Unfortunately, he developed an abnormally large mass in his abdominal area to quick to contain and would have suffered long pains if he went into surgery and even after, with a very small chance of survival. The vets at this location are the worst. My father dog was misdiagnosed and killed by this location, my dog has had repeat infections and they try to never fix the root of the issue. Horrible vets, they must be fresh out of school and come here to practice on peoples beloved pets and if they cause you to loose your pet you are just a casualty. My pet has become antibiotic resistant because of this location. I spoke to the head manager Coral And their district manager Tracey. Both fully understood what the issue was and refused to fix, It's absolutely disgusting. The district manager, Tracey could give a f less About your pet as long as she's collecting your money. Very useless and unhelpful, Also getting a hold of corporate over several months to fix an issue is damn near impossible. My dog was lucky but my father's was not . I was able to remove my dogs from these multiple vets and go somewhere else that I am extremely happy with My current doctor actually loves animals and you can tell the difference!!!! This location will treat you like at quick care and triage You right out the door as long as they get thousands of your dollars they could care less if your dog lives or dies. And for that trash district manager Tracey, she could care less as long as you pay either way! Horrible care & service, specifically Dr. Martinez who claims she cares about animals but from the text conversation below you can clearly see she doesn't. This business is all about profit. I was there less than 24 hours ago with my dog for an exam, he ended up having an ear infection and I was sent home with medication. I mentioned my dog is a rescue so we're going through a diet change and I fed him boiled chicken and rice and he ended up vomiting once last night. I call Vetco this morning to ask what I should do or if there's an alternative to chicken since it made him vomit thinking the vet could give me advice over the phone but TEXTED me and told me he needs to be examined? My dog was there less than 24 hours ago and was examined and then threw up once and she suggests I bring him in again? Dr. Martinez didn't give me the courtesy of even calling back to hear my concern but she obviously has time to text back and forth and have an attitude. Extremely rude to not even call back a client! It doesn't matter if another Dr. did the exam on my dog, that Dr. wasn't in today and Dr. Martinez is! She represents the company! My dog is acting fine other than vomiting once so I'm not sure what she needs to examine? The crazy thing is I called two other vets and the Dr.'s working told me to hold off on feeding him for the day and see if the vomiting continues. Seems reasonable to me! read more

