It's been a while I came across Puro via Berlin's Veganz grocery chain but due to its opening hrs a visit was mission impossible. Puro extended opening hrs recently, but still no chance to have a lunch during weekends. Such a shame! Anyway, I got in at noon and took a seat by vacant window table. It was quite a luck as in 5 minutes later the place was crowded fully - Puro has just a couple of seats. But don't worry, they offer take away to satisfy everyone. ,] Meals: Daily menus attract with 4 dishes in both raw & vegan style. Soup / salad / main dishes / desert. I ordered Chickpeas Soup (vegan) and Buckwheat Salad (raw). Both tasted naturally, no spice takeover or so. Somehow I liked the salad more because of its refreshing and hearty concept. Also, the salad dressing made of cashew brought it one level higher (visual tour over my lunch on pics below). As a veggie on special diet (it's Lent time!) Only improvement would be for the waiter to explain the dishes a little better- when I asked if the goulash was a soup he said no, it's a goulash and looked at me confused (hoping that wasn't rudeness). After asking him if he could explain what's in the dish he seemed a bit shocked by my question, looked around and tried. They also have a a la carte menu, so I decided to get their vegan schnitzel with mashed potatoes and a honeycomb cake for dessert. The schnitzel plate was huge and definitely could be divided into two meals. The two fried vegan "schnitzel" patties that were nicely fried and crispy. The mashed potatoes were less creamier than I had hoped, with a tiny spoonful of gravy that was a bit saltier than I expected. I'm not sure if that's how gravy is made here, but that little amount was enough for the heaping amount of mashed potatoes. The side salad that came with the schnitzel was very wilted and came with no dressing, which was a bit surprising and disappointing, considering that it's a vegan establishment. I certainly recommend trying their cafeteria menu, as the food seemed to be much more fresh and some items (like their egg rolls) were delicious! The cake was also delicious, though I cannot make any comparison to the non-vegan traditional honey comb cake because I never had one before.

This place is run by Harre Krishnas and was very good value as they aim to feed anyone who wants to drop in. They don't force any literature onto you at all. The room is like a school canteen but clean and airy. We were confused at first as we thought you had to choose from the list on the menu, but it turns out that you get a bit of everything, all served up on one of those segmented trays that you get in institutions. There were two prices (both VERY cheap) the more expensive one you could keep going back for as much food as you liked, although we were stuffed full on just one serving. Even if you aren't vegetarian I would recommend this place just for the experience, and especially if you are running low on cash! The food was very good for the price and the people running it were as friendly as you would expect them to be. Vegetarians should also try Radost FX which is by far the best vegetarian restaurant I have ever been to!
