Michella's beauty is on top and my stirred-up heaven is on bottom! I finished it all. :) Kudos to Vapiano AMS!!

I've been to and reviewed quite a few Vapianos so I really don't have anything to include outside of what most know... Vapiano is a fast casual establishment offering the freshest ingredients and most flavorful combinations in modern Italian cuisine! It is one of my favorite dining options no matter where I am. I've had the pleasure of enjoying Vapiano in Dubai, DC, Chicago, NYC, and now Amsterdam. But in December 2015, I had my BEST. VAPIANO. EXPERIENCE. EVER. all thanks to Michella!! One note to other Vapiano fans, this is a giant location! I've never seen one so big or so busy! It was easily a 45 minute wait... but Michella made it 100% worth it! As my tip states, it would be a mistake not to jump in her line!!

Even though this is a fast-food chain (which in the food world is the worse of profanities) I actually really like Vapiano. The pasta is genuinely good, it's fast and cheap! But really, the food is nice and healthy, the ingredients are fresh and your dish is actually made on the spot for you. It's so nice to actually see the cooks prepare your food! The menu offers a good choice, with some traditional dishes and some more creative. They are options for vegetarians. I would definitely recommend the pasta over the pizza (not sure about the salads, but they do look nice). The interior is quite nice and modern/cosy. You get a card when you get in, you grab your food directly at the counter, showing your card, and then seat on one of the long wooden tables. You put everything you consume on your card and pay as you go out. Very efficient system! It's a nice place to grab a quick dinner with friends!

Full bellies and wallets? Winning day for a college student. When you first come in, they give you a card (Keep this or else you won't be able to leave). Then you go downstairs to order your food. They have counters each for pasta, pizzas, antipasti's and desserts. After ordering, they scan your card and give you a buzzer that tells you when your food is ready. After you're done eating, you go back upstairs, scan your card and pay on your way out. Brownie points for efficiency. The food is made to order. You can watch them make it behind the counter too. The portions are big, sharing sizes - split with your friends to try different things! We tried an open-faced calzone pizza, scampi pasta in creamy sauce and a pesto beef pasta. A little more flavor would be nice, but they provide potted plants of herbs (I looove basil) and spices on the tables. The chefs are nice about making adjustments to your dishes as well. Decor is modern and clean. It may be difficult to find open tables during busy hours. Can get loud, but it's still good for group get-togethers. I wish they had a place like this in the States.. Olive Garden is a total yawn.

Fresh and Cheap pasta's, pizza & antipasta's. A great place to have a simple dinner. Don't expect to much in terms of a restaurant experience but it's just perfect if you want to have a quick, good and cheap dinner. I tried the past Evista, a special, with chicken, red pepper and sundries tomatoes. Loved it!

Thou I heard this is a German franchise the food is what we all love of Italy, simple ingredients, quickly combined to make great food! Not expensive and varied, give it a try! Important! The kitchen closes at 11pm sharp!

Good food, got away cheaply with the pomodoro. I've paid double the price for worse food during my stay in Amsterdam.

I cannot emphasize this enough but the falafels had just the right amount of crunchiness and softness. Not over-fried hard crunchy at all. The toppings are fresh and crispy, too! And that's very important. This small place is located in the heart of Amsterdam, in an alley at the Nieuwendijk. The staff is friendly, too. Give it a shot. A sandwich/wrap is only €3.50 :)

It's just a five minute walk from the main train station, and 4 euros will get you a fantastic durum or donor kebab. I personally prefer durum kebabs (the long, wrap style Mediterranean sandwich) but at Semmy's you absolutely have to go for the donor version of everything which is served on a huge but light and airy crusty bun. It's shaped like a kaiser roll but has the texture of a nice French baguette. My personal favorite is the donor kebab with lamb, although the lady loves the donor falafel sandwich. The fries are solid as well, although they clearly have no idea how much ketchup Americans like to use. Overall, very American friendly and the guys there are quite sociable and take pride in their product. Don't expect fast food service times, because these guys take care to slice up fresh tomatoes and cucumbers for each sandwich, and even place the ingredients strategically in the bread to make it easier to eat. Not going to lie, we came here on our second day in Amsterdam and kept coming back for four straight days.

That's when I fell upon De Drie Graefjes and their cozy corner location. I sat down right away and was given a menu by a waitress that didn't really want to be there and/or really dislikes Americans lol.. maybe she was tired of tourists? ANYWAY, I ordered the smoked salmon sandwich on corn bread which came with a side salad and tortilla chips. It was nothing short of amazing. The portion was HUGE and this smoked salmon was the best I had on my trip (and I just so happened to eat a ton of smoked salmon since it's a very popular brekkie/brunch option here). The corn bread, baked in house, was to die for. I shouldn't have eaten that whole sandwich, but I did... and then I moved onto the salad. The dressing on here was super fruity (maybe blueberry? Not sure, but it was delicious). Unexpected flavors but totally genius. A different and much friendlier waitress brought me my check, and then I paid. When I left, the first unfriendly waitress almost chased me out the door for not paying the check (with her) until her colleague also confirmed I had already paid. Guilty until proven innocent at this place, apparently. So, all in all, 5 stars for the food and ambiance and negative stars for the waitress who treated me like a criminal, basically lol ***FYI, I met a TON of people in Amsterdam and almost everyone was friendly and chipper. Just not that first waitress. I may or may not be salty about this still.