In July/August 2024 this place was alright. Dr. Rayburn was excellent, appointments were easily available and prices seemed to be reasonable. The issues transpired when we came in for some lab work for our senior kitty as part of him getting an I-131 treatment for his hyperthyroidism and saw a relief vet Dr. Martinez. She was more concerned with his gingivitis and borderline heart failure and gallop rhythm heart murmur. Her bedside manor was AWFUL. Doc, we got him when he was 13 and he is now 16. His teeth were not taken care of prior to us taking him in and about this heart situation... we took our cat to a cardiologist who laughed at the diagnosis (quite literally). Not even a follow-up required. He is now 17 and still doing just fine. Most recently we took our three year old kitten to see another relief vet assuming that Dr. Martinez was the only crackpot vet they'd have on staff and looks like I was wrong. We saw Dr. Ashman in October of 2025. While having a wonderful bedside manor missed a level 2 heart murmur, misdiagnosed periodontal disease as stomatitis and sent me on my way with not a single concern about the fact the cat has lost weight. Her feedback was monitor for a few months and we'll do some bloodwork. Thankfully I took the cat to a vet dentist and another competent vet at another facility and we are now getting some answers. We called ahead and asked about the first time patient discount and mentioned we had been at the vax clinic and we were told we'd still.be able to use the coupon. Finding a vet for my sick kitten during the pandemic was nearly impossible. I stumbled across the new Petco Vetco clinic in Summerlin and they were able to take my kitten in for a sick visit the day after I called. I admit, I was hesitant to bring him to a pet shops veterinarian, but I WOW- I am so happy I did! From the receptionist, to the techs, and the vets- they really provide exceptional care and service! They are so patient and accommodating. I always feel welcome every visit and I love that they call a day later to check in on my fur baby. It's so hard to find good exotics vet in Vegas but Dr. Callahan was super helpful when I had to bring my Guinea pig in for a bladder stone. I had trouble with other vets because they wouldn't give me enough education on how to properly care for my Guinea pig and would send me home with nothing even though I could tell my baby was clearly in distress. He very knowledgeable since he had similar problems with his own Guinea pigs and made sure to address all of my concerns. Surgery went by smoothly and my pig came home feeling a lot better. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO DANTE CALLAHAN, HE IS NOT AN EXPERIENCED VET AND WILL NOT MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICES FOR YOUR PET. Our cat was euthanized because of the choices this vet made. He was only 2. Our cat needed a surgery, we wanted to get it done at this Vetco. The vet quoted us about $1500 but told us he couldn't do the surgery because it was his day off annd the other vet was booked and was referring us to Tropicana Animal Hospital. Turns out they wanted up to $5000 for surgery with a $2000 deposit at the other vet. We had to euthanize. About a year ago we had a great vet at Vetco who helped our dog with an emergency surgery and was great, she moved her schedule around to fit my dog into surgery and saved her life. But this was over a year ago, this vet named Dante Callahan did not even attempt to do this for our cat even though it was an emergency. A good vet should be able to recognize an emergency and find a solution to be able to fit the pet into the schedule. This Vetco is no longer a place I would recommend. My review is solely based off of a real unfortunate experience I had with my Rottweiler. Before coming to Vetco in Summerlins Petco, I was going to Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital which at the time seemed like a great caring place for animals. Well At the time my dog went through a harsh trying road due to her dog food being changed at one point due to cost, she went from Taste Of The Wild Salmon and Sweet Potato to Diamond Naturals Fish and Potato. When I changed her food I noticed she was going downhill fast with her coat being all dingy and dry to her face becoming swollen, losing hair around the eyes, mouth, ears, itching her face allot, and her eyes shutting and getting green pus. When I went to Gentle Doctor they after 5 tries being there and a cost of over 1,000 still could not figure out what was wrong with her and never gave her the essential medications needed. When my dog became worse I immediately called Gentle Doctor and they told me my dog has to see the original Doctor who saw her before. I told them in the past they always allowed her to see any Doctor that was available and this was considered an emergency as she was losing her vision and couldn't keep her eyes open. Needless to say they refused to give me an appointment and completely ignored her care. I called Vetco first, because I saw the reviews and saw the location. I explained in detail to them over the phone what was going on with her and they told me they had no problem squeezing me in for her to be seen. Soon as I brought her in on Saturday, February, 6th 2021, at approximately 3:15 pm, Vetco saw her. They in a long story short gave her medications she needed, a shot, and eye ointment. The next day I noticed she was starting to open her eyes more, and becoming the jittery dog she is. Vetco took her in and treated her like a Hospital should versus Gentle Doctor who literally ignored everything about her and refused to see her until she saw the same Doctor. The staff at Vetco are professional, respectful, caring, listened, and most of all explained everything into detail for me to understand, so my dog gets rid of the problem. I would recommend Vetco to anyone who needs a reliable Vet. read more

Pricing: They try to hook you in with that $45 general checkup fee, but then the end bill... I had to pay $170+ because of their overpriced medications. Going to a local vet should be around $140 max, even if the general checkup is pricier. They even tried charging a recheck up fee of $30, when it's a re-check... for something that the doctor asked for. I called them and they said it's up to the doctor which is fair, but I find it ridiculous that they would charge for a re-check. Experience: The vet was really sweet and told me to buy feliway when asked on how to make my kitten better adjusted into its environment. She was very gentle and my cat's eye is overall getting better and he's starting to purr and get comfortable now! I forgot the vet's name, but I was happy with their care. read more

I have been taking my rats to the Vetco on Sahara for years. I had a great vet there but she left that location and I was worried... I didn't need to be! Dr. McKluskey and the other two vets all treat rats (which is harder to find than you might think). I like them all three of them but am partial to Dr. McKluskey because he is not only knowledgable and clearly loves animals, but his "cageside manner" is just tremendous--He's friendly, upbeat, and even in sad situations, he helps you feel 100% at ease and totally informed. Can't recommend Vetco, and Dr. McKluskey, any higher than 5 stars but I would if I could! read more

