I would not advise anyone to visit this Dr/office if at all possible. I visited years ago and the memories recently came flooding back, which is why I'm now reviewing. The office is unclean, unorganized, and unprofessional. Staff are verbally attacked by Freedman, often in front of patients. She seems unstable and unpredictable, which is frightening, given that she is making medical decisions. I don't doubt that she has (or once had) the knowledge needed to practice, but that's doesn't mean she should. I've been a patient of Dr. Freedman's for over a year, and my only disappointment is that I did not find her sooner! It is always a wonderful experience from start to finish. I began seeing Dr. Freedman after my previous PCP of several years relocated. Finding a new physician & having to start over from the beginning can be daunting and overwhelming, but from my very 1st appointment, it felt like I had known her for years. Not only has she taken great care of my health, but also she is lovely to speak with at every appointment. She's the only doctor that actually listened to & addressed my health concerns. The office staff is welcoming, friendly, and very prompt. I always leave with a complete understanding of my care and an answer to each & every question/concern. Scheduling an appointment is always a breeze, and I've never had to wait more than15 minutes to be seen. She even was willing to flex her schedule when I was late for an appointment due to traffic. She's easily accessible, unlike most doctors where you have to call multiple times to speak to the doctor, only to get nothing in return. I sent her a message online and she got back to me herself immediately (on a weekend at that)! Most importantly, she welcomes your input and doesn't just dictate what she thinks is best for you...she makes your health & well-being a team effort. I have only been to Dr. Freedman once and I was extremely impressed. She is very direct. She knew what I needed and received a cortisone shot that has helped me immensely. Yes, the office is different than the usual, she was short with her nurses, but what I experienced was a professional doctor who cared about my pain and alleviated it. I went to see this Dr years ago and the memory of the visit still haunts me today... I worry about the mental health of her staff because Dr.Freedman spent most of the time either talking down to them or flat out yelling at them. It was extremely uncomfortable. Dr. Freedman struck me immediately as one who is a truly dedicated physician who wants to get positive results for her patients. She is very personable while being quick and efficient! I went to her because of increasing frequency of IBS symptoms. It seemed no change in diet helped. After some testing, Dr. Freedman started me on a rotation diet in April, and I have not had one IBS episode since then. I'd say I'm 80-90% better! Much improved! I had a great experience with Dr. Freedman. She helped me figure out somethings that were fundamental in my path to recovering, and she did so on her personal time. I gave Dr. Freedman a try for a few months. I believe she gives OK advice and as a holistic doctor, has some controversial views (or maybe cutting edge, depending on your vantage point). However, I believe she exploits these views to sell her patients expensive health products/services from which she gets commission. Note that these health products are not covered by insurance and to her own admission, have limited clinical evidence supporting their use. There were also times I felt pressured to make quick judgements to purchase laboratory tests or nutritional supplements directly from her, and I didn't appreciate that kind of high-pressure sales approach. Her general attitude and the fact that her office is full of advertisements - from the TV screening drug company ads to the branded lab test literature in patient rooms and waiting room - makes me feel that she's only in it for the money, and not so much for my own health. read more

I have put up with this nasty, rude woman for several years now but no more! I can't understand why her staff allows her to treat them so horribly in front of patients, while calling the patients "darlin" and acting so sweet and interested. She is brusque and uncaring! Her office is appalling and though her staff is pleasant, she is not. As far as her diagnostic ability is concerned, she certainly tried, in the beginning, to diagnose my problems and prescribed natural supplements instead of drugs, which I was happy about. But they didn't work so she never tried anything else. I've been a patient of Dr. Freedman for years. In fact, my entire family sees her. We've been very happy with her care. Dr. Freedman really knows her stuff. Not only is she an MD, but she is also an expert in alternative medicine. Her approach is to treat the whole body and not just the symptom. I relocated to another city over a year ago and miss Dr. Freedman, dearly! She was very professional and personable and treated all my health issues. I had one visit with Dr. Freedman and that was enough. Within five minutes of my arrival Dr. Freedman was unnecessarily yelling and berating her staff, the receptionist andn the other young man, his title was a "medical scribe". I was handed paperwork