Lion and I went to check it out recently on a clear day. I am a lover of the oddball and kitschy. This meets the bill. It's made of granite, stretches down a narrow alleyway. It was pretty cool, really looks like a zipper. Simple but effective. Definitely worth a stop when visiting Barre.

It remembers a great Vermonter that should not be forgotten. The marker reads... "William Upham resided here during the first half of the nineteenth century. He was an ardent abolitionist, voting against the Fugitive Slave Act and slavery in new states and territories. A member of the Whig Party, Upham represented Vermont as a U.S. Senator from 1843 to 1853. He supported the Canadian rebellions of 1837 and 1838 and vehemently opposed the Mexican-American War, 1846-1848. Senator William Seward eulogized him, saying, "His national policy was the increase of industry, the cultivation of peace and the patronage of improvement." Upham was interred at Green Mount Cemetery in Montpelier." - Vermont Division for Historic Preservation, 2015.

We walked in and were greeted by the friendliest people. They serve beer and I think wine, as well as other drinks like sparkling water and kombucha. They also have your classic movie snacks and popcorn, and seasonings to add to your popcorn. There are two theaters, and we were in the one downstairs. It's adorable, and feels like you're in a cozy, comfy basement watching a movie. It's all comfy couches and was so cute and cozy! This theater shows lots of independent films, and I was so happy to be able to support such a lovely hidden gem in Vermont!

They offer maple syrup, maple related products and some local goods and gifts. They have a theater you can learn about the process of maple syrup production and also a tasting so you can learn different types of maple syrup available and taste the difference. We walked around the premise and watch the video at the theater and shopped at the store for maple goods and maple syrups. At the end we got a small maple creemee to share. They also have a nice play area and seats outside so there were kids and family playing around. Service was good and it's nice that they let you try the maple syrups. For those that are new it's very interesting to learn about the difference in maple syrup available. Overall it's a great sugarhouse to stop by if you are in the area. I can see that this is a great place to go if you want to learn more about maple syrup as well. Its also family friendly.

This station has heavy use for those country travelers headed to New York or DC as the "Vermonter" train passes through twice daily. The route is from St. Albans (used to be Montreal ) to Washington DC, with all kinds of stops in between (NY, Philly). This depot only has a parking lot (safe) and you can leave your car with no worries or fees. A nice change from the car and high gas prices.

I booked a train trip from Waterbury to NYC over a month ago. I got a phone call today, 4 days…read morebefore the trip was to take place, that I would not be on a train but would instead be on a 7 hour bus ride. This is not why I paid for. In addition, the bus did not include the amenities that I had originally purchased access to: wifi and a cafe cart to be able to eat during the journey. With 4 days notice I am unable to book a flight in place of the train and will potentially have to cancel the trip all together. There was no alert of potential reroute via bus when I booked the tickets. Amtrak customer relations was extremely rude on the phone and ended up cancelling my trip without giving me any alternative solution to compensate for the inconvenience and false advertising.
