Okay, I've come here quite a few times with my husband and always had 10/10 service. The store is a bit pricey compared to other places, but I'm always glad to support local businesses. However, today I came in to buy a Womanizer product. The sales rep was attentive, I picked out the one I wanted, and we went to the checkout. $238!! On the Womanizer website, it is $169, currently on sale for $139. I asked if they will price match the manufacturer, even just the normal price, and they said no. I don't think having it 2 days sooner was worth the up-charge of $100, and said I'd just buy it online. Then, the sales rep LIES TO MY FACE and rudely says that fees on the website are like $60 plus shipping, so I wouldn't be saving anything. Uh,, no?? In what world??? Shipping is free on the Womanizer site for their toys, and the only fee is tax, which worked out to be $12.30. 0/10, absolutely stupidly unprofessional behavior from the sales rep, it makes me not want to come back. I stopped by Velvet Box while on a business trip. It was close by the hotel and looked interesting. The Parking: Free parking, but very limited. The Service: Everyone here was extremely friendly, but you can definitely tell the must have a sales goal of some sort because they were keeping track of which customers were being helped by which associate. The Value: They had a LARGE SELECTION of everything! But I will say this might be one of the more expensive adult shops I've ever been to. When I returned back to Atlanta to my local adult store, I was able to buy an entire 8oz. bottle of lube for the same price Velvet Box was charging for a 2oz bottle of the same product. I'm not from there so I'm not sure if that's the going rate at adult stores in Texas but yeah it definitely felt steep. But tbh, that didn't stop the crowd. Went in with a friend yesterday. Associate Jeremy was really helpful. We purchased a 139.99 item. I asked for pink. On The front of the box the item did look pink. The next morning , I took the lid off the box and realized the item is purple. I was upset as this is an expensive item. I review the receipt. It says "No. refunds. Please call if you have questions about the exchange policy " I didn't want a refund , I wanted to exchange it for the right color. It is unopened. I call and ask for Jeremy specifically, as he would remember my purchase because it was literally several hours before. The manager answers and said "Jeremy's not in , can I take a message ?" I tell her I'm not happy with this color on the item I purchased last night. She says "I don't know why you asked for Jeremy , I'm the manager and our receipt says no refunds" I say yes , it says no refunds but it also says call about the exchange policy. She informs me that there is a no return policy as they are unsure what happens with the items once they leave the store. Ok I understand however , this box is still sealed and it's a $140 item and the associate gave me the wrong color by accident. The manager was rude , not helpful and now I'm stuck with $140 item and I hate the color. read more

I did a little window shopping yesterday all along W. 7th when I decided to sneak a peek in here. I figured why the hell not- you only live once! NYE 2016 was lingering and Valentines day is just around the corner, lets just have a little looksie! First off the lady who greeted me, Ms Dawn; her customer service skills were right on point. She introduced herself cheerfully and politely, but then kind of let me take it from there. Im sure they never know what kind of people they're getting (Ie: nervous, or shy, outgoing, or just going in for giggles). Anyway, I love that she let me browse, and just checked on me here and there with out being intrusive. If I had a question she answered super professionally and skimmed just the surface as to maintain a level of privacy. It made me way comfortable! The store it self has everything from upscale lingerie, novelty items and gag gifts, high dollar adult items and a large book selection. The thing that sets this store a part from others in it's likeness was it inclusivity, and taking the opportunity to "teach" about the human body! The first book I saw on display was "How to Talk to Your Kids About Sex". And the shop has a whole section devoted to Mama's and their post baby bodies. A clean and nicely organized store, attractive displays, and lots of toys with batteries to power up and try (in the palms of your hands) make the Velvet Box a great choice for you and your partner's adult needs. Lingerie here is over-frilly and Lacey for my taste, like an 80s Frederick's of Hollywood catalog. I like classier simpler stuff. The few books I leafed through were technique related how-to's with no pictures. We particularly enjoyed walking the toys section of the store because everything was charged and ready for action, helpful since these devices are priced from $50 up to $150 and higher. And, without violating Yelp's community content policies all I can really say here is *daaammmnnn* there are some inventive researchers out there working hard to dream up tickly, vibrating, rotating, wiggling, suction devices and em, let's just say it was fun to talk about them together. I kept saying "Huh. Well I've never thought of THAT before." There was one retail professional working the store, appropriate as it was very slow early Sunday afternoon [insert joke about the after-church crowd still being at lunch]. She was a bit over-helpful. Like, we are obviously in a sex store so sex talk is inevitable when discussing the products. But, idk she looked like Tina Fey and I didn't want to hear her use