by the receptionist, who was then yelled at by Dr. Freedman for not giving it to me fast enough, and I was only waiting 5 minutes max before she handed it to me. Then Dr. Freedman approached me in lobby of her waiting area (in the presence of another patient) and asked me what the purpose of my visit was. Can you say lack of privacy? Then invited me into her back office to decipher whether the purpose of my visit would be a covered under a "well" visit or not, becuase and I quote "I don't want to commit insurance fraud". (sounds like there may have been some previous issues in that department). I was then escorted to a small dingy room where this 18-year old looking "medical scribe" started running through a checklist of medical questions to me, which made me immediately uncomfortable since he is not a nurse. He then asked me if he could take my blood pressure but said he is still "practicing" how to do it, so the receptionist came in and helped him. Then I was escorted into another room where I met with Dr. Freedman. Immediately I could tell hygiene was not a priority becuase this exam room was covered in a carpeted floor, there was a biohazard trashcan on top of the counter next to the sink, and there was a medical instrument that looked like it was waiting to be washed, sitting in the sick. GROSS. I was just having a physical so I just grinned and beared it for the moment. During our 15 minute visit, Dr. Freedman felt it was necessary at one point to abruptly leave the room JUST to berate the medical scribe who had completed my medical questionnaire, becuase he had made some mistake. needless to say that was my last visit there. She may be a medically intelligent doctor, but she lacks customer service, humility towards her stay, professionalism, and maintenance of a sterile environment. read more

1. Office- it's a basement garage converted into doctors office. You literally enter through garage door. So very low ceiling, dark.. feels like some type of cave. 2. Staffs- ok to pretty nice. 3. I have only seen her 3 times and the 3 times was horrible, she does not make eye contact with you. I heard her asking the staff over and over if they got my CO-PAY. She acts as if she's way too busy to speak with you enough to understand what your needs are, and she also makes quick suggestions of your diagnosis without hearing all your complaints. I made sure that I will never have to go back to her office again by switching to another doctor fast. I wish I had read the reviews before choosing as my PCP. I was looking for a new primary care physician who lived closer to me, and thought having an MD with a holistic background would be a good idea, so when I found Lisa B Freedman, MD, I felt like I lucked out. I thought it was strange-- and unprofessional -- that her office is inside a garage. (I kid you not! You have to walk up to a doorbell and someone comes out and hits the garage door button. The garage door lifts, and you walk into her garage, with a car to the left and old strollers and junk to the right. Craziest thing ever.) But I thought, well, if she's good, who cares, right? Some of the reviews of her practice where not so great, mostly talking about poor bedside manner, so I was ready for that ... but I had no idea just how bad it would be. This person charges for EVERYTHING and I'm not talking about just supplements and co-pays... she's makes you pay $5 to get your blood taken! (Her staff is wonderful and was very apologetic for the physicians' behavior.) Then when my blood work came back she insisted that I return to get the results -- that means another co-pay. Since she is only hold part-time hours, it was difficult to get our schedules to line up. When I requested that she send me my blood results, she stalled and insisted that I come in. When I told her that since we had such a hard time getting our schedules to line up, that maybe I should find a new office with more traditional hours, she told me I could PAY to get my results. That's right,... she's wanted $20 -- the same exact amount as my co-pay for an office visit. Seriously??? (yes, I she wanted me to pay for my own blood results.) Even though I was told that my blood work was completely NORMAL! (I did call Quest and a representative said that I could always request my results directly from them. So grateful for Luke at Quest!) Seems to me that she wanted the co-pay and she was unhappy that I wasn't coming back. So instead, she decided to hold my blood results hostage. While there she told me to buy three supplements that cost more than $75. She gets her supplements from Douglas Labs. When I ordered, I asked the company rep if the physician gets a kick back from the supplements, and they said yes. (No wonder Dr Freedmen told me that she could not go through traditional medicine for my Vit. D and Iron pills..she wanted the kickback) This physician seemed to be more about the money and less about the care. While I could deal with her harsh bedside manner, trying to sell me (home-made) jewelry in her patient room and the very odd layout of the garage/office ... I won't put up with someone trying to shake me down for money. I feel like I dodged a bullet with only going once. It's more than obvious that she's in it for the money and not much else. read more

