I can't say enough positive praises about Highlands!! We have three fur babies in our empty nest. We've taken two of them here so far and they are so wonderful! The waiting room is large for spacing out pets. The pseudo exam room was such an excellent touch! It's a smaller waiting room off to the side. There aren't any exam tables in there, just a few seats and a big open floor where were able to sit down with the pets. The attendants and doctors come into the room for interactive exams but take the pets back to do any bloodwork etc. It's such a warm and welcoming alternative to traditional vet visits. They don't attempt to up charge you or mislead you in any way. They are very forthcoming and clear in their communication. All of our questions were answered comfortably and we truly trust them with our furry buddies' lives. read more

We were looking for a vet because we had just adopted a dog. It is our first dog ever and he was doing things I had never seen a dog do before and was really worried that he may have something stuck in his respiratory system. We easily made an appointment and my husband brought him in. The facility itself is clean, with plenty of seating to wait for your appointment. The people working here are friendly and really kind. Turns out there was nothing wrong with him, it was just something chihuahuas do when excited or nervous. After realizing that, he was given a check over and turns out he's a very healthy good boy. We had to come in again for a different issue a few months later and while the people working here were still friendly and nice, I felt that our concerns weren't really taken seriously. I will come back in again because of the first experience but I might change vets if our concerns are basically ignored again. read more

Amazing vets! The employees actually care about your fur baby!! We adopted a pit bull who was pretty skittish at first. This was our first vet attempt since the adoption. The moment we checked in, we were escorted to a private room. The nurse was kind and brought in one of the vets. I wish I remembered her name! She got down on the floor and really gave our baby comfort. He opened up to her instantly and kissed all over her face! The evaluation was thorough and informative. Have gone here for a year now. The actual in-clinic pet care is pretty good (7 out of 10), expensive, but good. That is after waiting long periods of time in the room while the tech and practitioner come in to finally do the exam. I was there for 2.5 hours last time. Not to mention that when it comes to medication and them actually organizing prescriptions (if they don't have it in house) has been a whole other problem. When they actually do get around to calling it in, days... , they charge a $15 fee to do so. The typical call hold times have been upwards of 10+ minutes... I will not be taking my dog here any longer, and if you value your time, you shouldn't either. read more

I called in a bit panicked because my cat had eaten a big piece of leek I had accidentally left in the sink after making soup. A quick Google search told me that leeks are highly toxic to cats, and I was expecting the worst. This is my second review for this amazing hospital. I am a vet assistant with a mobile company so I need a place to bring my own fur babies when procedures are needed. My French bulldog, Ferdinand, needed a dental cleaning with an oral mass removal as well as a subcutaneous mass removal. I had a bad experience last year at another clinic so I was anxious about this procedure. Highlands again blew me away with their level of care. Dr. Hussey listened to all of my concerns and we built a treatment plan together. The day of the procedure I felt relaxed and knew my guy would be well taken care of because Hailey, her technician, was so communicative and confident. I dropped him off around 8am and was able to pick him up at 1:30pm- fastest I've ever been able to do a pick up. Ferdy was quickly back to his ornery, opinionated self. The disrespect of customers time is outrageous. Every single time you call you are placed on hold for an unreal amount of time they have no respect for their customer's time. It needs to stop. Nobody should be on hold for 30 minutes you commit to calling them back or doing something to be customer friendly. I've been looking for a steady vet for a long time since my favorite vet retired. I swear we went to every vet near my area (downtown) and they either were terrible, or they would move! So I saw highlands on yelp and decided to bite the bullet and drive the 30-40 minutes based on all the good reviews. I'd say it was worth it. The staff is amazing. From the front desk to the assistants to the vets everyone is really competent and kind. My baby feels like the king of the world when he's there he told me)! The waiting room is fantastic. There are really nice private or private-ish places to sit so if you have a reactive dog at all it's literally no problem. Some of the rooms are set up like a living room so if your dog is nervous they will feel more comfy. My sweet baby angel was having a recurring UTI that I had been treating at an emergency clinic, with no success. Finally I see some progress at Horizon with different meds that they recommended. I'm also very pleased that they offer some holistic treatments and at home or even tele health visits. Totally worth the drive if you don't live close. read more

