Free warm showers and a washing machine. there's a full service conveniences store with a cool local vibe. We stayed at the state site later in the week which turned into a mud site when it rained for 2 straight days. I'd prefer this site since it has grass and the tent stays "cleaner" since the grass takes a bit longer before it turns into mud. I would visit again.

Maple Hill offers an in-expensive and convenient camping experience for those looking to go hiking or sight seeing in the Bristol/Waterbury area. The "downtown" of Bristol is a short drive away if you need to buy supplies or want a nice evening out for dinner and ice cream. They have both wooded and field sites you can get a nice spot right on the river. There is also a bathhouse with running water, showers, and flush toilets. I have never been so pleased with an experience of true human compassion and the people running this campground are what all humans should achieve to be. I know this review may be somewhat cryptic but might I just add: Make sure that you remember that the road for the campground is located across the street from the white house and not to find yourself going down a rocky dirt road in the dark, in a rainstorm, in the fog....Things may not end up well for you haha. Anyways, Martha is the best and thank God for AAA. Check in and registration is at the white house and campsites run about 25/night for non electric sites.

The field sites are huge, and open... they don't offer the privacy but would be a fantastic place camp with a group and stargaze. Maybe the only time I have used a campground bathroom and not had to avoid the hordes of harvestmen/daddylong-legs. And the bathroom lights are solar powered! Super nice owner, low rates, very clean grounds. It's close to some neat swimming holes, hiking and mountain biking trails, as well.

I was told by the owner that it was a class reunion and to "deal with it". I had my 12 year old daughter with me at the time and not one of us slept 10 minutes that night. What a rip off! and to add further insult to injury I had to give these people an extra 25 just to drive my car off the property. Their rationale was that they didnt want "riff raff " coming in and out. Funny they should say that because the "Riff Raff" were the losers staying at the campground that night.The whole camping "experience" cost me well over 40 since they charge 25 just to reserve a site. .....I do have to mention that the owners were pleasant enough to deal with, but my horrible camping experience that night far overshadowed any kind of niceties they exhibited...I would never , ever recommend this campground if you were looking for a quiet relaxing outing. Perfect place for people that drink cheap beer, drive rusty pick up trucks and watch nascar.

Just got back from a lovely weekend camping at Putnam Pond. My group reserved three sites; two…read moreadjacent and one across the "street". The roads around the campsites were in pretty bad shape. I was worried my little Honda would revolt. The sites were clean and level, and each had a firepit and picnic table. A pickup truck makes the rounds a few times per day selling firewood, ice and worms, or you can just drive a few minutes out of the site toward Ticonderoga and pick up your own. It was a short walk to the restrooms and showers, which were the cleanest of any campground I'd ever been to. Honestly, I was impressed! A slightly longer walk took us to the pond itself, where you can rent canoes, fish, or just relax and take in the picturesque view. We hiked the Lost Pond Trail, and it was very clearly marked. No need for a map. Lost Pond is gorgeous! Keep your food in your car or cooler when unattended. The red squirrels are cute, but brazen! Bring lots of bug spray. Leave your cell phone off because you won't have service. Once the withdrawal wears off, you'll have a great time. Promise.

All the sites located in the very front of the park were on grass by a pond, which meant no dust and not having to wash the coach or car after our stay. This park is located across the road from the lake which made for a beautiful view from our site. We were in the site closest to the front and the road, but traffic was minimal and we found it peaceful enough to sit outside and enjoy the sound of the pond frogs and the view. Too many large trees here for satellite reception. Almost the whole park (in the back) consists of long term residents but their sites were all clean and well kept. We enjoyed our stay but would have prefered staying in a level site.

The rest rooms and showers are clean and easily accessible, however, the motion lights are only on for a couple of minutes, so you have to move around if you want the lights to stay on. Also, kinda weird, but one of the showers in the men's room is coin-operated, but not the other shower. Come to find out the coin thing doesn't work, but you wouldn't know that because there's no sign to say so. It was fine, though, because the other shower was working with no problems. The pool is EXCELLENT and well-maintained. You can see that the owner takes great care of the pool, and given that the weather was quite hot and humid, the pool was a godsend! On the minus side, the office was always locked when I went there. You can call the owner's number, but that gets to be a pain. They mention a camp store, but I suppose that's in the office, which, of course, was locked. I just went into Brandon to buy what I needed which is only three miles from the campground. The owner charges for each bag of trash which he says is one of his biggest expenses, but I don't know why he just doesn't simply bake in the cost of trash in his rate to camp there. The biggest pain was the dumping station. For whatever reason, the dumping station is roped off with posts in the way so I couldn't drive my camper close to dump my black and grey water. I didn't have a long enough hose to reach, so what I had to do is use my black/grey water portable tank to dump from the camper and then dump in the dumping station. This delayed our departure by a good 45 minutes to an hour. All in all, though, I would recommend Country View Campground.

The roads are fairly narrow in some areas and a bit bumpy, but the sites are easily accessible and level. The shower and bathroom facilities are clean and the area is only 3 miles off the interstate. There is a pavilion down on the stream with picnic tables. Overall we loved our stay there.

Small NY DEC campground with mostly level sites. No frills by DEC standards with no recreational…read morewater feature for boats or beach ( just a guess but this keeps visitors with children looking elsewhere). This campground is mainly for either folks who totally enjoy the camping experience within a fairly primitive campsite facility or for those who want to venture off site and take in the numerous High Peaks region activities. The nearest store for ice and snacks is 7 miles away and the nearest full size town for all other options is Schroon Lake which is over 20 minutes south. Lake Placid is about 40 miles away. Firewood is available at the check in station but is more plentiful and cheaper a bit down the road at a local roadside stand that caters to campers. Most of the sites are very well spaced out for a state campground and there is one trail with a few stated mileage points that originates within the campground. I believe the overall round trip of this trail is about 12 miles. The mileage points ( which are streams and lakes) gives hikers a chance to make the hike shorter if they wish. It is a fairly easy trail , well marked, and well traveled. Unlike many state campgrounds this one will leave a sign up at the office stating which campsites are reserved after it closes for the evening and if an arriving party wishes to pick another site without a reservation please do so and then check in in the morning. A great policy IMO. All in all a hidden gem for a state campsite....don't expect much in the way of frills, but nicely kept and wonderfully private.
