Visited the Verizon store in Carbondale, Illinois on March 21, 2026 at approximately 4:15 pm to return a modem/router. They advertise in-store returns, but the employee working at that time refused to properly look up my account or issue a receipt. Instead of a quick, standard return, I got excuses and zero effort to resolve it. No accountability, no attempt to help--just a flat "we can't." If management wants to know who dropped the ball, check who was working the floor at that exact time. This wasn't a system issue--it was an effort issue. If Verizon is going to promote in-store returns, staff needs to actually process them. Otherwise, you're just wasting customers' time and risking billing disputes. Drove 30 minutes to Marion, Illinois, and that store has employees that actually bothered to look up the customer data and do the in-store return. Imagine that. showed up for apt--had to wait a half hour. was quoted 55$ over phone for internet and landline. This was in line with verizons media ad. but they don't just ring up your purchase. They have a sales force there. By the time i was done with the salesman the price for the exact same thing was 106$. I didn't ad any thing. he didnt talk me into anything extra. Still just home phone and internet. This was a classic bait and switch. I just walked out. These people are awful. don't go! If I could rate them a Zero I would. Watch out!! read more

Stopped in with a phone that turned inoperable. Had to "sign in" with a kid and a touch pad. Spent half an hour waiting, dawdling, thumbing my sack, for a tech to help us. When they called my name, I explained the problem. He took out tools and stripped it down, case, covers, battery, everything. He says "it looks like it got wet." I said it's a good thing I pay monthly for insurance huh? They he tried to sell me a new phone to "upgrade". when I told him I just want this thing fixed or replaced, nothing more...he walked away and called another customer leaving me with a pile of parts on his counter...then got pissed when I wouldn't move so he could try to upsell another customer. I drove from Carbondale to DuQuoin Verizon store and they warrantied it out and I had a new phone in the mail in 2 days. If I were talking to a potential customer of this place, I would suggest driving miles away to a different store, or just go T-mobile. Anything but these people. They just want to sell sell sell. These guys are awesome. I came by just before close when my phone stopped accepting calls today. The man who assisted me (Jordan?) was a great help and immediately found out what I needed to fix the phone. In-and-out in like 15 minutes with a bew Sim card and the phone is workings great. read more

This store is in a great location. The floor plan is well laid out and the staff are awesome. Granted you might wait a little bit but I feel like that is only because the staff wants to be sure that each costumer is taken care of before they leave. read more

Poor customer service and not knowledgeable. Brought in an unlocked phone that is verified compatible with the network and they could not and would not activate a sim for it. They claimed I needed to buy a Verizon phone. Total BS. I did the research and I found this to be a common practice of Verizon and also found the procedure to activate a sim on another phone and transfer it to the new unlocked phone. They were aware of that procedure and still refused to do it claiming there were no phones available in the entire store they could perform the action on. Once again, totally unhelpful and also non caring. Don't do business with this company. Lots of other providers with better rates and much better service. read more

Visited this store the other day to enquire about a new deal on a new device. Store is well laid out like other modern Verizon stores. Visited on a Saturday afternoon when it was surprisingly not busy whatsoever. There were maybe 5 customers in total. But I still had to wait 10 minutes to meet with a customer representative. I asked about a new offer which had been advertised on cellphone websites and was available through the Verizon website. This representative denied the deal. So I walked out and picked up the device at a nearby store for the deal price. I usually have decent experiences in Verizon stores in other parts of the country so I'm putting this down to one incompetent and inefficient employee. Pity. Should be better. read more
