My hair is orange with streaks, basically no dimensions and no highlights at the back. It makes me so mad!!! The salon interior was beautiful and clean when I first walked in, and the front desk greeted me right away. I think I waited maybe 2 minutes max before my colorist, Jackie, came to get me. I don't have enough words to say how amazing Jackie was. She was super friendly, attentive, and knew exactly how to make my hair look beautiful. Excellent customer service, and she is a true master at her craft! I booked a full balayage and blow dry/style. I like that this salon is transparent with their pricing, so I had a good ballpark of how much I was going to spend. The only thing I didn't love was when they added an extra service of using Olaplex on my hair that I didn't ask for, nor did I know it was going to be used, which cost an extra $58. So I could have saved a little bit of money there, but my hair came out so beautiful it was worth it. It came out to $370 total, and most places in Jersey City (where I currently live) had starting prices of $350. While this salon was on the high end of my budget, it was still within a place I was comfortable spending. I'd come back here again for sure! read more

Nick has been my stylist for the past 6 years and never has there been a time where I left less than ecstatic about my hair. So to start the place is very cute and in a good location, the front desk staff were great. I made an appointment for partial highlights and blow dry with a top stylist whose name I'll keep out of the review. Overall i thought the initial consultation was great and was excited as I felt like she understand the color and style I was going for. However she was extremely rushed and when it came time for the bowl and toning (which is what I think the major part especially when going lighter) I was passed off to another person. She kept coming back in between other clients to check on the color and check in but it's not really what i was expecting since I was paying for her experience. My hair turned out ok at best, strandy in the front not blended well at all, and not the color I was aiming for. I made an appointment to retone but i ended up canceling as i was pretty disappointment with the experience. It's a decent salon but if you are trying to establish go elsewhere because it seems they handle their already established clients more and kinda pass off the newer clients which is unfortunate. read more

I love Nicole! She's a sweetheart. I originally found Vanity Salon through Yelp. Their raving reviews sealed the deal for me. I came in about six months before my wedding because I have one patch of gray that I wanted to "disappear" without having to get a full head of highlights or dye. Nicole took one look at me at my consultation and told me it was an easy fix. We tried it out with plenty of time to spare before the wedding, and she was right; the grays did disappear without changing my natural look. I've since gone back for touch-ups, a glaze, and haircuts. My wedding has come-and-gone (it was September 16th), but I love this salon so much that I will continue coming here. Who knows? I followed Nick from his previous salon to Vanity because he is truly is the best. He has been my hair stylist for 5 years now and has consistently provided excellent service every single time! He is an exceptionally skilled colorist and covers my grey roots perfectly. Whether I'm wanting to lighten my hair with caramel highlights or darken my hair again - he always achieves the exact results that I want. My stylist is Anthony the owner and wouldn't trust my hair to anyone else! Well at least anyone outside of Vanity salon. Everyone there is great you can't go wrong. I have been going for over a year and a half based on a recommendation from a friend. From the moment you walk in you are always greeted by a smiling face from behind the front desk and asked if there is anything they can get for you (drink, snack). Before getting in the chair the stylist goes over what it is you are trying to achieve and then they will go with you step by step what needs to be done to get your desired results. They are very honest and will always give you their opinions. They take their time and you never feel rushed. My hair has never looked and felt sooo good. Anthony really helped me get my hair back to "healthy" from all the damage done by my previous salon. Healthy hair I would say is their top priority and would never do anything to your hair that would damage it. I always walk out with a big smile on my face. I have had color, highlights, cuts, treatments, and updo's (including my wedding) and have never been disappointed. Love this place! After my stylist retired, it was so hard for me to find the right salon and the right stylist. Well, it's a match made in heaven. I feel super safe going here especially with Covid pandemic. They sanitize everything!! Alyesha did my haircut and color. I must say, this is the healthiest my hair has been in a very long time. I have been coming here for a few years and continue to be satisfied. Alyssa took care of my long hair without damaging it, then did a great job adding unusual colors to it. I have a great cut, healthy ends, and peekaboo blue and purple highlights. I am a professional, so having well-maintained layers and appropriate balayage lets me get away with the fun hues underneath without looking too young or messy. My hair was waist-length and brown for many years. I never got it professionally cut because salons treated it like normal length hair, which means they yanked on it while wet, pulled it out, and even let it get into the drain during the wash. Alyssa was very respectful of my request to keep it long - no pressure to 'normalize' it or secretly snip off more inches while I wasn't looking. She worked with me to trim it, add some layers, and lighten the top to keep me looking youthful. When I came in one day and surprised her by saying I wanted blue highlights, she was totally up for it. I walked out with a secret underlayer of blue. Over my sessions, I've changed it up in hue and added purple, etc, and it looks wonderful, even when it fades. I look forward to my appointments. read more

After moving to Bloomfield, I've been trying to find a (semi-) affordable local hair salon that won't butcher my very straight hair. Vanity Salon is definitely a bit pricey (it seems everything in Montclair is) but Alyssa did a wonderful job chopping 10 inches of my hair off. And when she heard that my engagement party was later that same day, she also worked some ironing magic and curled my hair perfectly. While this salon has a great atmosphere and fantastic service, I do have to say you should look elsewhere if you have short hair. I'm sure they work wonders with long hair. Nicole was very nice and tried to make it work, but it just didn't happen. The cut was off, and wasn't representative of the picture I showed her of my usual cut. She added way too much styling product, which volumized it so much that it was spherical. Sadly, I'll be making the commute to NYC, until I find another place out here. read more

I've been looking for a new salon that would take care of my hair. Vanity won out because of its convenient location, clean aesthetic and great customer service. I'm a guy who likes to change things up with my hair, and I needed someone who would understand that. Enter Christina, who sat me down and talked to me about my hair history, what I wanted and gave me her input. 40 minutes later I walked out with a new do that made me happy and easy to manage. I'll be back shortly to touch up the cut, but I know when it's time to change the look up again, I won't have any issues. Prices were reasonable, salon was beautiful and everybody I came in contact with was friendly. Only downside is the parking situation, but that's not their fault.
