I have tried quite a few sites since I bought my motor home, and this place went straight to the top. Outside and inside swimming pools, heated which surprised both my wife and I,lovely little pub downstairs that does good meal's pretty much all day, upstairs bar with entertainment, good gym, caravan's to rent, static and mobile, and cabin's with hotub's. For me,lighting in the evening was good, even has a light on top of the pitch hock up's points for those who arrive late, great shop, great shower block and toilets, spotlessly clean,( just wish that people who use them just put a mop around after you have used them), spacious pitch's,great view's of the country side, bus stop outside site to Dawlish, according to me there is nothing that anyone can moan about with this site, it's brilliant and will be returning again very soon

Now on our third year staying at this site for a week and pre-booked for next year too. Great service from the friendly staff in reception. It has its own pub "the Swan" which serves a selection of meals including a breakfast. There's a site shop and also a chippy. Just outside the pub there's a patio area leading onto an open air swimming pool, so mum and dad can keep an eye on the kids while enjoying a drink. There's also a family room upstairs, not ideal if your offsprings in a buggy! By car its around a five minute drive into either Dawlish or Dawlish Warren or there's a bus stop just outside the site. It has several fishing lakes for the keen angler and wooded walks for the naturalist, one of which takes you to Dawlish Warren, Its a steep climb back at one point so go easy on the clotted cream at the Warren.

The works closed in 1966, and the park was created and opened in 1972. The park, consisting of grassland, trees and hedgerows, covers some 42 acres. There are two main lakes: the larger, central one has an attractive hour-glass shape and its banks are lined with rushes. There are walks around this lake with park benches, and footpaths branch off to go to Highbridge (along the line of the old railway) and to Burnham's South Promenade, following the river bank of the River Brue (very muddy after wet weather!). There is a large car park off Marine Drive, which leads to a broad slipway into the lake. The other lake forms the park's north west boundary and lies partly within the Haven Holiday Village. Popular activities include BMX biking, model radio-controlled boating, jogging (there's a 'trim-trail' with various pieces of keep-fit apparatus) and fishing - the lakes are stocked with carp and bream. Dog obedience sessions also take place most Sunday mornings in good weather, and there's a children's play area and skate park. As well as the fish, wildlife includes birds, including geese, ducks, swans and various different types of sea bird, and the hedgerows contain a variety of different types of trees and bushes, home to insect and bird life. NB: The Highbridge Angling Association holds the fishing rights for the Apex Park. Permits can be obtained from Thyers Tackle Shop, 1A Church St, Highbridge - telephone 01278 786934.

A nice enough park located quite centrally in Taunton. A big enough space to relax for an hour or…read moreso. Here is some information about it. Vivary Park is close to Taunton town centre and covers 7.5 hectares of parkland. In medieval times the site was the fish farm or vivarium for the priory and castle. There are no visible remains of the lakes now, but this ancient use lives on in the park's name 'Vivary'. The public park came about because it's so close to the centre of the town. The land had been used as for public events since at least 1851 when the first Taunton Flower Show was held there. It was sold to the council in 1894 and a year later it was laid out. The front gates, bandstand and one shelter date from this time. In 1902 an oak tree was planted close to the bandstand to mark the coronation of Edward VII. With money left over from the celebrations, the fountain was commissioned as a memorial to the late Queen Victoria. It was unveiled in 1907. The park originally formed a part of the open setting to Wilton house. The park was extended to include part of the garden of Wilton House in 1924. Vivary Park is a good surviving example of a late Victorian public park. The park is well used and is maintained by our staff with great support and help from the Friends of Vivary Park. The volunteers do a great job in supporting the day to day work, special events and annual favourites. The park closes at dusk every day.