I've never had anything but awesome experiences with each doctor and staff member at this location. I have my dog on the Petco Vital Care plan so each of my visits are free. These guys are WAY better than Banfield. You can usually get appointments right away, and I feel like they really care about my dog when we come into visit. Excellent for what we needed! My dog was having problems with her left eye, and after lots of flushing over a few days, with drops, and giving her a Benadryl, we decided it was time to go to the vet. We were unable to get he in at a few local vets because they were booked, so we called Vetco, and they were willing to see us that day. Our experience was excellent. Olivia, our nurse, is amazing with dogs. Ours does not like to be touched when in pain. Olivia was our dog's exception. WIthin minutes, Olivia and Dr. Callahan had taken Moxie's blood, looked into her eye, and diagnosed her with a pierced cornea. The best part is that Dr. Callahan gsve us plenty of time to ask questions and he answered them clearly, simply, and without any condescension. He was so kind ot our dog, and very respectful of us. He prescribed her meds, and Olivia created one of them with our dog's blood! We were astounded! Never saw this before! Olivia was so kind. She explained to us that for dogs and situations like this, their own blood heals them! We just need to administer the blood and eye drop solution, for it to take effect! She was so patient in explaining how and when to administer the meds. Just before leaving, we asked if we could get a quick claw clip on her paws, and Olivia didn't blink an eye. Moxie hates getting hew nails clipped, but Moxie liked Olivia so much, we thought, "Why not?" Olivia clipped her nails in a few short minutes - perfectly. No blood, but not too long! We did not need to get Moxie major surgery or treat for an ongoing condition, but we did need vet attention to our dog's wound. Vetco excelled, and I certainly won't think twice about bringing her back. read more

i brought my geckos in to Dr. K who recommended a treatment for the two of them. they stayed at the hospital for a few days and i was told they were doing well and i could come get them. i was given two antibiotics and eyedrops for them. 5 days after picking them up, one gecko died immediately after giving him the medication he was prescribed. his body went limp and he released all the poop in his body. i went to Dr. K for answers and she said he just didn't make it. he had been battling health problems for a while so it made sense. not even 3 days later, my other gecko (who was in way better condition) died. immediately after i gave her the medicine. she also released all her poop and went limp. the two suffered from completely different ailments and died the same exact way after getting the treatment recommended by Dr. K. i went in to get answers and Dr. K lied to my face saying she told me it was high risk procedure and they likely wouldn't make it. she never told me that. she told me that the "excessive handling" could have also caused the identical deaths. she never told me that (yet, prescribed a medication that required excessive handling). she told me my lack of education with geckos contributed to their death (when i told her i was very uneducated upon meeting her, expecting her to be thorough). she said i don't deserve a refund and she wouldn't advocate for one because i agreed to pay her "after she told me the risks" (which she never did). she literally told me i "chose not to listen" to what she said, yet i have notes of everything that was said and suggested to me so i didn't forget. so now, i don't have my pets, i'm out of $500, and the vet has literally no sympathy. go elsewhere and avoid Dr. K's insensitivity, lies, lack of consideration, and lack of accountability. your pets will thank you. read more

Since I can't give this review NEGATIVE 100 - I'll accept 1 for the sake that my review gets posted. Dr. K is NOT a doctor is not to be trusted. She is negligent, unprofessional, CLEARLY not educated in her field, and responsible for not one, but both of my leopard geckos to die days apart of each-other, after being in her care and under her instructions as a so called vet. I just hope it wasn't painful for them. Dr. K you failed me, you failed Erica, and you failed both of our leopard geckos. Within days apart, after your specific instructions were followed, they're now gone. The same way. When the only common possibility is your medicine and instructions. If there's anything you do know, or have, it's the nerve to after the fact - not only have no remorse but to furthermore LIE, BLAME US, and not reimburse us any of the vet bills - any of the money that you took from us - that costed them their lives. Dr Christine Kolmstetter was completely unprofessional and had zero empathy for me when she was responsible for the death of my two pets. She charged me over $400 for the medication she told me they needed just for them to pass away days later and she had to audacity to blame me for the death of my pet as I was grieving the lost of my babies and told me I didn't deserve a refund. Rather than admitting her wrongdoing she'd rather gaslight me and accuse me of not paying attention to them even though I did everything they told me I needed to do for them. If you want a vet that actually cares about you and your pets pls don't let this lady anywhere near you, she wants a check she doesn't care about you or your animals and she should be ashamed of herself. read more

