This is my first time coming to Venture but I've heard great things about it from so many different people. Always wanted to come but I already have a church and never had extra time. Met a stranger (Josh THAT guy) at a coffee shop (Visible Coffee; 10/10 recommend). I brought a family that doesn't have a home church with me (also strangers). ALL of us felt welcomed and seen. A friend introduced my wife and I to the pastor after the service and the look he gave us when she said "and this is her wife", gave me all I need to know about this church. I went for the 1st time for their Easter service. A very warm and welcoming church. Get your coffee or tea before service. My favorite part of any service is the music! They have an incredible stage set up with lighting, sound and video system. The songs and worship throughout are uplifting, engaging with incredible musicians and talented worship singers. The Pastor gave a thought provoking sermon taking us through the last days of Jesus, the brutality of crucification and the miracle and promise of his resurrection. I really enjoyed the service and entire atmosphere of the church. Will go again! read more

I love the Through The Bible class- this is my first time reading the Bible and the teachers (especially Joshua T.) is extremely smart and I love how he presents the contents. I have attended Venture Church for quite some time. The community I've experienced every week (on Sunday mornings, in small groups, and at events) is very welcoming and genuine and FUN. Venture is a "come as you are" church where everyone is accepted wherever they are at in their journey of faith. The worship is powerful and authentic, I love the song selections. The messages are relatable and engaging and biblical-- I love it when they do message series' through books of the Bible--and I always leave with an actionable next step to go deeper in my faith. My daughter (who is 3) LOVES our kids ministry and Pastor Kaeli and the teachers. She comes home with fun crafts that they have made in Kids Church and can (normally) communicate a Bible story or truth she has learned from that Sunday. I also find her singing the songs days later. This church is all flash and no substance. I attended three times and attempted to get plugged into a small group and volunteer to help in any capacity. I was relegated to a staff pastor who offered to meet with me, then he changed the appointment twice and was a no-show after all that. I can't figure out if he's simply inept or insecure. Regardless, the sermons are superficial and the worship follows a Hollywood pop performance style, more entertainment than engagement. read more

Gosh where do I start with all that Venture has done for me and my family and continues to do for us. One of the biggest things is that they helped bring my daughter back to God. My daughter had a not so good experience before with another church so she was very wary to attend another one. They loved on my daughter so much and where so patient and kind, they never pushed her or gave up. My daughter now attends church with me, helps out with volunteering and even got baptized!!! I also can't thank them enough when I had my surgery back in November to remove a tumor in my head, how they organized a meal train to help my family out with dinners!!! My wife and I moved to Kirkland and spent a couple months looking for a place to call our church. There are many incredible christian faith communities, but we wanted to find a family with small groups connection, hospitality, a place to get involved, diverse people, a place for our kids to grow with friends, music we could engage with and pastoral leadership we could grow from. After lots of visits, we found Venture Church in the summer when it was still at a high school and still call Canyon Creek. We are excited to be a part of the church and to serve with others. I've been attending Canyon Creek since 2005. Coming here was one of the best decisions I've made. The lead pastors, Brandon and Di, truly have hearts to love people, lead them to Jesus, and help them grow in their faith. They've surrounded themselves with a staff of high-quality people who work hard to make the vision for the church happen. The church prioritizes getting involved in the local community at each of its campuses and challenges the congregation to be involved in the different events. It also encourages people to extend Christ's love to their neighbors, co-workers, family, and anyone else in their sphere of influence. Church services are great! The staff and volunteers are very friendly. The music is energetic and spirit-filled. The speakers are engaging and excellent communicators. The sermons are scripturally-based and presented in a way to relate to the congregation. The church grows each year in it's giving, attendance and spiritual vitality. People are accepted for who they are (even with their flaws) and shown grace and love. It's great to be part of such a strong community of faith. read more

