You can see so many wild birds from one of the steamers or private boats that plough up & back to Dittisham (& Agatha Christies' house which overlooks the river) & on to Dartmouth. I have even seen seals & otters playing in the water near Dartmouth. You can catch a steamer at the appropriately named Steamer Quay in Bridgetown on the other side of the River from the Town Centre. This trip costs £14 return drinks onboard A Round Robin : Bus to Paignton from Totnes,then Train from Paignton to Kingswear then Ferry to Dartmouth & Steamer to Totnes is £21 but is money well spent. I have tried quite a few sites since I bought my motor home, and this place went straight to the top. Outside and inside swimming pools, heated which surprised both my wife and I,lovely little pub downstairs that does good meal's pretty much all day,upstairs bar with entertainment, good gym, caravan's to rent,static and mobile, and cabin's with hotub's. For me,lighting in the evening was good,even has a light on top of the pitch hock up's points for those who arrive late, great shop, great shower block and toilets, spotlessly clean,( just wish that people who use them just put a mop around after you have used them), spacious pitch's,great view's of the country side, bus stop outside site to Dawlish,according to me there is nothing that anyone can moan about with this site, it's brilliant and will be returning again very soon

Now on our third year staying at this site for a week and pre-booked for next year too. Great service from the friendly staff in reception. It has its own pub "the Swan" which serves a selection of meals including a breakfast. There's a site shop and also a chippy. Just outside the pub there's a patio area leading onto an open air swimming pool, so mum and dad can keep an eye on the kids while enjoying a drink. There's also a family room upstairs,not ideal if your offsprings in a buggy! By car its around a five minute drive into either Dawlish or Dawlish Warren or there's a bus stop just outside the site. It has several fishing lakes for the keen angler and wooded walks for the naturalist, one of which takes you to Dawlish Warren, Its a steep climb back at one point so go easy on the clotted cream at the Warren.

The fishery also has cottages to let, Pond cottage, which is the smallest and sleeps 2, (no pets), The Snug, which sleeps 3+ 1 (the plus 1 is apull out bed), dogs are welcome. The Old stable, which sleeps 4, this is fully accesible for disabled persons, it has a wet room for the bathroom, through to Clearbrook Cottage, a 3 bedroom, sleeps, , the standard of the accomodation is out of this world, we as a family have stayed here 4 times, and would be back tomorrow. There are chickens, ducks and a pot bellied pig that all have free range, and a further 3 pot bellied pigs who have 2 lovely field to roam in. I would recommend this for anyone.

There are 2 large lakes for fishing and the amount of wildlife that can be seen on the park is fantastic, from ducks, geese, rabbits, swans and various migrating birds throughout the autumn. The accommodation is good unless you go for the cheapest ones which are pretty basic, but you get what you pay for. There is entertainment on site every night, as well as a playground for the kids, a Londis shop and outdoor swimming pool. The entertainment provided is quite good and the bar has a good number of drinks. The londis stops a wide range of goods and is open all day everyday. There is also a Fish and Chip takeaway.

The site has a fish and chip shop, the chips are gorgeous, a laundrette, small outdoor pool, and a fishing lake. The bar is of a good size and is slightly away from the main entertainment area, so you could still pop in and have a drink whilst other family members are taking part in the entertainment. There is a Londis shop on site, which has a good selection of stock. The site itself is tranquil and has a wildlife area. Ideal as afamily holiday, couples, or silver surfers, everybody is welcomed here. For anyone who likes to get out and about Torquay and Exeter are both about 12 miles away, and within 30 minutes you can be up on Dartmoor/

The park itself offers you excellent facilites the best thing about the park for is all it has to offer,outdoor pool,cafe/takeaway,washing room,shop fishing,and amusements. There is a path just outside the park that will take you into the center of newquay and is a peaceful walk approx 1 mile. The site is also on the bus route costing about £3 for a family of return into the town. You will not beat it here with people booking 2 years in advance this site is top quality.

So, first the good news: Our room was probably the best I've ever stayed in. It was located in the huge, ultra modern house a hundred yards from the main lodge. We had room 7 with is the suite and the largest room in the house. The bedroom was huge, had a large balcony with table and chairs, and overlooked the lake. The bathroom was larger than most hotel rooms, super modern, huge walk in shower. There is also a large tub by a window, ans a large candle to light. The walk in closet was also huge. The one thing you will never complain about is space. Everything felt brand new, beautiful neutral colours, everything seemed to be top quality. Full breakfast, included, was excellent, including black pudding, white pudding, portobello, as well as the usual eggs any style, bacon, sausage. Also included is a breakfast bar with cereal, 4 juices, unlimited toast, pastries, yoghurt. They bring a pot of tea or cup of coffee, I'm sure you can get more of either. The staff were very friendly and professional. Location is 'central', a few miles from Bobmin to the north and St. Austell to the south, and on the way to all that Cornwall has to offer to the west. OK, here we go, the bad news: Are you a cup half full or cup half empty type person? Half full, you had better stop here. Half empty, you'll love this: Wi-fi next to useless, sometimes barely usable, other times not even found on the wi-fi list. Having said that, my g/f did quite well with wi-fi most of the time. So maybe it's some sort of configuration thing. Rebooting the router brought it back to life one of the nights, or so I hear ;) On top of that, on O2 I had no cell coverage, so was basically internet deprived for three days, seriously putting a dent in our travel planning. The first night the LOUD smoke detector went off and wouldn't stop. I called the main lobby number but it was past their normal hours. So I called the nighttime cell number and it went to voice mail! I got dressed, drove over to the lodge, there were 3 people at reception, one of them being the guy whose phone should have rung. I drove him to the house and he got it turned off. Highly annoying and a potentially dangerous. I was not offered anything for the hassle I was put through. POOP! There are cute geese on the grounds around the lake. They have pooped all over the grass, all over the gravel path, nobody seems to be interested in trying to clean it up a bit. On a related note the wood on our balcony was covered in poop and stains, no doubt never looked at since the house was built. It will only get worse. Cold shower! No wait, I mean boiling hot shower! Two of the three days it was barely lukewarm, on the day it was hot it was so hot that even turning it down to minimum hot was still too hot. This house looks like it's a year or two old a the most. Can they really not have got the plumbing and the wi-fi right? Breakfast was totally inconsistent. We had different sausages on each of the three days. The first two were yummy and seemed to be from a good butcher. The third day was like a Tesco discount package. Tea, the first day was in a cup, tasted awful, lukewarm. The two other days it came in a pot, piping hot, much better. Coffee was never good but was awful one day like it had sat for a week. One day one egg, the other days two eggs. Sometimes runny yolk, sometimes not so much. Location, although central, is in the middle of nowhere. No shops, no nothing. We didn't mind, but you might. There are many other smaller niggles but I'll skip those. So, would we stay there again? At full price absolutely not. But we got the travelzoo 3 nights for £165 which was a bargain. At that sort of price, and in room 7 of the house, then absolutely. One other room was also quite large, but we have no idea what the other rooms were like so you had better do some research. Read the other reviews, sounds like the lodge might be in need of repair, and sounds like wi-fi is an issue all over. Should you stay here? I honestly don't know.

There is also a family changing room where you and your other half and little ones can change together, but you need to get the key from reception to use this. Although pool is great, the food is dreadful, despite eating here a few times - each time the order has been wrong, mouldy, not cooked or just never shown up! So bring a sandwich or go somewhere else for food after your swim.
