It has a very casual atmosphere and good eats vibe. The service was great. Our server was very friendly and had some good recommendations for us from wine to menu suggestions. The food was great and had awesome presentation that matched the taste! We had the vegan Caesar salad which was good and had a bit of a twist for me with added pomegranate and cranberry on the side of it. We also then split a primavera pizza which was really good but due to the toppings the bottom crust was a bit soggy which is to be expected. We then finished off with a vegan brownie which was delicious. All in all it was a great experience and meal. I definitely recommend the restaurant for the vegan looking for a taste of Italy in Stockholm.

Sort a shrug from the bartender at the Courtyard was the response. Then I mentioned Primo Ciao Ciao from the Yelp reviews. "It's a pizza and pasta place," he said. "Anything else Italian around that's good?" I asked. "Not really." This is the trouble when one is in a city one isn't acquainted with: where to get good food. One only has so many days in the place. One is bound to find some good ones and bad ones. Then came Yelp. Suddenly it was made easier? Really? So I set off on foot for Primo Ciao Ciao, maybe five blocks away. I noticed that few Swedes go against the red at street corners, even though auto traffic was nearly non-existant. They'd never get anywhere in NYC. I tried to follow their lead. I grew old waiting for the "walk" signal. I jaywalked. Dining alone this evening, I was looking for a place with a bar where I could eat and drink, perhaps talk with strangers. This wasn't it. The bar is more of an unused corner of the restaurant where customers can wait while their "take away" is being ginned up in the kitchen. It is not a bar where one goes to have a drink and a chat. I got a table near the entrance inside. The outside sidewalk seating was completely filled at half past eight in the evening. Inside was half full. "Is there a good house red?" I asked the prompt, efficient, friendly waiter. "Well, yes there is." He brought me a glass of the house red, Montepulciano, I think. Good enough. Having seen a favorable review from someone about the Isabel pizza, and being in the mood, I ordered. Before that arrived an unexpected "pizza salad" arrived, a bowl of a sort of cole slaw thing with vinegar and oil and perhaps a little salt and pepper. This must be a Swedish idea of cole slaw. I'm not sure it works. The pizza maker was fast, a pie in front of me in less than 10 minutes; with a thin crust--this is good, in my mind. It looked tasty, but something was amiss. Do Swedes not bring the pie already cut? Mine wasn't. But worse, the topping had nearly the consistency of stew. It was juicy. It made the crust soggy in no time. But maybe it is just the way things are done here. The tomato on the pizza was flavorless, like one might find in the grocery store that had been picked green and gassed to make it red. "Have you got a different red I might try?" He brought me three more to try. I settled on the third, though didn't finish it. The waiter had been right in bringing me the first one as the best one on hand. Persons very helpful here. Friendly. Probably won't return, but it wasn't the worse dining experience by any means. Upon entry, I was greeted by a very abrupt, Swedish waiter who began talking me to Swedish even when I shook my head, and tried to explain I don't understand - I really don't understand why he bothered me before I sat down when he knew I didn't speak Swedish, I understand there's a language barrier however I shown him my coupon and he even appeared to agree I didn't understand, yet still carried on. This branch of Vapiano is unusual in the sense, you order at a counter and pay with your card and then collect your food - you then take your card and pay as you leave as normal. I really dislike this concept because I like watching the people cook my food and the fact you have to go back and collect your food anyway - takes away the fact you can sit down and relax - table service with this method would make much more sense. I decided to order a panna cotta as I had been given a voucher for a free Dessert / Dolci by another store to try out at any location in Sweden which was the only reason I came into store while passing - I was sent from the counter to the bar which was confusing yet again (You order everything apart from alcohol and Dolci at the counter with no one even making the concept clear) Not only that - I found it really hard to get a menu as they were hidden away in a corner near the counter (Why wasn't I given one when I checked in as other stores do?) I hoped the issues I faced until actually getting my panna cotta would be over however they continued - the panna cotta was in a small pot so it didn't look as visually appealing and wasn't as easy to eat as it could have been - I'm not sure if it was the preparation or storage but the panna cotta was really runny and I got virtually no flavour - it was a bland mess. We complained to the management about the high-salt level in our entrée, and they simply blamed the fact on the paremsan cheese. To be fair, they exchange our first entree for something else. We ordered 3 different appetizers and the waiter brings out an extra one that we did not order. He said that it is on the house since he messed up so if we want we can try it out. So we did. Later on we realized he actually charged us for that order.... All of the food needed salt and seasoning to begin with, the only thing that was perfectly seasoned was the homemade butter for the bread. After about 2 hours, our food comes out and it is severely undercooked. We all chose the truffle macaroni plate. My friend who ordered gluten free food could barely chew her pasta and we requested a new order. The manager came up to us and said not to worry and that he would take care of it. Her second order came out softer but the food lost its flavor somehow and somewhere. Not once did the waiter care to come up to us to check on us but he kept checking on the bigger group a few times. I am not sure if us looking underdressed made us look less appealing to give good service to but it was something that wasn't right. We felt extremely singled out. None of us finished our food, we barely picked at it and the waiter rushed to pick our plates from the table, didn't even ask how we liked it or anything. When we entered, we were greeted by a polite waiter and were seated with English menus at a table RIGHT next to another couple, which was fine, but it was a tight table when I think of a typical American restaurant being farther away from other tables. The couple right next to us were German, so it was fun to hear how International this little Italian restaurant was in Stockholm. A tiny little old Italian lady was wandering around, occassionally calling to wait staff, but definitely speaking Italian to other family members who were the clear restaurant owners. My partner and I each had a peach bellini, and then we split a winter salad, which was a delight. My partner had the Arctic salmon (I'm pretty sure he had salmon), which he was able to starkly compare to Pacific Northwestern salmon, a prized position in our home region of the world. He said his Arctic salmon was the best salmon he'd ever had, it tasted so fresh and pure that he was baffled such great salmon was at an Italian restaurant in Stockholm. I had the spaghetti, and it was very filling and fresh. Honestly, it was such a pleasant experience and the food was so tasty that we didn't have any room for dessert, but I imagine it would've been just as divine. My partner and I, typical Americans, came into the restaurant and left the restaurant before approximately half the parties in the restaurant. I noticed the Swedes truly relax and lounge for meals, which was such a great atmosphere to be in. We were celebrating my birthday in Stockholm, and there was a Swede about my age at the table next to us that had a birthday song sang to him by the staff and his family, which was so very charming to see.
