My recommendation for Dr. Amanda Carver D.C. and Iowa Family Chiropractic (Ames, IA location) is long overdue. I will do my best to keep it brief. The services provided at Iowa Family Chiropractic - Ames, and I am embarrassed to admit this, exceeded my expectation ten-fold. Dr. Amanda Carver, D.C. (Dr. Amanda) is a remarkable doctor. This is a brief list of her multiple qualities: Exceptional emotional intelligence, professional, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, compassionate, and reassuring. Assisting Dr. Amanda, at Iowa Family Chiropractic - Ames, is a highly resolute, personable, knowledgeable, and professional support staff. Included within the support staff is a certified NASM (Nation Academy of Sports Medicine) member and an Event Coordinating Specialist. The entire staff works as a team and are very patient focused. Service wait time is usually 5 seconds - 5 minutes. Stop the press! Dr. Hannah D.C. has joined The Iowa Family Chiropractic - Ames team. Beyond the initial consultation and treatment for my back pain, I learned that there are chiropractic solutions for other ailments normally treated/addressed by traditional medical methods. A case in point is my severe trigger finger. In the past I received steroid injections to treat the pain and locking. Near the end of a chiropractic session with Dr. Amanda, I mentioned that I was preparing to make an appointment for another injection in my left hand for trigger finger. So, while pondering (I am not sure what), I noticed and assumed (minutes later) that Dr. Amanda was merely inspecting my left hand - checking the palm area, wrist, fingers, then the back of the hand. Whatever she did in the 5 to 25 seconds of checking out my hand - Eureka! Trigger finger pain/locking/stiffness disappeared. There have been multiple issues where Dr. Amanda has used chiropractic methods to address, relieve, and/or eliminate health matters with non-invasive methods. This is a brief list: wrists pain, trigger finger, recurring neck pain, shoulders (ouch!) pain, hamstring injuries/pain, elbow pain, knee pain, et cetera. I am sure chiropractic medicine is not the panacea of every health care concern. I've Been going to see Dr. Amanda Carver at IFC Ames for over a year now. At the beginning of my health journey I was in a desperate place, riddled with pain. A few months later I was feeling SO much better, when to my surprise we found ourselves pregnant! I truly believe it wouldn't have been possible for me to get pregnant without getting my body healthier. Dr. Amanda helped me keep my body in good enough shape during my pregnancy that I could continue working my physically demanding job. Normally by 20 weeks I'm almost bed ridden, but I was able to work till 36 weeks thanks to excellent patient-tailored chiropractic care. The care at IFC is specific to the individual, their body and their issues. There are now five of us in my family and all five of us are adjusted a little differently. Our new baby has been adjusted since birth and makes a huge difference in his life; he's noticeably less fussy, more content and comfortable after an adjustment. Dr. Amanda is awesome and patient. You don't have to wait to get seen and the hours are flexible and they have early and later hours. Her staff are responsive and professional. I'm very impressed. I had a chiropractor in Ohio ruin me for years and I was too scared to return but I gave her a chance and I am better for it. The best part of the whole experience is that you don't feel like a patient. It feels routine and natural. I like that my pain and healing is important and I don't have to shove pain pills in my mouth or neglect my wellness because a doctor wants to treat a symptom and not the root problem. You get scans done of your spine every few weeks to show progress and problem areas. And for me, this is most important as my job security relies on my health staying top notch. Dr. Amanda can locate the pain before I can even tell her because I have lived with it for 15 years and ignore it. I am more flexible and aware of my body than ever! read more

Came in with some lower and mid back pain. After some X-rays and a consult with Dr. Amanda we came up with a plan of attack to get me feeling better. A few adjustments and life is back to great. I didn't even realize that the regular neck pain and shoulder tension I've experienced for several years was even treatable, but after a round of corrective chiropractic treatments with Dr. Amanda, the issues are almost entirely gone.
