This January he had my 73 year old mother go off of her heart medication ( blood thinner) for Afib, to get a routine colonoscopy done. She has no family history of colorectal cancer nor any symptoms. The Gi doctor nicked her and she kept bleeding. Not knowing she went back on the blood thinner for her heart. She kept bleeding internally until she had to be hospitalized twice to receive blood transfusions and go back off of the blood thinner for a full month to stop the bleeding. Her legs swelled around Easter.. and on May 5 she had a stroke from blood clots that formed from being off of the blood thinner for so long. After a horrifying week in the Torresdale ICU, we had to take her off of total life support and let her go. My. Other should still be here. She was active and helped me raise my kids every day. She was not an elderly woman. She bowled and walked the dogs and played w my kids. This should have never happened. My moms life was cut short becasue of being advised by this doctor whom she trusted, to go off of the medication she needs, to get s routine test she doesn't need. At 73, even if she did have colerrectal cancer.. which is slow moving.. she would have been alive into her 80's. This mistake and risk he took with her life is not okay. The only person I have in my life to talk with and help me raise my kids is gone.. for no good reason. Do not follow doctors advice blindly.. they do not have your best interest in mind.

I've been a patient here for nearly 6 month's and have had a bad experience a majority of the time. I stayed with them hoping it would get better but it hasn't. Every time I call in with a question I receive an attitude from the receptionists, and that's IF they even answer! Half the time it rings until the line disconnects. I decided to confide in Dr Doner hoping he could reconcile the situation (as he's been there for many years) and he began cursing and shouting at me. This institution is not one of healing nor even remotely close to patient friendly. To berate a patient the way he did is unacceptable. Never in my life have I been treated that way by an authority figure in any profession, much less a doctor. Needless to say, I'd never return and I'd never recommend them to anybody. Although I had an apponitment, I had to wait AN HOUR before I was even taken into the exam room. Once in there, I waited another 15 mintues. Finally Dr. Schecter arrived. He was nice, but I really did not feel confident about the things he was saying. I kind of felt like he was dismissing what I thought was going on with me, even though I've been dealing with it for a months and he'd only heard about my symptoms a minute ago. Also, I could not believe that he actually answered his cell phone while in the exam room! After the call he apologized and said it was his brother in law, but still!

A big shout out to nurse Anne who goes above and beyond to help when you need it. From arranging specialists appointments to calling to find out how you are. I hope that Dr. Cohen continues to provide medical care for many years to come. Going to the doctor's can be stressful enough; having excellent PCP staff makes it so much easier.

She was also pushing hard for me to get on a daily prescription for something I suffer with maybe twice a year & is handled with OTC meds. Wish I could've at least met Dr. Cohen. Sounds like a great doctor. I also didn't like how I had to call to practically BEG to have my vitamin supplement prescription renewed. They're vitamins. These people were acting like it was narcotics making me jump through hoops.
