Let me start off by saying, it was not love at first sight; I've been at Verona of District Heights for 5 Years in Aug. Of 2020. Parking, truely WAS a freak'n nightmare; I've never experienced the mice and roaches and I 've been in three units thus far. I would like to comment on maintenance, honestly they don't respond same day BUT they do come within 24-48 hours depending on the problem. Verona of District Heights are remodeling all units and I've moved in one that is upgraded beautifully!! parking is progressively getting better; much better from a couple of years ago. Do NOT move around here! Not only are they mice infested, the AC is constantly out and instead of fixing it the head of maintenance "Walter" would rather play around with pipes mess the system up even more and then wants to place blame on the other maintenance techs. My AC has been out now for over a month! I was only given one portable AC unit for a top floor 3 bedroom unit. I had to go purchase ($400) another portable unit because the 1 unit was not enough to cool my home. After calling 311 and reporting the issue and letting the property know I was finally given a 2nd portable unit by them. Even with the 3 portables In total AND fans blowing my unit still reads 83 degrees which I showed to the leasing office. But the last straw for me was coming home from work and finding head of maintenance in my unit with my underage children including my 7yr old daughter who was In the bed in her underwear of the room he "claimed" he needed to work in. Last work order notification I received the week prior too said a contractor would be contacted and scheduled. Head of Maintenance excuse was my son allowed him entry which is absolutely FALSE. My sons are also minors 13/15 one the 15yr old being autistic and the office is fully aware of this as this is not the first time he has entered my home without notification. Office confirmed he should not have been in unit and that they were waiting for contractors to confirm scheduling. Never did he record in the system the need to come into my unit or access being needed. On my lease I am the only person over 18 and the rule is maintenance must announce themselves 24hr prior too and may also NOT enter if only minor children are in the home. After speaking with Seth the property manager every excuse was given in the book even though he confirmed that the last note in the system was a note he put for the contractors to be scheduled so he didn't understand why he was in my unit either. After speaking with him I come back to my house to find maintenance in my unit again! I went right back to the office and told Seth who then repeats what I said "they are back in your unit again" I said YES and he said was calling them right at that moment. I reached out to corporate Thursday, today is Monday evening still no contact from anyone! I also reached out to the police and filed a report seeing as how my child was in her bed In her underwear while he was in my unit in her room! I do not feel that management takes anything serious AGAIN this is not my first experience with maintenance doing exactly whatever they want to do. The only maintenance that I have encountered that does their job to the T is Francisco. He is greatly appreciated as he always goes above and beyond, he's respectful, and very proficient. The management around here is very poor in customer service. In one month alone management has entered our homes at-least 5times claiming that they need to do "assessments of the units" it is the summer time kids are out of school so because they can't be in the unit without an adult while management does these assessments I have to take off work every time. To the point I have complained to Assistant Property Manager Veronica. This janky place is not worth the hassle nor the money they charge for rent. And the way they try to get you is they want to threaten with $150 fine fee for EVERYTHING. The worse mistake I have ever made and I've only been living around here 4 1/2 months. DO NOT APPLY! I would not suggest that my worse enemy move here. I have been a leaseholder/resident here for 3 years. Although the units are nicely upgraded, and I have not experienced any unwanted rodents, I must comment on the lack of community upkeep. There is always trash all over the community. The large trash cans are always spilling over with trash, and the trash company will literally leave whatever falls on the ground. I cant count how many times I have had to put on a glove and move trash from the parking lot to simply pull out of my parking space. The walls and floors are paper thin so the smell of smoke and marijuana from the hallway and other neighbors will get into your apartment. It started out pretty quiet here, but over time it has become noisy. I live on the bottom floor and it seems that everyone with kids move on the second and third levels so there is always noise above my head and loud music that radiates the walls and ceiling. There have been 4 armed robberies and two shootings in the community damaging cars and bottom floor apartments. There are always water issues, notices are emailed once a week with water shut off for rep, airs, heat and/or AC shut off for repairs. The security gate has never worked since I've lived here, meanwhile rent increases. Plumbing is horrible, dogs bark from windows and balcony's all day long, and there