Although our reason for coming to Highlands Animal Care was heartbreaking as we had to put down our sweet old boy, Dougie, every aspect of the experience was gentle, empathetic, and caring. I've had to say goodbye to family pets many times in my life and I have never felt more cared for than this time. The staff at Highlands is so kind and empathetic, we never felt rushed or pressured to get through the process or as if we were inconveniencing a busy facility. The staff brought him a doggie snack tray to enjoy before the procedure and we were able to hold him in our arms and take our time saying goodbye. Dougie's last moments were full of love and care. We had our young kids with us and I was so worried the experience would be traumatizing but it was the furthest thing from. Our kids were able to say goodbye to their beloved boy while holding him in their laps and not once did they feel scared for him. They both commented on how peaceful and happy he seemed in his last moments. After hearing of my parents' positive experience with Highlands, I decided to fly my cat down from Seattle to get treatment here. I made an appointment with Dr. Amster, who shared she actually went through the same health issues with her cat; it was nice to talk to someone who's "been there." Dr. Amster immediately put my cat on a new diet and med plan, and outlined future milestones and timelines. During each interaction, Dr. Amster is very transparent, open-minded, and empathetic. She actively listens, is not judgmental, and is extremely personable. Not only has she built tremendous rapport with me, but has also built the rapport with my cat; Dr. Amster doesn't shy away from sitting with her on the floor, making the whole vet visit experience less stressful. I can tell Dr. Amster is invested and genuinely cares, which is so comforting after the previous run-around I've gotten. I will continue bringing my cat to Dr. Amster at Highlands. Yes, even if that means flying the 800 miles south to do so. I cannot thank Dr. Amster and the Highlands team enough for their patience and level of care, and I cannot recommend them enough. I called her and explained it wasn't and the only quote was from the front desk Long story short...I told her someone is lying and it's not me. Told her to review her cam footage to verify my story, oops silence, and she basically said Hyland is obviously not the right fit for me and they were canceling my account and go somewhere else. That's customer service today but I've seen many business go from the penthouse to the outhouse for not listening to the customer. Time will tell. I'm giving a two star because the staff there are wonderful and the place is clean. However me and my husband were there a couple weeks ago and that was the last time. The first visit, I had called ahead of time to get some prices and more information about services since my dog was in pain but was told that they couldn't give me that info over the phone, the only way was to make a consultation. Ok cool, no problem, we made an appointment. When we got there for our appointment we were late because the lot was full. Tried calling 3 times to inform them of the situation but no answer. We finally get put in an exam room, only to wait 45 mins until a nurse finally came in. We were clear with the nurse that we were needy parents and wanted to stay with our dog throughout the whole process as she does better with my husband especially with her being pain. We get taken to the back for some xrays and all is fine until I hear a lady with red hair screaming at the staff disrespectfully, she seemed to be one of the doctors?? who knows but I am a manager in the healthcare field and I would never talk to my staff the way she did. I'm sorry to the staff for dealing with that. So that already rubbed me off the wrong way. Fast forward to our second appointment, we got all of our previous vet records transferred over at the initial visit. When I looked over at the records I notice that she had some vaccines that were over due and even though it wasn't even mentioned at the time of the first appointment. I call again ahead of time asking for pricing for vaccines. Made an appointment because the prices seem somewhat reasonable... yea right. We get to our appointment and the wait is less this time so I'm thinking ok this appointment will be smoother. Come to find out that when we get presented with the estimate for the vaccines there is an additional charge that was not informed when I called. They charge a "LVT Wellness" to do vaccines which is $38 on top of it. We decided to just go through with it because we were already there and we didn't want our dog to go without those vaccines any longer. What was the cherry on top was that at check out, the reception was pushing on us to book her bi annual exam? When I asked why is it bi annually and not annually she didn't even know how to answer. Seems like they're just money hungry charging hidden fees with no clear communication whatsoever. Of course we declined and we left. All these positive reviews are most likely people that are getting treated differently because of their financial status and thats enough for me to look elsewhere. read more

My puppy was having some digestive issues, but remained happy, playful and very energetic. I didn't want to take him to his usual vet because they always push unnecessary tests, x-rays, procedures and products on us in an attempt to make extra money instead of doing what's best for the puppy. I took several hours to research every vet I could find in The Valley and finally came across this vet. The reviews are very good, so I called them to schedule an appointment. It was 3:30pm and the woman who answered the phone asked if I could be there with my puppy in 30 minutes to see the Vet. I was shocked, I didn't expect they would be able to get us in so quickly, as our old vet would've taken a week to see us. So we immediately jumped in the car and headed straight there. Due to traffic, we were a little late, but they still saw us. I was able to complete the new patient forms via their app. It was fast and easy. We met with Dr. Monaco. She was friendly and welcoming. She ended up giving my puppy antibiotics, probiotics, an anti-diarrheal and ran some labs for parasites. I asked for an additional lab for heart-worms, and they suggested an affordable package that also Included testing for all worms (heart, hook, whip, round, and flea tapeworms). She also suggested that we switch him to adult food now because the puppy food is high in fat. It's been one week now, and my puppy has completed almost all of his meds, he is back to normal and his digestive issues are good now. The office emailed me the results of the labs pretty quickly, he is negative for everything. Yay Me! It's only been one visit and so far I'm loving this vet. This is officially our new vet now. I love how Dr. Monaco listened to our issue and offered a more conservative treatment plan and approach. I can tell she puts the needs of the animal first, that is exactly what I was looking for. The vet and staff were so good with my pup. They stepped into action and clipped her nail down which gave her instant relief plus provided the antibiotics and pain relief medication which worked right away. Now she is happy, healthy, and back to normal. They recommend I have the nail cut down regularly or I can have her dew claw removed in the future. read more

