Had a spectacular time hanging out with them Christmas Eve to get looking good for Christmas celebrations in Porto. The light-hearted atmosphere the provide makes you feel at home and so joyful. Only downside is it's too far to get a haircut every month from home to Porto, Portugal. Looking forward to seeing you both in the future. I know Yelp is not super popular in Portugal but if you're a Yelp user and find yourself in the…read moretown of Mealhada (about halfway between Coimbra and Porto), come check out this very cool barber shop. Manel D'Oliviera is the name of the shop, but the owner/barber is actually named "Pama". He's created an old-school barbershop feel with modern touches like live music, a bar (not sure if it's a working bar or not, I have to ask next time). Haircuts are currently 8 euro each, which is a bit higher than the regular barbers in town. However, he's doing something right because they line up 8-10 deep here waiting for their cut. Straight razor, used for haircuts and shaves as well. I grew up in this town and am thrilled to see a small business that is doing well. I'm definitely coming for a cut on my next trip and you should too. As his flyer says, some barbers view their craft as an art and a way of life, and he's definitely one of them.