is dog poop everywhere. I recently moved in and I got a remodeled unit in the building with the leasing office. The place was neat and clean and the finishes were neat as well. Just did the math for last month (28 days only cause it was February) there were 8 notifications about the heat going out... literally every week something goes out whether it be heat, ac, electricity, alarms going off and not stopping, etc. DO NOT MOVE HERE. They don't fix things unless it's dire, they charge me for insurance even though I've provided proof of renters insurance already THREE TIMES VIA EMAIL. Property stays dirty and nasty with food and trash everywhere cause residents don't care to take care of it. Last time I used The laundry facility people were smoking weed in there. Literally "boxed it out" there was so much smoke. Gate doesn't even work. Doors were made for fobs and none of the building doors even lock except for the leasing office... all of the "security measures" are for show and none of them actually even work! The worse place to live period! My little sister loss my nephew all behind the negligence of the maintenance manager! He took my sisters faucet off the tub and never returned it! Long story that became the worse, My nephew got in and the HOT WATER shot out on to his stomach area but mainly burning his leg really bad! He was under sedation and intubated so long that it ruined his lungs! In the process his lungs collapsed and you know the SAD ENDING! I'm not asking for sympathy but I'm just trying to make sure they pay for everything they caused my sister! Down to them taking her shoes and belongings after locking her door and telling her to wait to come pick her things up! Please don't move here! Under new management doesn't change the fact that the maintenance suck, the apartments are old and out of date. You can't control the a/c when you want.. the apartment doesn't have individual air units. The rent is to much, it always trash in the parking lot, kids playing in the parking lot without supervision. They have a dog park, but residents let their pets poop on sidewalks so you gotta watch your step.. this place is terrible and I wouldn't advise that no one move here. They need to remodel all apartments and place A/c units in each apartment. read more

I've been living here for two decades, and the property is rapidly declining, due to the lax and inexperienced management! Unfortunately, myself, and many other tenants currently residing here, have encountered theft from maintenance workers! They've been frequently known for abusing their privileges, by making unauthorized entries into resident's homes, when they're away and/or at work! Plus, they've also been known for committing acts of apartment vandalism, within tenant's homes! Obviously, it's the maintenance workers entering our homes, and performing these acts, because they have easy access to keys, and/or can easily make copies of keys, to selected apartments of interest, whenever keys are obtained via repair requests, or etc.! The above occurrences have transpired within the homes of tenants, especially, if they dislike, and/or resent a tenant, for making valid complaints to management or etc., regarding apartment issues that have been neglected, resulting in reprimand, and/or, if they learn that you've complained about unwelcomed activity surrounding your home, that greatly impacts your quality of living! Effective immediately, the owners' need to perform "police background checks," on ALL employees, that they hire to work at Verona at District Heights! Especially, those who have access to keys, to enter into tenant's apartments!! Based on the above serious occurrences, it is obvious that such action is currently warranted! There could potentially be employees working at Verona at District Heights, who have key access to our homes, that currently have criminal and dangerous backgrounds! Under no circumstance, should employees be allowed to enter our homes, without proper notice, and/or current background checks! This should be a mandate, to perform background checks, annually, in the event there are any new, and unknown criminal-related charges, for the safety of your tenants! Unfortunately, the property managers can be too lax, and also show lack of empathy and concern, when it comes to urgent, serious, and complex issues that are reported, and warrants immediate attention! On numerous occasions, when attempts have been made to speak directly to the property manager, the staff always make excuses, as to why you cannot speak to the property manager! That's ridiculous!! Periodically, tenants needs to be given an opportunity to speak directly to the property manager, in order to get a complex matter resolved, after numerous and prior attempts via other staff. If they have common courtesy, compassion, and care about the best interest of their tenants, they would make time to briefly communicate, and/or schedule an appointment to meet with the tenant at a later date/time, to address their serious concern! I must acknowledge, the property manager have shown compassion for her tenants, in the past, but her assistant will play pass-interference, so that you cannot address your continuous, and unresolved concerns, directly to her! This is why, the property manager have been ineffective, with management resolutions, because many important issues have been