Filthy boat, unpainted and splintery rails, captain(?) was sleazy, and unkempt., tiny space with large dog in the way. Cabin was so dirty you were afraid to touch the cushions, dirty silverware on table, uneaten food spread in the area, all day, not a bite, no food or water available for guests. Only area for "fishing" was in the middle of bloody mess from cutting bait, no clean-up. Just disgusting and very expensive for terrible experience. NOT truely a "Charter"..looks like a liveaboard trying for an excuse to deduct expenses. avoid at all costs and save the money. Note all good reviews are long ago...NOT what it is today!! read more

So this last week my husband had a conference in Seattle. We thought we'd give fishing a try in the area. By chance stumbled onto Skipper Randy while visiting the island. He was reasonable, professional so we booked!!! BEST EXPERIENCE EVER HAD FISHING!!! Our son had a blast catching flounder....and even caught a little mama shark. On the way out they thru out crab pods, and we picked them up on the way in....they cooked the crabs and our fish and we enjoyed every bit of it!!! I've fished Alaska, California, Idaho and Mexico....by far the best and funnest trip ever!!! We went out on Randy's charter last week with a group of nine that included my special needs son and my eighty six year old Mother. This was the best fishing crew we have ever been out with and our family does this every vacation. Randy was so nice and visited with our whole family the entire trip! Wayne the head deck man was the very best ever! He kept all are poles baited and our fish off the hooks and took such special car to help my Mom! Leaf the new deckhand was also helpful and sweet! We caught our limit on flounder and several crabs in our crab pots. Wayne cooked up fish and crab for us to eat during the ride back. It was so yummy! The boat is such a size to move around on and fish easily without being on top of each other. I cannot say enough about our experience with Captain Randy and First Mate Wayne aboard the Joker. Wayne was very accommodating and made sure the hooks were baited and the fish taken off quickly. The conditions weren't great for salmon but we caught some flounder and Wayne cleaned, filleted and bagged them up for us to take home. He even threw some crab pots over and cooked up some crab for everyone on the boat. It was my son's birthday and they made sure he had a wonderful experience! I have chartered the Joker with Randy twice in the past several years. The first was for a bachelorette party back in 2008 and then this last weekend we chartered it for a tour of Seattle by boat for our wedding party. We had 27 guests on board. We met at Shishole Bay Marina, went through the Locks and into Lake Washington, and then were dropped off in Ballard. Randy and his deckhand Wayne were great - they made everything painless. We were free to take in the views, enjoy food and beverages, etc. It was a very affordable way to get everyone on a boat to enjoy Seattle by water. He even let us stop the boat to go swimming in Lake Washington, which many charters will not let you do. I highly recommend Randy & Venture Charters for your boating adventures. read more

My bother and I were looking for a boat to take out to get some fishing in. My brother found The Joker from Venture Charters out of Bremerton & I found another company. My choice was $90 more per person. We decided to go with The Venture and so glad we did!! The boat was large, 9 people went out on our trip including 2 decks hands & skipper. The boat had plenty of room and we weren't on top of each other. The skipper took us 2 hrs out before we started fishing. We caught flounder the whole day & 2 sharks. I can't say enough about his deckhand Wayne. He was so attentive and helpful to his group (which our group was in). Wayne kept busy baiting our line, taking a fish off, fixing a pole, baiting another line, taking the fish off and baiting again, cooking us lunch from fish we caught, cleaning everyone's fish and filleting for us to take home!! Whatever Wayne was doing, he didn't rush you, get short for telling you for the 4th time how to reel your pole. He talked to you, helped you and treated you like you were the only one fishing on the boat!!! Skipper and Wayne seemed to work well together. One couple was their fourth trip using The Joker, another was his 2nd time. I talked to another gentleman and told him I would definitely use The Joker again next year and he said the same thing. This was a very nice weekend get-away for us. The apartment was clean and well put together. Though there were only two of us, it could have easily slept 6. Having the deck right on the water was very nice. Randy and Frank were great and very accommodating. Port Orchard was a nice hamlet and we found a couple of great deals in the MANY antique shops. My one issue was not so much with the place, but that if you're more than 6' tall or so (like me), You'll want to be careful of the low ceilings! read more
