The soup I got was pumpkin Brussel sprout, it was warm, flavorful, and filling!! The owner was super friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxing. They offer espresso, coffee, and lattes as well. They also have unique sodas. The owner makes different soup every week and posts the menu on his Facebook page. My husband got a bean soup with bacon and loved it! So they do have meat options, which is nice to have a variety. I highly recommend and will be going back frequently!

This is an entirely dutch affair as English is nowhere to be found on the menu or anyplace else. Which right there tells you who the clientele is. We have found the food to be inventive and delicious. Our tomato soup contained: Meatballs Pulled pork Macaroni And other odd bits of food we could not tell. It was more a stew than soup but, we didn't care. It was wonderful. The bitterballen was an improvement over the ubiquitous and often thoughtlessly prepared staple found elsewhere. Ours included, cheese, pork and a hot dog....interesting. On a previous encounter Rabbit Maastricht meant covered in chocolate sauce.....doubly interesting. Cafe Postwaegel allows the diner to enjoy the meal without a rush. The sever attends without being intrusive. This is an excellent choice for dinner where company and conversation is as important at the meal itself. We will return.

The coffee was alright-- the Americano tasted watered down, and the caffe latte wasn't that strong either. For food we ordered a deluxe and normal croissant, the mushroom omelet, and croque madame. The croissants were soft and airy, the croque madame was delicious, but the mushroom omelet was lacking since it was literally just mushrooms in overcooked/dry eggs over toast, which was a letdown. I ended up not finishing it.

WARNING: Food is super spicy even at the #1 spicy level. We were informed after ordering that a #0 spicy level was available. Oh well, we will have to remember for next time! Would be helpful if menu or wait staff would routinely inform guests of the high spice level and of this #0 option. We only knew of the high spicy level of this restaurant by reading reviews prior to arriving, but other customers may not read reviews. Also there seemed to be inconsistency in spicy level among the dishes we ordered. Although everything was #1 spicy level, the papaya salad was much more spicy than the green curry vegetable and the stir fry vegetable fish dish.

The lunch prices are very cheap here and I'm not a big eater, so the portion was just right for me. I got the kimchi soup, dumplings, and salad combo, which is a super simple dish that I usually make at home, but I couldn't find the dumpling brand I usually buy at the Asian market here. Overall, the flavor was quite bland and left a lot to be desired. Even the kimchi soup was watered down despite kimchi usually being a pungent and sour dish. Although I do see why the food flavors aren't as strong with most of the food culture here being different, I hoped that all the flavors wouldn't have erred on the bland side. Great service and I hope Maastricht gets more Korean and east Asian restaurants!
