu fool you. We had the toasties dishes, and they are warm and filling, perfectly paired with Guinness, especially for the cold rainy day. The servers are incredibly friendly and fun to chat with. The place was packed the day we went, everyone worked hard, efficiently, and still able to maintain a great attitude. Highly recommend!

Love this pub. Ornate interior with sculpted woodwork in fine detail brings a cozy atmosphere. Waitstaff is excellent. The back part of the pub was where the women used to congregate "back in the day". So I am told. There is also a stuffed fox in a case that is worthy look. Food was really good. When I return to Ireland, I'll go back for sure.

Delicious haddock and chips with salad and mushy peas. Paired with an orchard thieves cider! What a great day!

Fun Irish pub atmosphere. They were a tad busy when we first arrived but they still took our order quickly. Hubby ordered the Irish stew which was rich and flavorful. It was paired with mashed potatoes which were quite dry, but the stew did help balance that. I had the fish n chips. The fish was amazing. Very light and airy batter and it was cooked perfectly. Served on a bed of mushy peas which were the perfect balance of peas and mint. Paired with a little mixed salad. Everything was lovely. We'll return on next years visit.

Love this pub! Suggested by a local and 100% nailed it. Enjoyed the fish and chips. Guinness poured of course. Very nice bartender and waitress.

Stumbled on this gem at the recommendation of the docent at the Dublin Castle. So glad I listened. Amazing fish and chips, chicken burger, and beef stew! There is a vegan burger option for anyone interested. The service and ambiance exceeded my expectations.

Typical Irish pub with history, can imagine its golden days when you walk in. Great atmosphere, with a few screens for games.

What a great place!! I cannot say enough good things. Cozy pub, amazing and friendly staff, and the food was excellent. Not going to lie, I think the bacon and cabbage is the unsung hero here, don't miss out on it. The sauce was incredible.

Iconic place, good drinks, crazy busy when we were there but overall good fun. The floors are mad sticky and something or someone bit my ankle lol. It was definitely something. Extremely loud here so you have to yell to have a conversation but that was all part of the experience I suppose.

Came here for a story-telling event. Food and drink was not included, so we got there early because to see if we could order some from the pub to have during the show. The employee I spoke to seemed a bit confused by what I meant and we ended up sitting down in the pub and eating beforehand. The food was pretty good. Very solid. Amazing? Not quite. I added salt to my chowder, and my father said the patty of his burger could've used more salt/seasoning. I know salt level is personal preference though, and as an American maybe I'm used to saltier food. Still, this was my first time in an Irish pub and it seems like a fun place.

Came for lunch on the weekend and it was very very easy to find a seat. Irish coffee was really bomb. Great service although I did sit at the counter. The seafood chowder was okay, I'm glad I tried it but I don't necessarily recommend it. It was good but it wasn't anything special. I am in love with the beef and guinness stew. So full of flavor and the potatoes were a perfect consistency. I think the food hours on the website are wrong, I think it's just 12-6pm for food. I tried to come on Friday night at 6:30pm since the website said it was until 7pm and they were no longer serving food and it was a packed house inside on all floors. I'd come back for the food. It's a very loud pub/ drinking situation at night if that's your vibe.

Had to excuse ourselves from the table multiple times to freshen drinks. The food was good. Once again, absolute star was the Buffalo Wings! Ireland? I mean what??? Upon entering it was slightly confusing as to go upstairs or into the bar area to find the hostess to be seated & with no one there to help us we walked into the Bar area to the right & ordered a few Guinness's & waited for someone to seat us somewhere. We ended up being seated in the entry area right at the entrance which was fine because it was super loud up the stairs. We ordered the Pork Pie & The Beef Casserole. Both were really good & filling. The service was decent & the ambiance was nice although it was very, very loud. Overall it was a great meal with above average prices but I'm not sure we'd go back next time due to the other factors.

From the…read moreoutside, it plants itself confidently among Dublin's historic streets with a façade that promises hearty fare and good pints; inside, the space is warm and inviting with dark wood, exposed brick, beautiful murals, and comfortable seating that encourages lingering. My party of six walked in on a Wednesday night at around 7:30pm; at that time, the restaurant was about half-full, but filled up over the course of our meal. The menu has plenty of options ranging from healthy salads to traditional Irish dishes to your standard hearty pub fare. Drinks are also fairly priced here, and they have a good range of ales and lagers on tap (and of course, the classic Guinness). I opted for their Rustic Dublin Coddle (€20.50), which is a sizeable bowl of warming soup with two chargrilled, tender pork sausages, smoky bacon, soft potatoes, and onion, served with toasted sourdough bread. I appreciated the clean taste of the soup (made with an herbed chicken broth), which cut the rich fattiness of the sausage and bacon. I do wish the soup had been served with a more traditional Irish brown bread, but the sourdough was tasty nonetheless. Another great dish was the Waterloo Prime Irish Beef Burger (€19), which is a large patty of juicy, prime Irish beef served atop a toasted bun, with red onions, baby gem lettuce, pickled gherkins, and a tangy smoked Dublin cheddar. Some friends ordered the Superfood Salad (€15), which has a plethora of fresh vegetables and grains, but they noted it was quite bland, even with the French dressing. Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side for a pub, but I find Waterlooo Bar unique in that the atmosphere feels classic but lively: you get that laid-back Dublin pub energy with a hint of sophistication that makes it great for both casual meals and nights out. The food is solid if not stellar, the vibe is fun, and prices are reasonable for the area; a satisfying pick for an Irish pub dinner.

Menu has a good selection of Irish dishes from seafood chowder up to lamb stew and pies. We ordered the potato soup, seafood chowder, 'banjo' burger with onion rings. The soups arrived first and the seafood chowder was loaded with huge pieces of fish, potatoes (not many) with a creamy rich base. Flavor was incredible and in itself a full meal. Served in a large crock style bowl. The potato soup was minus any whole potatoes. It was a rich creamy base with plenty of flavor and very hearty. The burger was really a double cheeseburger with plenty of cheese, grilled onions, what appeared to be a mayonnaise based sauce on a soft hamburger roll. Really tall enough that it was tough getting your mouth around it. Very well seasoned burgers and the onions were a nice touch. The onion rings were huge and had a very light batter on them. They served in a metal bowl to keep them hot. For dessert the apple crumble was ordered which was served in a large dish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This could have been warmer but still was good.. The 5 star rating is for the chowder as it outshone the rest of the meal although the burger was definitely a close second. Definitely will return to try other dishes when we come back to the city.

The meat and veggies were plentiful, the portion generous, and it was tasty enough but maybe on the bland side? It was served with a side of braised red cabbage which we really liked: sweet but not sour like pickled cabbage. And house-made brown stout bread, also very good. The wife had a Guinness and I, thinking it too cliché to order Guinness as a tourist in Ireland, tried a different stout whose name I've forgotten from the ample selection. But comparing the two, so much better! The menu offers a wide variety of traditional Irish dishes, more than most of the similar pubs in the area. As well as the other expected pub type food: sandwiches, burgers, etc. As for desserts, if we were hungrier, the wife might have ordered the Irish Whiskey Bread & Butter Pudding. The hubby would probably get his dessert later, as the selection was limited and neither that nor the Apple Crumble appealed. Sitting at the bar we had a more personalized experience than were we at a table. The bartender offered to take a photo of me behind the bar which I of course accepted. We made the right choice in coming here.
