I love Karla! She's always a joy to chat with, and has definitely gained more clientele over the years. I've been coming to her for a few years now - her prices are good, you get a 15% discount if you re-book ahead and she is attentive. You'll wait 10-15 mins if she's behind schedule. If you request her to tweeze she will go in and use her super tweezing skills to get any stragglers out. Came here for a Brazilian and was very pleasantly surprised. I had a groupon (this is how I like to try new places), but it didn't seem to affect the service I received at all. The owner is friendly and professional and doesn't make you feel uncomfortable at all. She is very competent, no stray hair (which is always the worst, because no one wants to deal with them themselves). The spa isn't as fancy as some other locations, but it is clean and fresh. The whole procedure is also very clean and sterile, which is always important. If you book repeat appointments, you get a discount, and everything is already so reasonably priced! read more

Super disappointed. The waxing process was extremely painful- way worse than any other Brazilians I've gotten. The area was red and burning the entire day and I found red and white bumps by the end of day when I checked. The next day I noticed there were burn marks. Contacted Karla, she was nice enough to offer either a refund or next wax on her. She said it's not her wax's fault, but everyone reacts differently. Given that she suggested it might be a reaction to her wax, I didn't want to risk going back to have another reaction so I asked for a refund. She then asked me to send pictures for proof over email which I didn't feel comfortable doing. I went to the salon on 3 separate occasions afterwards and called, no one answered and the place was closed. Never got my money or anything back. read more

Came here for Brazilian wax. It's understandable that the area may be sore/inflamed for a couple hours.. however this was not the case. I was sore/itchy for several days afterward, even just wearing pants. Initially there were red bumps, and white ones... My skin has since peeled in the area. I emailed and got a quick reply, which was helpful. I was told I had a reaction to the wax. They offered me my money back, so the customer service is good. This is my second visit to Karla, yes I do live in New Jersey; but I'm in Toronto at least 3 times a year. I had never had a full Brazilian wax before this. I'm now hooked. Karla is incredible. I had an awful experience a few years ago when I attempted to get a Brazilian (it was so painful I stopped the lady almost immediately) so I was very nervous. Karla was so sweet and pleasant that I was able to kind of calm down and let her get started. By the time she was done, I was completely comfortable and was talking with her like she's one of my girl friends. She is a supremely gifted waxer and a really sweet person. I could not recommend her more. Then you factor in how comfy and clean her salon is, and her prices... I would give Karla 10 stars if I could. If I ever move to Toronto, I'll be in BWR all the time. I never write reviews but I have to do this so that nobody goes through how I suffered today. I have been getting Brazilians monthly for over two years from a few different places and never have I been treated the way that I was here. It was my first time here and this was a soft wax service. She was seeing me during her lunch break (hygiene). After I waited for her as she enjoyed her lunch, she came into the room and her first words were 'it will not take more than 5 minutes' (second red flag). Then she ripped into me (literally). She went so fast, without giving me even seconds to breath after each pull. She pulled in huge patches. She didn't ask me if the wax was too hot. She didn't hold the skin correctly to prevent tearing or unwanted stretching. She reapplied hot wax in areas for a second and even a third time (BIG mistake for waxing anywhere on the body unless you use hard wax). On top of that, she consistently pulled up and away from the skin, rather than parallel to the skin (another MAJOR no no when waxing anywhere). I told her to go slower and to do smaller patches but she continued as she was. Afterwards, (as I cleaned huge amounts of wax off of that area and also my legs) I was bleeding in areas that I had never bled before. There is usually a small amount of blood where the hair comes out from the follicles which is normal, but this time there was more blood than I have ever seen. She left me with a small lesion, and five hours later the area is very painful, sore, and red. The bleeding is now under control. This woman hurt me badly and I am in so much pain currently because she was rushing so that she could finish her lunch. Poor service is one thing (making me wait for service) - I can let that fly. But hurting someone like this - especially the most sensitive area of a woman's body - that is far from ok. Frankly, I felt violated. She had no care for my wellbeing whatsoever. I don't understand how this place has so many good reviews. read more

Gave Karla a few chances thinking it would be better the next time. Very aggressive technique, rips the same piece of skin over and over again until it's red and raw instead of using tweezers. Lots of strays left each time. Unfortunate because she's very sweet and close to home. She was always fair with her pricing and I loved the tea tree oil/cream/hand sanitizer and privacy provided. After going here for six months, I finally bought a multi-pack to save some pennies because I felt really good about making that kind of commitment. I've been through so many waxing places in Toronto (I think about 6 in total). This is a keeper. I'm looking for cleanliness, how skilled is the esthetician (AKA how quickly can they get this over with and how much do I have to curse through my teeth), and ideally it would be great if it were below $40. Karla makes sure to do all of the above AND she is just so kind. No one looks forward to getting waxed, but with her it's over so quickly and it's probably the most painless I've ever had it be. I am on a quest to find new restaurants and services in Bloor west since moving here last winter. I tried beauty wax room based on the reviews & price, and I am happy I did. Service was fast, friendly and professional. In fact service was so fast, that there was very little time for awkwardness or for any pain to register. The only thing I felt was odd, was the hand sanitizer I was asked to use after my Brazilian. I would have preferred to wash my hands with soap and water. Waxing isn't fun, but the benefits outweigh the discomfort. If you're going to get waxed, you better go to someone who is quick and knows what they are doing. OK I went there for a Brazilian wax. Karla is AMAZING. She even put up with my very low pain threshold and she was comforting and reassuring the entire time. At some point I wanted to give up and she was like BOOM BOOM BOOM "you're done anyway!" and I love her for doing that. She is very quick and skilful. I will definitely go back for monthly maintenance - as opposed to pondering on the next one next year. My skin reacted the same way it does with sugaring, except sugaring is much more slower given the technique. With all this said, it's crazy affordable! Especially during happy hour. Will not be returning to this establishment. My first experience I arrived early for my appointment and I still had to wait 45 mins before I was seen. I went back thought I would give it another shot the esthetician I made an appointment wasn't there and I didn't find out until my arrival that she wasn't there when I could've been notified before in case I wanted to cancel my appointment also that day they didn't have change so I had to leave way more than I wanted too because the receptionist straight up said we don't have change. The last and final straw, I made an appointment and received the call the day of the appointment they will be closing early today. So I rescheduled with a different esthetician according to a availability calendar on their website only to be told she'll not be in so I have to reschedule. If I could give this horrible place -5 star review I would. So many things gone wrong at this spa. First of all, my friend highly recommended Karla to me because she was "apparently" extremely nice, professional and quick. Yeah she was quick alright, didn't care if the customer was hurting from her waxing because she just wanted to get the job done, despite the fact I told her it was painful. Second of all, I don't know where she got her skill from on waxing eyebrows because my brows have never looked so thin and disgusting. It's the worst shape I've ever gotten since I've been waxing my brows. She didn't even ask what shape I want or how I like it, she just went ahead and did it. Third, when I proceeded to pay for the taxes off of my Groupon, I told her I got the code from my friend because I bought it off of her, she didn't allow me to use it, pretty much implied that I "stole" it from someone. So I had to pay the full amount on top of that I already paid my friend the money for Groupon. The worst is not over, my skin is actually reacting from whatever wax she was using, because it's hurting right now. I don't know if it's her technique or the quality of the wax. I will never come back to this place. Now that my friend knows of her treatment of me she will also not go back. Perhaps she just wanted to close her shop right on time so she was rushing my whole appointment which included an upper lip wax, an eyebrow wax and Brazilian.
