Having to hire a slate roofer in the Allentown area (rather than relying on our old one in another…read morearea) turned out to be a re-education about the difficulty of finding a reputable and responsive roofer. In all, I made five phone calls to try to line up estimates on having slates replaced. Two never bothered to return the call. One called back 3-4 days later. Another called back 2 days later. (That guy, the Coplay, not Bensalem Romano, said he "doesn't do" estimates on slate replacements.) Just one called back that very day, and boy, did we luck out - J & M Roofing. We already knew the rough going price of slate replacement and J & M was right in the pocket. The boss, Greg, was a charming and down to earth guy and his son (he has two in the business with him) made a point of stopping by swiftly and taking pictures that were emailed to us to show exactly what needed replacing. Greg has been in the business a long time and knows how to ration his time. Quicker jobs like ours get reserved for days of iffy weather and weekends, and indeed, the following weekend he and one son and one helper showed up and got the job done in short order. The job was done just recently so I can't tell you about durability. I can tell you that we were happy with the speed of response, and that all the workers were personable and cleaned up afterwards decently. Throughout the process, Greg was a good and consistent communicator too. If you're looking for an experienced roofer - and one who knows slate - definitely include J & M Roofing in your considerations.

He didn't overcomplicate the project or load me up with roofing jargon like other contractors did. Their quote came in customized to our project and was built to have no large "extra material " surprises when the project closed. They were always communicative and friendly about the project. When they encountered a situation that was abnormal, they walked me through the issue and offered resolutions that would've cost them money. They seem to be stand-up craftsmen who want to do a good job at all costs and don't treat their customers like just another number. If you are going to invite anyone to do work on their home especially on your roof, they are the type to get.

It was probably loosened when installing the drip edge and not properly re-secured. This trim had previously been installed on my house for 20 years with no issues. Overall, I was decently satisfied with the work East Penn Roofing did on my home, but I was very…read morefrustrated with the lack of communication and the surprise bill I received at the end. We had Jacob, the estimator, come out and give us a quote of around $6,000 (plus or minus a few hundred dollars) for a roof leak repair. The crew came out, installed a new rubber roof on our back sunroom, added a skylight, and did some carpentry work. The only communication I received during the project was a single phone call from Jacob, letting me know the cost might be a few hundred dollars higher than the original estimate. The next day, however, someone else came out asking us to sign a change order stating we owed an additional $3,200 on top of the $6,000 estimate. I could have understood $1,000 over, but more than 50% higher with no warning? That was completely unreasonable. Unfortunately, their fine print allows them to tack on costs without much recourse for the customer. Change orders are presented after the work is done, not during the process, leaving you with no opportunity to approve or decline adjustments as they go. In summary: East Penn Roofing does solid work, but their communication is poor and you should be prepared for surprise costs far above your initial estimate. Buyer beware.

When the repair did not work and I reached out to get Dan to come look at it and re-repair, he was non-responsive. I tried for over a year to get a response. Neither emails, texts, nor phone calls were returned. I reached out to the designer who referred him to me to see if she could get him to contact me. He also did not respond. To be fair, it's entirely possible that the designer didn't bother to pass along the messages. Either way, I'd strongly recommend not to use Reese Roofing -- because if there is an issue, there is no response.

did some work for Steve. thought he was a friend but I must have been mistaken because he chose to…read moreduck me over and over again about paying me. it's been over a month so I assume he has no intention of doing so. he did a hack job working on my house in the past also putting down self leveler on the floor in the consistency of concrete instead of a liquid consistency which left lumps all under the fresh floor I just paid to have installed. ended up finishing my projects on my house with someone else since he wouldn't assume responsibility for the quality of work not being there for the amount of thousands of dollars I paid out.
