We ended up at Veranda Beach because we were looking for a quiet cabin to go to with our dog for a few days. Veranda Beach is a cottage resort on Lake Osoyoos in Washington. The cottage itself was super cute and very clean. It even had a milkshake machine! Yum. I'd totally live there. :) It wasn't as remote as we were hoping for because it is located in a fairly large community of cottages. There were a lot of families (and kids) around, so at first we weren't sure we'd like it, but we ended up loving it and want to go back again soon! While it's definitely not "roughing it" (which is what we kind of hoped for), it's a great place to take a family and have all the conveniences and amenities of home in a beautiful mountain setting. read more

Renter beware. It's unfortunate that in this day of AirBnb and VRBO who allow for cancelations. Veranda Beach exists - a resort who refuses to help their customers when fires are burning out of control in the area. Veranda Beach cottages is a quant little place in Oroville Washington. My kids and I booked with them for a week in Aug 2018. They demand full payment in advance. However they were hit (again) with raging fires on all sides. So the Smoke is unhealthy for children and adults alike. Not only do they not communicate this with arriving quests, they refuse to make any adjustment. So we are either having to deal with high levels of smoke where Environment Canada says stay inside or we are out $4000 US. My advice to renters at Veranda Beach Resort is to #1. Not pay in full up front. #2. don't book in August when fires are always burning. And third... check Airbnb or VRBO first. Then you won't lose your money. read more
