When I visited there myself in 2024, on a Sunday night, the owner was not there, but his son was and when I showed him the photo of my friends and his dad, he suggested we get a photo of the two of us. We did. Then I just was back again with my sister and brother-in-law and I showed them both those two photos and they suggested getting a new one of the three of us. We did. Now I live in California, so it's not like dropping in because I'm in the neighborhood, but this place feels like family!! They delivered a fabulous dessert for my 80th birthday. That is family! We had first gone to another Italian restaurant that was nearly empty, but due to reservations, they wouldn't take us in. This place was full, but the owner said if we could just wait a few minutes, they had some tables that were leaving. We had the caprese salad to start. It was very good. The mozzarella, tomatoes, arugula, basil, everything was fresh, and a nice sized portion, enough for two. We had lasagna that was a shareable size as well. It came out, piping hot, bubbling actually. But we made sure to save room for the cheesecake. Probably the best cheesecake I've ever had. The espresso martini and cappuccino topped it off. The crust was thin, cracker-like and we liked that very much. Among our best meals. I missed the photo as we were too ready to dig in! The restaurant was very lively, lots of festive music and plenty of people watching available. The reason why my rating is only 3 stars is the following. First of all it takes quite long to get the order. I was initially the only customer and the first to order, but still it took 20 minutes for 3 sandwiches. Yes, a lot of love and time was put in it. But 20 minutes for a sandwich to go is too long. Your sandwich is prepared in the kitchen in the back, so be prepared to see the chefs disappear for minutes and just trust they will be back. Secondly, the place looks like they moved in yesterday. When I asked how long ago they moved in, they answered: "5 months ago!!" Wow, either they have been REALLY busy, or the focus is REALLY on the food. The nice thing about Italian places usually is the nice atmosphere and decorations, which this place, according to my taste, lacks. Lastly, the price is a bit high. If you just look for a place to get a nice bread or meal to take away and have some patience, try this out. For me for now it will be 3 stars, but I will come back to order other food and reconsider.