Starting with the con so it gets read: I wouldn't leave my kids in the childcare again and I wouldn't recommend anyone else do either. My husband and I take turns checking on our kids every 10-15 minutes just to make sure everything is going right. The first time we did, I don't see my 4 year old son in the room I left him in. Turns out, the director moved him to another childcare room without informing either of us which is incredibly frightening to experience, even for a brief moment. The woman at the check in said it was fine for him to go with our oldest since he is (homeschooled, started early) in kindergarten. Unfortunately, once he was in that room, they decided he needed to be with the younger kids. Completely understand, but communication is key, especially regarding someone's children. The next time we brought them to the church daycare, he was 5 and with the big kid class. Again, for some reason, he was brought to the younger kids class, WITHOUT INFORMING MY HUSBAND OR MYSELF, so that was another heart wrenching moment. They had this time apparently tried to call me, but as I was in church, the music was loud, and I had my phone in my purse. Other churches have #'s or names that light up on the screen to prevent this sort of issue. Not entirely their fault, but they definitely could have came to gotten me had it been an emergency. Apparently my son had been bored and asked to go to the younger class. That same day, my daughter tells me she was hit by another kid in her class and had a mark. I turn the car around and go to talk to them. I approach the woman who was working in my daughters class and the director (Kaeli) who were both there. I explained that my daughter was hit, had a mark, and no one had told me. The woman who was in the class told me she saw, the girl who hit my daughter was spoken to, and my daughter said she was ok. Totally get it, but again-COMMUNICATION!!! I want to be told when I spend the 5 minutes picking my kids up, not by my daughter on the way home. *Then the part that actually pissed me off-Kaeli turns to my 6 year old daughter and bends down and tells her that she needs to tell Kaeli when something like this happens. I see the look of guilt spread across my daughter's face for the briefest of moments before I immediately correct the grown woman and let her know that the other woman who is in charge of watching the children needs to tell ME when something like this happens. It is most certainly not a 6 year olds job to communicate things like this to adults she doesn't know. I've worked in daycares for 6 years before I ever had kids. When a child is injured, even when it's nothing serious, you immediately file an incident report and inform the parents at pick up. I asked Kaeli if they had similar procedures. She responded that they didn't, they were a church, not a daycare. The fact that I cannot trust my childrens safety or whereabouts during church service is my worst fear in attending a church. This day was the last day I left my children in their care. Kaeli trying to immediately redirect blame to my 6 year old daughter was the most cowardly and unprofessional thing I have yet to experience in my parenting experience. They obviously have communication issues as well as a lack of knowledge in child development. So if you you go, just have your kids sit with you. It's good practice in being patient and quiet & at least you won't worry about WHO is taking them WHERE. Another con is the church starts to get a little redundant after awhile on the fundraising/tithes, I'd heard that from a few other people too. I totally get they need donations, but if people are going to give, let them give from the heart. Don't ram it down their throats. Pros: The church has great music, nice people, and fun groups. The app is fun to see all the different events in the church community. Brandon, the lead pastor was very lively and always had great sermons! They had other pastors that would take turns too, some more passionate than others. Overall, it's a good church, but have your kids sit with you. read more

My husband said he probably would never have accepted Christ into his life if it wasn't for this church, its people and how they love, and for Pastors who aren't afraid to take chances and talk on the hard, bold topics that everyone needs to hear and have spoken over their lives. read more

It's hard to review a church because churches are filled with all kinds of people and that makes them imperfect. I've visited dozens of churches as visitor or regular and let me tell you there are few who deserve a 5-star rating. Basically I look for 4 things: authenticity, great (secure) kids ministry, good worship/music, and thoughtful teaching. Most churches get at least one or two of those right. The exceptional church does 3 well. But it's the rarity--the outlier--who fire on all cylinders in each of these four areas. Canyon Creek is one of those great places where you can enjoy a challenging message, knowing that your kids are having a blast in a safe environment, and most of all the staff and people all around genuinely care about you. And no, I don't work there! In fact, when I first began attending Canyon Creek I was overwhelmed by the friendliness... it's very countercultural in a genuine, un-contrived way. It seems like all the little details matter to Canyon Creek. You can tell they've thought out everything--from how to make visitors feel welcome to the cleanliness of the facility. Signs are clearly marked. There is a nice cafe with great views, and if you stand around alone for 10 seconds someone is likely to come up and start talking to you. It's clearly the culture of the church for many years, it seems built-in. The teaching is solidly biblical. You won't get shouted at but you will sometimes feel challenged to live a larger, more fulfilled life. The teaching team led by Pastor Brandon are top-notch communicators who can translate the very deep meaning of Scripture into rich, meaningful, and practical messages. If you've been hurt by church before, this might be a great church to try. I've known lots of people who feel like they've been healed of past hurts by being a part of this community. read more

I have been coming to Canyon Creek Church for around 4 years now. Let me tell you that when I first started coming I was shocked that I could even step foot in the doorway, my brother even joked that he was surprised that I didn't catch fire! All church had ever been in the past to me (recovering catholic) was rituals and Christmas mass. However at Canyon Creek that first day I felt a difference, I didn't feel the need to be dressed to the nines(felt kinda silly in my dress n heels) didn't feel "Judged" I just felt welcomed by smiles and a hug from Di Beals saying welcome. That day pretty much changed the course of my life for the better my friends say my life has done a Complete 360 from where I was then to where I am now! I would have to agree when I accepted Jesus into my life it has become abundantly better. Thank you Canyon Creek Church for being a wonderful welcoming safe place I call Home! read more

I had attended a different group at this location in Mill Creek off and on for a couple of years. I had loved it due to the openness to newcomers, the relaxed atmosphere and challenging messages. I was surprised when I came after not being there for awhile and found it was now Canyon Creek. I felt very welcomed, not pressured as some churches will do and loved that the atmosphere was basically the same except that a much larger congregation ( 2 services). As someone else stated no church is perfect and so if I could do 4.5 I would. I love the fact that multiple people are there to welcome and guide newcomers, there are people who are available to pray with you if you have a need while worship service is going. Worship is very engaging and for some may be an adjustment. I personally love it as we all worship in different ways. There is a focus for what is being covered for several weeks and often it is challenging to build your faith to become more like Jesus. Small groups are offered and the first one I attended was great. I got to know some more women in the church and we have continued to check on each other. If you are coming to check it out I encourage you to come for several weeks before you hop to somewhere else to really experience the Heart of this church especially about helping those in need and their community. read more

They get children's ministry right! On our first time visiting our little girl (2yrs old) didn't hesitate to go play and when we picked her up she was as happy as can be. They take the care and safety of your child seriously.
