I was looking for a size 13 in dress shoes and asked if she could help me locate a pair. She responded by saying, "I mean I would have to scan every single shoe." Since I understood that finding the size might take some effort, I replied, "Awesome, I'll start bringing you shoes." From that point on, it felt as though my request was viewed as an inconvenience rather than a normal customer service interaction. Each time I approached her and her coworker with shoes to scan, their conversations would stop, their smiles would disappear, and their body language made me feel like I was interrupting or bothering them. As a customer, that made the experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I understand that checking inventory can be time-consuming, but helping customers locate the right size is a basic part of the shopping experience. I was surprised by the attitude, especially from someone in a supervisory role, where professionalism and customer service should set the example for the rest of the team.
