Lion and I went to check it out recently on a clear day. I am a lover of the oddball and kitschy. This meets the bill. It's made of granite, stretches down a narrow alleyway. It was pretty cool, really looks like a zipper. Simple but effective. Definitely worth a stop when visiting Barre.

I found this on the map that way when passing through Barre, so we stopped to check it out. The surprise of seeing what it is when we got to it, and sharing the experience with other visitors to town was all well worth it. Plus, we parked the car and got to some local spots, and visited the very nice library. It was a good little visit to town. So, if you're in the vicinity of Barre, definitely don't miss this. I was thinking maybe not worth it to drive more than an hour out of your way... but then again, if it's worth it to you, why not?

It remembers a great Vermonter that should not be forgotten. The marker reads... "William Upham resided here during the first half of the nineteenth century. He was an ardent abolitionist, voting against the Fugitive Slave Act and slavery in new states and territories. A member of the Whig Party, Upham represented Vermont as a U.S. Senator from 1843 to 1853. He supported the Canadian rebellions of 1837 and 1838 and vehemently opposed the Mexican-American War, 1846-1848. Senator William Seward eulogized him, saying, "His national policy was the increase of industry, the cultivation of peace and the patronage of improvement." Upham was interred at Green Mount Cemetery in Montpelier." - Vermont Division for Historic Preservation, 2015.

It's adorable, and feels like you're in a cozy, comfy basement watching a movie. It's all comfy couches and was so cute and cozy! This theater shows lots of independent films, and I was so happy to be able to support such a lovely hidden gem in Vermont!

The maple creemee was incredible -- unbelievably delicious, rich, and perfectly creamy with an authentic maple flavor that completely lives up to the hype. Easily one of the best maple treats you'll find anywhere. The maple syrup tasting was both informative and fun. The staff did a fantastic job explaining the different syrup grades and flavor profiles, and it was fascinating to taste how much they vary. Everything felt fresh, high-quality, and clearly made with care. The grounds themselves are beautiful, especially in winter. With a deep blanket of snow covering the landscape, the farm felt peaceful, scenic, and exactly what you hope for when visiting Vermont in February. Went out and about and watched an educational video on how they get the sap from the trees. There is some equipment in that same area which is cool to see. It's Very rustic surroundings, you can tell this is where hard work is done. We walked on the trail to see how the hoses run down from the trees to the barn gathering the sap from the trees. Wishing them nothing but the best with their up coming season for their business.

This station has heavy use for those country travelers headed to New York or DC as the "Vermonter" train passes through twice daily. The route is from St. Albans (used to be Montreal ) to Washington DC, with all kinds of stops in between (NY, Philly). This depot only has a parking lot (safe) and you can leave your car with no worries or fees. A nice change from the car and high gas prices.

I booked a train trip from Waterbury to NYC over a month ago. I got a phone call today, 4 days…read morebefore the trip was to take place, that I would not be on a train but would instead be on a 7 hour bus ride. This is not why I paid for. In addition, the bus did not include the amenities that I had originally purchased access to: wifi and a cafe cart to be able to eat during the journey. With 4 days notice I am unable to book a flight in place of the train and will potentially have to cancel the trip all together. There was no alert of potential reroute via bus when I booked the tickets. Amtrak customer relations was extremely rude on the phone and ended up cancelling my trip without giving me any alternative solution to compensate for the inconvenience and false advertising.
