When my friend and I were walking along the fairway to retrieve our balls on the third hole, that older guy drives up to us again and exclaims, " You must be learning how to play golf. We need to be faster and move along." When my friend told him that we had been waiting for the groups in front of us to play their hole, he just waved us off and continued driving his small truck. As we checked in to play the second half of the course, they added two strangers to our group. The strangers were nice and all, but we didn't understand why we couldn't have just played with the original three people that we came with that we knew were clean and Covid free. The group of three in front of us, that we knew, also would have a random a person join their group once for the first half and then again for the second half. The course itself was fine for a nine hole course, but the way that man treated paying customers is really what made me come on here to write this review. Every small detail was perfect. All of the flowers were fresh from Wendy's garden and the arrangements were PERFECT. The signage and table settings were gorgeous and involved freshly stripped bark with calligraphied names of all of our guests. There were blankets on the back of all of the chairs for when it got chillier at night! Seriously, Wendy thought of everything. And last, but certainly not least, Wendy! You couldn't ask for a better planner, friend, and kind soul. She has been a wedding planner for decades and now she and her husband run the Phineas Wright House. I didn't stress once on the day of the wedding because I knew Wendy had it all under control. From the moment my husband and I started planning the wedding, she was alongside us supporting and cheering us on. I would often say "I'm so grateful for Wendy!" We had started our wedding planning with Wendy when we were going to have a 100 person wedding elsewhere, and by the end we had a 12 person, socially distanced wedding at her home, and honestly it was absolutely perfect. It was important to us to have a vegetarian wedding that was delicious and vegetable-focused (and not just boring pastas or tofu steaks). We also knew that lots of our guests were meat-eaters and we wanted to make sure everyone walked away excited about the food. Well, Saltbox completely pulled it off. They worked patiently with us at every step. We gave them the adjective "Ottolenghi-esque" at the beginning and a few other notes about our taste, and they ran with it from there, delivering a draft menu that was amazing and then revising it according to our feedback. Throughout, they were easy to work with and extremely professional, and they pulled off of the details on the day beautifully, with everyone leaving happily stuffed and thrilled. (They even accommodated our gluten-free and dairy-free guests with delicious alternatives.) The waitstaff was also fantastic and helped ensure that my husband and I got enough to eat amidst all the busy-ness and dancing.