I have a bad back and have problems sitting for long periods of time. For that reason, I've had several people ask me why I travel almost two hours one-way to see Dr Freedman at her closest office, Villanova. What I tell them is that seeing Dr Freedman is worth the trip! When I found Dr Freedman several years ago, it was a godsend. I was suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia and my last 3 doctors did nothing to help me. One of those doctors even went so far as to suggest that it was all in my head and that I needed a psychiatrist, not a medical doctor. Dr Freedman felt otherwise and tested me for the virus associated with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. She then applied those findings to the battery of symptoms I was experiencing, and did a thorough examination on me. Based on what she found, she told me the chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia are NOT in my head and that it was clear as day I was dealing with these problems. She assured me she would work with me to manage these difficult chronic conditions, and has for the past several years now. She is a very smart lady, and an MD, but uses holistic and natural methods to treat her patients as much as possible. I like that! Thanks to Dr Freedman, I am doing better than I ever thought possible. I'm sorry to see some negative reviews on here regarding Dr Freedman. I think some people have unrealistic expectations of what a doctor can do for them. Doctors are only human and though, in my opinion, I think Dr Freedman is an excellent doctor, people must understand that it takes time working closely with your doctor for a period of time before you might make any progress. Dr Freedman is a very kind and understanding person, but she is only one person and not part of a group where she can delegate some of her patients to other doctors, she must go it alone. She works very hard and wants to fit in and help as many patients as possible because she doesn't want to shortchange anyone. As a result, she may sometimes appear harried, rushed or impersonal. I can assure you that's not the real Dr Freedman. All I can say is, she is helping me and has given me a quality of life I hadn't been able to find while seeing those other doctors, for that I'm grateful. read more

Dr. F has changed my life! I have severe chronic migraines and instead of just throwing drugs at me with bad side effects like other doctors did, she has worked with me to identify and address the root causes of my migraines. Appointments can take a while sometimes but well worth it, and the only holistic MD that I've found in the area who will take my insurance. I'm now taking my daughter to her too for management of her hypothyroidism. It doesn't seem to me that Dr. Freedman is at all interested in helping people or taking new patients. I called her because she was on the IBX website as taking my insurance. I sent two emails with no response and a phone call which she finally did return. She was short and quite tart. She told me she "could not afford to take health insurance or work for $5 and most doctors are the same." I asked her why the IBX website would have her listed and she said "because they never update their site, that's why". She made me feel like a bother and she talked down to me. I understand our health insurance system is a mess! Believe me I do, but to talk to someone without any compassion what-so-ever, is just hurtful. I asked her what she charged, expecting some sort of a compassionate explanation and all she just barked at me, "I charge one hundred and twenty five dollars a visit". My first impression was I should have gotten up and walked out. I ignored the physical environment but I should not have ignored the doctor's approach. The doctor never introduced herself but took my insurance card right away. She was raising her voice to her employees. The doctor obtained a verbal history while being interrupted numerous times. I had to remind her of my history. Dr Freedman never performed a physical exam. Dr Freedman explained she could help me but first I needed laboratory blood work and that this was not covered by insurance. She did say "so I do not bother sending to the insurance company. You pay this amount today and that will be it." Dr. Freedman told me that there would be no additional charges for me for the laboratory blood work. Weeks went by and I received a letter from Spectra Cell Laboratories stating they submitted services to my insurance carrier. Spectra Cell stated I had to produce an Eligibility of Benefits letter from my insurance carrier or I might have to pay for Spectra Cell services myself. I received an Eligibility of Benefits letter from my insurance carrier explaining the services were not covered since Spectra Cell was not a recognized lab. I forwarded the letter to Spectra Cell. Spectra Cell Lab sent me a bill for close to 700 dollars. I called Dr Freedman. She and I went back and forth and at one point she told me to fix it with Spectra Cell. The bill was then reduced to under $200 dollars. I told her this was her problem based upon what she had originally told me. She finally did take care of it and now I have a letter from Spectra Cell stating my balance is $0. Something is not right here. read more