intentionally kept away from her, via her assistant and other office staff, until the matters are seriously escalated, and/or the tenant becomes annoyed and unruly, due to their continuous frustration, in making attempts to speak directly with the property manager! They fail to remember, it's the paying tenants, that are contributing towards paying the salaries of everyone, working for Verona at District Heights! Therefore, our major concerns addressed, should not be dismissed, and/or swept under the carpet! Also, management need to take responsibility, when tenants address major concerns, regarding their apartments, instead of going into denial by disputing tenants, when numerous tenants are having the same valid complaint! Ex: Like the unlawful entries that are being made into tenant's apartments, while they're not at home! In addition, the newly hired leasing consultant, she's extremely rude towards the tenants, unprofessional, and obnoxious!! The problem at this development, is that management hire their close friends, former co-workers, and/or former employees, to work here! That's a big no-no! Therefore, the employees obviously feel that they don't have to respect the tenants, due to their close relationship and/or friendship with management! That alone, is a "conflict of interest!" However, the owners needs to take heed to warning-signs of these ratings, by getting a grip on those operating their property, or, they will eventually go Bankrupt, after tenants decides to relocate to other developments, whereas, the leaders and staff exemplifies professionalism, compassion, concern, and respect for their tenants! This is a beautiful renovated complex BUT THAT IS IT. If your seeking a new home surrounded by dog shit and the constant aroma of marijuana filled hallways seeping into your unit! Then "welcome home". This will be a great fit. There's no security but the display of the security car. They do absolutely nothing but take up space. The walls are paper thin. You hear everything especially if you have inconsiderate loud neighbors. No matter how much reports/ complaints you make to the property management team, nothing changes. If you value your sanity I highly recommend not moving here. Don't make the look foul you. You will sign a lengthy none enforceable Lease Agreement. The leasing office enforcement is deplorable. The only thing they same to do well is collect rent and issue late rent notices. read more

Have never stayed here but I'm around pretty frequently. There are some things that make this apartment complex beneficial, such as the fact that it's close to the grocery store as well as Penn Station shopping center. There are several places to eat in the vicinity that you can walk to, as well as beauty supplies and discount stores for your needs. As far as the complex goes that's where the benefits end. Break-ins and burglary are rampant on this property. Roaches and mice are all too comfortable here. Most (if not all) of the security latches for the entrance doors are disabled and broken. The complex is big, and with developments this big I tend to be wary of management. From the outside looking in, these apartments are okay, but I would thoroughly investigate before trying my hand here. I'm giving three stars solely based off surrounding area. The worse place to live. The apartment Managers and Matience are the absolute worse, they do nothing. Our refrigerator has not worked since we moved in. Its mold at mice everywhere. The a/c looks like it never been changed. We had a huge whole the size a toddler standing up behind the dishwasher that does not work. We had to get inspectors involved for the maitence to come and do the absolute most horrible job patching up the wholes because mice are eat at it. The shower pipes were leaking so bad that the carpet was soaking wet the refused to replace. When they moved the access door to the pipes it was so much standing water that they did not remove. I'm looking into sueing them for uninhabitable living quaters. read more

Hello, I'm a recent past tenant. It's my esteem recommendation you reconsider "The Verona at District Heights". There's a high lack of interest shown by the Leasing Team. No one answers the phones, acknowledges or responds to emails. The general maintenance upkeep of their laundry facilities and cleanliness of the common hall area is deplorable. When it snows the removal team does the bear minimum, I moved in and the building exterior was being renovated and when I moved a year later it was still unfinished. I recently drove by and it's still in the same state since they did some renovations on a few building over a year ago. This property makes promises and display the best on and around the leasing office but please be wise people, it's ghetto camouflage at its finest! The visitor parking rules is bogus crap. The leasing office team tend to post warnings for dog poo but the proof of a landscape filled of dog poo shows how well its being enforced. This is this first apartment complex I've rented from where the leasing managers don't walk the property regularly. So you can't expect much when they obviously don't care. The complex is filled with drugs and particularly WEED. Nothing is done or enforced regarding any kind of smokers despite it being a violation in the lease agreement. The smoke scent reeks through the building halls and into your unit. I