The defendant declined to pay the fees presented immediately after trial so a hearing needed to be held. That first hearing got scheduled in June 2025. The day before this hearing my attorney advised me that the defendant's attorney had a medical emergency and needed to reschedule. I am a little suspect of the timing, but let's assume this delay was unavoidable. The second attempt for this hearing was scheduled for July 2025. The defendant's attorney did not show up for this hearing and apparently the cause was that Mr. Wentz did not file the correct paperwork. To his credit he told the judge it was his fault and he would get it corrected. The third attempt at this hearing finally occurred in August 2025. Let's not forget though that each delay adds cost to the client. Attorneys sending e-mails back and forth to each other can add up quickly at $250/hr. Even after the third attempt, Mr. Wentz had not calculated the attorney's cost correctly see my review on BBB.com. I feel I was pushed to try mediation($), appear before magistrate($) when it was in my best interest to request a final hearing. Laura requested and received an additinonal sum before representing me in a motion for relief hearing filed by opposing counsel, which she lost when challenged by opposing counsel, costing me $1400 monthly. I was appalled to discover she didn't have any of my financial information to contest opposing counsel and she still didn't have my new address on record. Veterans please stay away from this attorney she is not familiar with military retirement/benefits or VA disability. DON'T be fooled by her military friendly website. So after doing basically nothing for $10K she filed a motion to be released of her attorney client contract and she actually won that case.

The previous day, sitting in a hotel room with my mother, was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. Knowing the stress she was under made my reality a burden I never want to endure again.
