Do you enjoy freshly prepared Italian food but prefer to obtain it in the most annoying and inconvenient way possible? Then Vapiano is for you! Ambiance Cool mixture of modern and wood look inside. Fairly dim lighting but that made for a nice ambiance and made it feel a bit upscale. You collect a plastic card when you enter on the first floor and use it when you order food on the second floor. Then you turn in the card and pay on your way out back on the first floor. We were there on a weeknight around 6pm, and it was packed with lines everywhere (see below). Service If you are alone and only want one item (a pizza, pasta, or a salad) then their bizarre system won't bother you too much. You will very likely wait 20-35 minutes either entirely in line (pasta or salad) or combined line and waiting for the food to be ready (pizza). They had a few ATM like kiosks to order which seemed like a good idea, but none of them worked. So you get in a line. A long line. There were lines for pizza, lines for pasta, and lines for salad. Want a salad and pasta? Wait in two long lines... maybe eat your salad while you're in line for the pasta? The chef making the salads seemed to be trying to hurry, but the setup was not helping him. He ran out of ingredients and had to leave and go in the back for 10 minutes instead of having a radio or something to have a runner bring him ingredients. The pizza staff weren't very friendly, but they did seem to be hurrying. There were about three different stations for pasta (all with lines - I waited about 25 minutes) and one station each for pizza and salads/starters. The chef at my pasta station was cooking one dish at a time and didn't seem in a particular hurry. Interestingly when it was finally my turn to order the woman behind me piped up and shouted her order too and then suddenly he apparently decided he could cook two pastas simultaneously and did so (not sure if he continued for others in line). The heat radiating from the cooking stations made it hot to wait so long in line. Food We tried a bruschetta, Hawaii pizza, and spaghetti bolognese plus a tiramisu dessert and two sodas. All were decent but by no means amazing. Another reviewer wrote that the great appeal here is freshly prepared food. Well, that's true. But you can also go to a proper Italian restaurant, get freshly prepared food, and sit comfortably at your table chatting with loved ones instead of waiting in a cramped hot line trying to coordinate with your companions. You'll pay a bit more than at Vapiano, but you'll have better quality food and enjoy the experience far more. Mojo Decent food but the incredibly unpleasant process you go through to get it is entirely not worth it. Spend a bit more at one of Berlin's many Italian restaurants and have a far more pleasant experience.

Pollo Piccante, the biggest reason to come here!

Look, this isn't the place to come if you want really good or authentic Italian good. It is good, but it's not that. For my American friends, think like a much cooler version of Olive Garden. However, there is one dish that I come back probably twice a month for, the Apollo Piccante. It's a chicken pasta dish (I go with dinkel spaghetti), and it comes with an orange pepper sauce, kind of Asian flair to it. The sauce is the perfect balance between sweet and spicy, and tastes amazing. Throw in yellow and orange peppers, and pak choi, and it is a great little, kind of somewhat a tiny bit healthy (and certainly healthier than most things around here). This dish alone is worth coming for. And if you want to try and others don't, they can get a decent pizza or pasta and be okay.

Vapiano is awesome, still suffering from long wait to get what you want to eat ! But what is very nice on this one is the location, and thanks to its massive size with more than one floor you can always find nice spot to seat in.

The pizza was good but my expectations were higher. The pizza I ordered had a burnt crust. But it was only a little bit burnt so it's fine.

My girlfriend and I are huge pizza fans, live close-by and were looking forward to a great pizza. We'd arrived the week before to find them unexpectedly closed and had returned to try again. Bit of a rocky start. 5EU for a 400ml diet coke... when the non dietcoke is 4.50? The standard price is 3.50 to 4 in every other restaurant within a mile or so. But... whatever... we get it. Some restaurants make money from their drinks when the food is cheap. We can dig it. But then... a. Coke arrives. 3/4 full glass. 1/3 full of ice. Sorry, we'd like it cold no ice. b. New drink arrives. It's totally flat. Not a single bubble. Seems it's been poured from the 2l bottle at the back of the fridge. Sorry, can we have one with bubbles? c. New drink arrives. It's still flat, but now, with a tiny slice of orange. As if to say... here you go you precious little babies, we've made you something for your over the top schmancy tastes. But it's been poured from the same, flat bottle, likely bought for around a buck from the supermarket. Totally sucked. We were made to fill like shit just for asking that for a cold coke with some bubbles. For 5EU it seemed like a reasonable enough request and no we didn't need to be made to feel precious for asking for it. We stood. We left. Never to return. Sux, as we live 300m away, and were hoping to make it a regular. We aren't cheap. We walked 300m to another restaurant and dropped 80EU on dinner. But gee whiz. Being made to feel like dirt for asking for something to be brought up to just the bare minimum acceptable standard? We don't need that kind of shit. Just apologise, sort the drink out, we all have a bit of a laugh and move on. Instead? Lost a customer forever and got this well deserved, scathing review. Can't comment on the food. We walked out before it arrived.

It was great to be able to just walk in and be seated right away. Our waiter, Rosen, was extremely nice. My dad had some type of pizza -- I think it is known for the pizza but they have a full menu. I did not try it, but I can tell u it is thin crust & square shape, which I really like. My dad loved it. I got the vegetable lasagna with bechamel sauce. Very yummy and huge portion! I had half right there, the rest to-go and that was breakfast for two more days. I woke up craving it! The service was also very fast, but not because it tasted or looked pre-made. It's not fancy but certainly not like a food court. It would be perfectly fine for a casual weeknight date. I've been to a million Italian restaurants that are way fancier and absolutely more pricey, and this place is better than many of them.