had to live for months with towels constantly under my door and vent covers over my vents. This helped reduce the amount of smoke entering my unit but didn't stop it, most annoying thing ever. Regardless of the multitude of complaints you will make to the Leasing office, they will do nothing. I ended up moving after my lease and will never ever recommend them. I need someone to contact me ASAP because as a resident living here at the Verona at District Heights MD living in a hazardous conditioned apartment home with my four year old son. I have discussed these conditions with Laurena in the leasing office especially with the leak that happened in my apartment from the bad roof on my building 5046 Silver Hill Court. I have black mold on the vent near my balcony where the leak happened 7/31/2020, black mold in my AC HVAC closet which is in my bedroom. I have been told anonymously that my four year old should not be in here because it could effect his breathing and cause him to get asthma. I discussed these issues with Laurena starting the 31st of July. Laurena was informed of the mold on 4 different occasions from the contractors and maintenence individuals coming in to check out the million and one issues with my apartment home. Again to check out the issues not fix them. The walls in my entire apartment is cracking from the front door to the balcony frame to the hallway walls inside my bedroom, walk in closet inside and outside, cracks at the AC HVAC closet and my window has cracking at the top, my air filter is dirty, my fridge makes noise, my toilet woobles when you sit and get up off of it, my tub needs to be snaked because it fills up without a stopper and the tub needs caulking. I had a conversation with Laurena yesterday just before the closing of the office (per her usual) and she made it seem as though we never conversed about these hazardous conditions in my apartment home. The one email she responded 12 mins before the office closed. She also made it seem as though she never said she would transfer us out of the problem apartment. I have done everything that they ask of me and I get no follow throughs no calls no emails no nothing. I have even been woken up by contractors trying to enter my apartment on different occasions and no one informed me with a call nor an email stating that these contractors were coming in the AM or anything. I am a woman with a child in my home thats unsafe for a unknown contractor to be entering my home with no notification. By the way I have been here for 5 years new management aint changing SHIT but the color of the brick outside the buildings. read more

apartment is over run by mice and roaches. neighbors had issue of bed bugs they didn't even ask to check my apartment. some members of staff are so unprofessional. maintenance is slow to responding to everything. My refrigerator broke and it took 2 days and 4 phone calls for them to look at for 5 minutes then replace I was told my food loss was my problem. eventually got in touch with main office and was given a credit. if you speak Spanish they are much nicer to you. parking is a nightmare. the tow company is shady (actually took out my parking permit and put under my floor mat. the rental office wouldn't even take my complaint about them had to contact better business bureau. heat and ac controlled by head office. 2-3week in between going from ac to heat then 2-3 weeks to go from heat back to ac. I would never recommend this place to even my worst enemy. I have to call office so often they no my voice and name. I have a video of mice during day just in kitchen running in across stove and playing in floor. I have mice traps in every room. I catch 2-4 mice per week. the pest control only comes about once a month on Friday and that's only if your on list. does no good if your neighbor isn't on list .they run from apt to apt. read more

Do NOT move here!! I lived at this apartment complex for a year and actually paid rent to move out early. I asked if there were roaches prior to my moving in and Tiara (works in the office) told me no. Three days after moving in I find them in the kitchen and in the restroom. I call the office to ask for an exterminator and I'm told that I'll be put on a list! Roaches are a huge problem at this apartment complex clearly. My water was turned off several times as maintenance attempted to "fix" the same problems over and over. I had to contact Fulger Pratt in order to get my dishwasher replaced because maintenance never responded about the request to fix it and Erica (property manager) gave me the run around. The apartment was in "as is" condition when I moved in and upon moving out I was forced to pay for the carpet cleaning despite it not being cleaned when I moved in. My car was hit in the parking lot while I was sleeping and management refused to do anything about that and left me to pay! There's always children playing in the halls, there are weekly break ins (which is why they require you to get $100,000 worth of renter's insurance), there's trash all over the steps, the walls are thin so you WILL hear everything happening in the building, my air conditioning didn't work most of the summer although I put in SEVERAL maintenance requests, my heat only worked on high and that's when it did work! I hated living here.. And would NEVER recommend this place to anyone! You've been warned! read more
