Dr. Ver Helst has been treating me for over 20 years. I sustained a permanent injury from a car accident when I was 19. I STARTED with a different chiropractor and I could tell that he was only having me come in to get as much money from me as he could, with absolutely NO RELIEF. Dr Ver Helst will not do that. I was very skeptical about Chiropractic care before starting work at a Chiro office. I didn't take as long as I thought it would have to get my first adjustment. I have a 7 month old so I was still having some hip and back pain from having him.It got to the point where it hurt so bad some days during my maternity leave it would be hard to walk around. After I started I eased into it by first watching my coworker get adjusted to kind of get a feel for what the process was. From there I got an x-ray. I looked at my x-ray thinking i'm 25 I should have a nice fairly straight spine...nope. I have a curve in my lower spine which is what is the cause of my back pain. I have now been getting adjusted frequently and feel so much better! I started running(i'm no runner btw) I truly went from being in pain to feeling 80% better. We are working on getting me to 100% but it doesn't happen overnight. Health is something that takes time to achieve. read more

I am a firm believer in Chiropractic and do tend to lean towards a more natural holistic and non-invasive medical approach. I am a sufferer of Chronic migraines and coupled with low back pains resulting from years of running for sport and during my time in the Army. I have knee issues, which of course works its way up and effects my hips and lower back. Dr. Kurt VH carefully assessed my current needs and began a treatment plan for both issues. I have always had problems in my mid back, and I work out with heavy lifting as well. Every time I go in, Kurt spends time with me to better understand and only adjusts the exact areas that need work. He is very informative about what he is doing and why. My son who has autism and bipolar disorder also goes in for cranial adjustments. Kurt has a passion for helping people and wants only the best for his patients. I have been to a number of Chiropractiors around central iowa but Ver Helst has to be one of the best. He focuses on rapidly fixing the problem. his normal sessions are very quick as he boils down your problem in a through exam then gets it fixed and gets you feeling better.
