The team at Venture Management is wonderful! Very responsive to my inquiries and professional in every interaction. Highly recommend.

Do not touch this place with a ten foot pole and save your money. the management stinks and they will find every way to steal your money. I had to cut my lease early and Venture does not allow you to break your lease. they make you pay a fine of 120$ and then make you responsible for the rent until some one else moves in. They will tell you that they will make every effort to find someone to take over your rent but they are quite deceiving. I sent out some ads on craiglist and university classifieds and people emailed me about the available apartment. I turned my possible lease replacement to venture and venture told them that there are no rooms available. It got a lil fishy when i was still being charged money after people were still asking me about the apartment. So i called venture and ask them if anyone have taken over my lease. they told me "no, no one have... and the room is still available... and they are still ACTIVELY looking for an replacement" I then recalled them to act like a prospective tenent... i asked them about the exact apartment and they told me it was unavailable and that someone is still living there. I got angry and told them i was the same guy who actually left that apartment. I got angry and some things were said I warn them i will sue them if i paid for another months rent... A day after i fought with them over the phone, some one took over my rent. These people are criminals and i would not recommend them! There is also several more stories i would like to add about venture but do not have the time to thoroughly explain them but here is a small list. -made me pay for a lamp that fell on me while i was sleeping -made me pay for carpet cleaning which i have already paid for -never set up my internet so i had to use the password from the previous owner. -the women who work at the office are never helpful - the communal washer and dryers are always stinky and are sometimes broken. i remember once the dryer didnt work and all my clothes were soaking wet. so i had to pay the washer and dryer twice. -Many many many more complaints Do not do business with venture. I recommend 3000 grand or live anywhere but not a place managed by venture. read more

Mulberry Pointe, Bondurant, what a great place to live. Well maintained and up kept. Very quiet and lots of friendly people. People that come to live at mulberry points stay for quite sometime it seemed. Maintenance Dan can be on the spot and trusted in your home unsupervised, not to mention he Is on the spot one phone call away. Jackie, can make the process for you to become a new tenant a breeze, as well as mind you not she is always watching, looking out for your best interest at all times. So friendly and eager to help you in any way. I recommend mulberry pointe apartments in Bondurant, the absolute best hands down apartment complex I've lived at to date. I really cannot say how Venture Management handles their business now, but I can say when I rented from them in 1999 they were the shadiest management company in the metro. My first husband and I rented a ran down two bedroom apartment in a converted old turn of the century house on 9th Street just off Forest Ave in Des Moines that was managed by them. I will say I should have said OH HECK NO and ran when a roach fell into the lady showing me the apartments hair but I was young, homless with two young babies and needed a place now and the place was at a price I could afford with all utilities paid. Yadda, yadda, yadda. I ended up moving in the place was infested with roaches of course and it turns out bats.... WOW!!! I called constantly to be sprayed, bombed myself and still everytime they would come to inspect they would write on their inspection sheets that they were finding "organic matter" in my apartment. I called to ask the office what they were talking about and the receptionist gave me to the office attorney. You heard me correctly. It turns out that Venture Management was at that time according to Home Inc the only management company with their own attorney on staff. The organic material they were referring to were the dead little roach bodies from my efforts to bomb and kill them. To make a long story short, as soon as I could afford to I moved they screwed me out of a ton of money because according to them the entire buildings infestation problem was my fault and now I had to pay about 2000.00 to have the building fumigated. My parents had been murdered and I had to use my inheritance money to pay them. They knew that. I say run like the wind, I have never rented from them since and have never referred anyone else to them. read more

The Brady is in Sherman HIll and is a great building. It is old - maybe the 1920's. But they've updated the important stuff like the kitchens and bathrooms. Then they left the cool stuff like the huge wood doors and wood trim. And the window seats. I've only had to have maintenance once but I emailed on a Saturday morning and it was fixed that afternoon. He even took off his shoes before coming in. Parking can be tough on 16th, so I recommend renting a garage! read more

Mulberry Pointe is a great place to live. The area is quite & we have never had any issues with anyone in or around the area. The only issue we have is the neighbors upstairs (who ever lives there at the time) sounds like elephants walking around due to no insulation between floors. We have lived here 5 yrs. read more

I have lived in three different apartments managed by Venture they have proven to me to be great landlords. They've always been really quick to take care of any problems or fix things. I had a period of time where I was having trouble paying my rent and they were really nice about working with me to get caught up. My places were always clean and neat, including halls and outside, and there is no smoking so the halls dont stink!! ( I have myself and friends who live other places and sometimes their halls are full of trash, or things break and no one will fix anything or it takes months to get done.) I can't imagine living any where else unless I buy a house!! :) read more

Valley Acres 1 bedroom: Fair price for a good location, nicely sized unit, and usually quiet neighborhood. Snow removal on the street can be slow, but maintenance is incredibly quick to respond. I made an online request while at work on my lunch break and it was fixed before I got home that afternoon. The walkway on the upper floors makes it VERY tricky to move larger objects in due to the angled roof. In almost a year, I have only had to make one maintenance request, and have only seen the police once. read more

It is nice to find a landlord who takes care of their properties. These places aren't the lap of luxury, but they do keep them clean and updated which is much more important. Maintenance is fast and they clean up after themselves. There is an application and they screen the people, so that neighbors are nice and quiet for the most part. Rent is easy because you can set it up to be paid online every month. Overall, I don't think I'd risk renting from anyone else in Des Moines. read more

If you rent from Venture Management do not expect to get your deposit back. They seem to be one of those rental companies that will find ways to keep as much as possible. My daughter and I both cleaned her apt. very thoroughly and took many photos to document how clean it was. We had the carpet professionally cleaned as well. When she received her deposit check back she found that the company deducted from the deposit for 4 hours of cleaning. When asked what they found to clean, the manager replied that it was under the stove and refrigerator, window air conditioning vent and bathroom vent, and baseboards (although she and the carpet people had already cleaned around the baseboards). Someone is a very slow cleaner. Plus the previous manager had allowed her to move in without it being cleaned if my daughter would agree to clean it, since she need a place right away. Not surprisingly now they are saying that this would "never happen". It was also a dingy, poorly lit place. I'm glad she is no longer there. She was a good tenant and always paid her rent on time and usually early. read more
