I went to see Dr. Ruggeri this morning because of chronic right knee pain and the certainty I had…read morethat I probably would need a knee replacement . Sure enough, x-rays that Dr. Ruggeri ordered confirmed that I was literally bone on bone for the knee, which he also stated verbatim to me. Throughout the visit I felt quite dismissed by him and very uncomfortable with the fact that he did not want to seem to listen to me. So he did give me a steroid injection for the knee I asked him for a short-term Supply of pain medication until we could see whether the steroid injection worked or not. He was adamant that he would not do this and when I tried to speak to him further about it my perception was that he was almost downright rude . I will not be returning to Western Pennsylvania Orthopedics. By the way I have already had three joint replacements and so I do have an idea of what's going on with my body .

I went to this doctor, filled out the pre-visit paperwork which stated I had an issue with my…read moreshoulder and elbow; nobody looked at the medical history in advance based on all their questions. This doctor only addressed 50% of the two issues - elbow and wouldn't address my shoulder at all. He couldn't have cared less and even smirked about it when I asked about my shoulder. $190 for the visit and 4-5 min spent w/him - max! He's a part of the problem with the medical field today and I thought it was always insurance companies to blame with 5 min a patient visit but when I asked about my shoulder, again, he just smirked at me. I'm sure he wanted me to setup another appointment despite the fact, again, he could have addressed my shoulder in the additional 2-5 minutes but the single visit $190 plus x-ray cost wasn't enough for him. It's really a breach of his medical oath to not even do a quick assessment of my shoulder. And the office won't tell you they'll only address one issue at a time until after you've checked in. If there was zero stars to rate him - that'd be it! My guess is when he started out as a doctor, freshly had taken his oath he was probably good, but he simply doesn't truly CARE about his patients anymore.

Dr. Christopher Donaldson is a doctor I would recommend to anybody. He has so much schooling,…read moremedical knowledge, and experience behind him. He evaluates you and knows exactly what is wrong or what the next step you need to take is. Surgery is not the first thing he recommends, but he gives you options that you have. I am an athlete and he knows the only thing I really want to do is get back on the tennis court and play. He tailors my treatment and options to the goals I want. It may be a long time till I get back to my playing, but he is helping me every step of the way. Out of all the doctors at western Pa Orthopedics and sports medicine, I highly recommend him.

Sadly, not because of the doctor, but because of his staff. The office staff changed the date of an appointment without notifying me. When I showed up at the scheduled appointment time, they informed me that the appointment was on another day & refused to let me see the doctor. When I produced the appointment card they had given me, which had my name as well as the date and time of the appointment, they tried to blame me, saying I must have called in to change the appointment. This was not the case. They refused to accept responsibility for the mistake, which was a very costly one for me, and chose to cock an attitude rather than apologize.