I went to have my dog rechecked and have blood work performed for her anemia and was told the charge would be $57 for the exam and $63 for the blood work. They refused to do the bloodwork without having the exam performed. In addition, they also wanted to charge an extra $5 for what they called is a disposal fee which I felt was a total ripoff. When I asked if they could waive that fee they refused and were nasty. I was a customer for 2 years and walked out as a result because of the attitude they had. read more

This place is amazing. Jasmine up front is awesome. Shannon the nurse was kind and wonderful. The doctor (I didn't get her name) was AMAZING. everyone was so kind. I had a hard time finding some place to bring my sickly hamster to in, I called my vet who takes care of my animals and they refused to see me today, however I called and spoke to jasmine who said she wasn't sure she had enough time to see me today but asked anyways for me and literally within 10 minutes I was in and seeing the doctor. My hamster was sick and old and needed to be euthanized and then handled the whole situation with some much grace I can not express how grateful I am for them. read more

My experience with Vetco Sahara is nothing short of phenomenal. Dr. K helped my dog back from the brink of death; she wasn't eating or even drinking. We had been at completely different vet "hospital" the day before who refused to help me the next day... we were denied and only wanted a simple subcutaneous fluid fill - I only wanted to give my girl a chance to live. I called up this Vetco location and they got me in right away. Dr. K reviewed the paperwork I had from the other vet "hospital" and got to work helping us. I just found out that Dr. K is working here and I am beyond excited. I was told by a previous animal hospital that she retired and that was not true. I have worked with Dr. K since I was 16 years old and she treated my ferrets and I am now 40 and have followed her around to multiple animal hospitals because she is absolutely amazing. I could not recommend a better doctor than her. she is the most caring nurturing and compassionate veterinarian out there and she actually cares about your fur babies rather than just making Money. I can't wait to transfer my pets over here now that I know she is still around. I was heartbroken when the other place lied and told me she was retired. read more

Waste of money! I took my dog here because I could tell his back ear or neck looked swollen, and he was walking funny, and the vet was like, "He's fine. NOthing is wrong." Then they go over charges with me and added a full internal ear exam in the bill. I told them I didn't approve that before they did it and they took it off, so I didn't have to pay for it. Fast forward 5 days later, my dog can barely walk, his ear looked even worse. He was crying out when I touched him and he was collapsing on his back legs. I took him to another vet and he diagnosed him with a spinal injury. He also said that his ear was SOOOOOO Swollen and inflammed that it was practically closed OFF! How did VETCO miss this? Are you kidding me??? They gave him an ear exam! Worst experience ever! I can't believe my dog went 5 days with no care or medication for this. He's been suffering so badly. One of the stupidest things they do is examine your pet in a separate room so you can't even see what they're doing/not doing. When I went to the new vet, I was IN THE ROOM, helping to guide him with MY dog. Anyways, don't waste your money. read more

Wow! I must say I'm really impressed. I kind of expected this to be like the Banfields inside of PetsMart. In the past when we've had to visit a Banfield, the care isn't always great and they are always trying to "upsell" you on things. It feels like more of a business than a medical office. Anyway, my dog woke up feeling really sick with vomiting and I needed to get her seen asap. I've already given up on our old vet's office due to extremely long wait times and the inability to ever get appointments in a timely manner. I was kind of freaking out about what to do or where to take her when I remembered this place. I called in the morning and they were able to get me an appointment within a couple of hours. When we got there we were put into a room right away and didn't have to wait but a couple minutes for a vet tech to come and take vitals and the doctor followed shortly after. The exam was very thorough and not at all rushed. Even though we were there for an upset stomach, the doctor checked her ears, mouth, heart, lungs, and even under her tail LOL. Many vets don't do this as part of a "sick exam". I did not feel at any point that the doctor was pressuring extra services or anything like that. I asked about getting her nails trimmed since we were already there and she was badly in need and they did it complimentary which was awesome. Perhaps most surprising were the prices! Everything was very reasonable from the cost of bloodwork to the cost of medications. Much less expensive than other vets that we've been to. Afterward, the vet tech brought out our medications and went over everything step by step. The receptionist was extremely nice and accommodating as well. We will for sure not hesitate to use this vet again. It was great to get a same day appointment and get in and out of there so fast! read more