the word "clit" in a sentence for some reason, haha. Ok I'm uncomfortable typing this so I'll move on now. By far the best part about visiting these stores is the conversation my partner and I inevitably have about trying new things together. So, for that I give Velvet Box high marks because of the ease of navigating the store and availability of floor models of the toys to try out (on your hand, arm, etc.). I thought we was just going for this pillow type thing and ended up with a ramp. Inquiring minds, it raises you about 14 inches and kinda on an incline. When folded it becomes a seat! The Overton store was out, so they called this store and held on to it until we came to pick it up. I've only been here a few times.. mostly last month. Previously, back years ago we would go to Crystals. Velvet is a small store, but they do carry a lot. Negative stars if I could. Poor customer service. Staff lacks proper retail training and clear protocols/rules when encountering customer issues, since there was a huge hassle to get a store exchange. So tonight my husband wanted to surprise me with some lingerie and went here to pick some up. He bought a body stocking in a package with the suggestion of a sales lady. When he arrived and surprised me, the gift was well-received...until we opened it. The body stocking had a strange knot and we tried to figure it out by looking at the picture of the package and checking for instructions. There were none, so we consulted Google, of course. We found the body stocking had two negative reviews, still no instructions, and.. that the knot was random and strange. We immediately went back to the shop and explained to sales lady #1, Lindsey the issue. 1. The product is bad, low quality. 2. The product does not look like the picture 3. The product is not straight-forward and basically annoyed us...thus killing the mood. Our annoyance came from the bad product and I thought if we simply explained, that they would understand and walk us through the refund policy and help us get situated. Lindsey just went back and forth with us and hmm-hawed. Since we weren't getting anywhere, I asked her, what is the refund policy? She stated, no refunds and paused...awkwardly for a while, until sales lady #2, Hope arrived. Hope was the one who helped my husband. My husband explain everything to her and asked if they could figure out the product on a mannequin. She said she would not, instead, the two of them tried to figure it out and did a demo behind the counter (if two people are trying to figure it out, doesn't that speak volumes?) Hope told me, this is how it works. I looked and told her I still see the knot...now in a more awkward place...the front where the belly would be. She looked at me and stated nonplussed, yes, the knot is there since the product has a knot. I pointed at the picture, now upset with this lie, and stated, there is no knot in the picture of the product. She persisted that the picture does and the product does. A customer was nearby and looked at the body stocking and she stated that 1. it was cute and she would get it herself 2. the knot is kinda awkward btw the product is called: Twist Front Black Wide Net Bodystocking by be wicked. You can go see for yourself there is no knot in the picture! Everything is smooth-sitting on the body. Now instead of questioning the product, I'm questioning the integrity of the store, quality of its products, the people and the service. If the stocking was indeed meant that way and they persist in it being so... I ask, would these two ladies buy this body stocking personally? would they proudly display it in the store? Did they lie to perhaps avoid taking back the product or to cover, since they cannot figure it out either? - they defended a bad product, made a spectacle for others in the store, and then broke the trust of new customers. So now a customer had looked over...Hope finally said something about doing a store credit (a store card or exchange), which is what we wanted in the first place, and we went in search of something else, until the aforementioned customer came to us and offered to buy our gift card if we decide to get the gift card, since she's going to use it anyway. This customer was older, mature, and kind - she saw there was a problem and wanted to fix it right away. She reassured us that the product was bad as we walked up to the counter. The associates just stood there behind the counter, nodding their heads at her, and ignored us completely. These associates are just rude and a shopper in the store basically did their jobs (in just being nice and helpful). What I recommend is to shop on amazon (better customer service and better prices for many of the things at this shop) or go to an actual lingerie store. read more

Amazing selection and amazing staff, I'd be back in a heartbeat. Don't let the location scare you away--parking would typically be a pain around here because it's quite a busy area--but they have their own storefront parking so it's very easy access. Very female friendly, clean/classy, and this location is actually really convenient in my opinion! They have an enormous toy selection complete with tons of displays they encourage you to take advantage of (so to speak) and a very sizable lingerie selection as well. I failed to notice the bachelor/ette party selections but considering the impressive selection, I'd have faith enough to assume those needs would be more than met as well. And again, the people working here and really friendly and approachable. Late hours (til 11 during the week and 1am on weekends, 9pm on Sundays) are helpful, too! read more