You know the saying, "Pets are like your children?" Highlands Animal care proves it! When you walk in the front door, you immediately notice how incredibly clean it is. I love that the reception is in the middle of the room right in front of the doors ready to greet you with a smile on her face. There are cubby sections for you to sit with your pet. I love this because it allows you to sit privately if you need to without your dogs being on top of other dogs. However, I have never had the opportunity to actually try them out because we've always been taken back to our rooms right away. We have never had to wait for a room. Speaking of rooms, there are benches in each room that have obviously been cleaned. The floors are clean when you walk in. Right away, you'll notice that there is no metal table in the middle of the room for your pet to be placed upon; this is because , they believe in getting down to your pets level! To start off your visit, your pet's "nurse" comes in with her tablet. She sits on the floor and loves on your pet. Our dogs love Caity! She is incredibly friendly, yet manages to take accurate notes. Next, your vet comes in along with the nurse. Dr. Amster is just wonderful. Dr. Amster will sit on the floor and examine your pet all while your pet thinks she is the most important person in the room. (She is, of course!) our dogs never realize they're getting an examination because they are too busy eating up all the love and attention they are given. Meanwhile, the nurse continues to take notes on the tablet of everything that is going on. Nothing is missed. It is also very obvious that the vet and nurse work very well together. Personally we love the way Caity and Dr. Amster work together. While our well visits have always been wonderful, we have also experienced their services when it comes to emergencies. My mom's elderly schnauzer recently became ill. I immediately scheduled an appointment to bring her in. She ended up needing to have a fractured tooth extracted, and an infection cleaned up. Dr. Amster and Dr Jones stayed in contact the entire time my mom's dog was in surgery. We received both phones calls and text messages with updates. Once your visit is over, you are immediately emailed the medical records from your visit. I could go on and on about the wonderful care received here. Bottom line is this; if you are looking for a clinic where EVERYONE treats you AND YOUR PET with kindness and takes the time to get to know your pet, Highlands is the place you want to be. read more

Decided to go to Highlnds Animal Care after a handful of disappointments with my previous vet and I'm glad I made the switch. The facility is very nice, clean and welcoming. It feels like a spa! There's a shaded grassy area in the front too. It is definitely an upgrade from where I used to take my furbabies. The process from scheduling, through to the exam, and check out was seamless and easy. Everyone I encountered was very friendly, professional, and genuine. They showed a true passion for caring for animals. Dr. Aimee Jones was so genuine, kind and knowledgeable. She was thorough, prepared, and understood my dog's extensive history since I provided medical records for my pup ahead of time. Although my dog, Roma, gets anxious at the vet, she was comforted by the doc and tech, Jennifer. These visits are tough, especially since Roma is a senior dog and is going through it, but their compassion and service helps tremendously. They are transparent about cost and made sure that I was okay before moving forward with any procedures, were very happy to answer any questions and were clear about next steps. My partner and I recently moved from Summerlin to Henderson. We needed to find new care closer to home for our two fur babies. I found this place online with stellar reviews. I called, and explained on the phone we want the dogs established and to catch up on necessary shots. I know they were good on rabies, but couldn't remember what else they were due for. I provided the information to the appointment taker to contact our former vet so they can request the records. I was pleased that both dogs could be seen so soon and at a good time that fit our schedule. Upon arrival to our apppintment, we were seen quickly. The vet tech, Jennifer, was so bubbly, sweet and friendly. I could just tell she enjoys working with dogs and our fur babies were comfortable with her. We were told they had to call over to the former vet office to obtain information on what shots the dogs were due for. I thought this was already done prior, but luckily it wasn't a very long wait. Dr. Francher visited with both of our dogs. Dr. Francher seemed very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. We stayed in the same consulting room when visiting with both the tech and doctor. I like that it wasn't a cold, scary exam room. I felt the space provided a more welcoming atmosphere for our visit and our dogs felt at ease being with each other as well. One thing I also noticed is how both the tech and doctor were on the floor and interacted with the dogs. I thought this was a great way of connecting and something I've never seen before with other vet places. I love that. I'm really happy with the service here. It's always stressful trying to find a new doctor in general, even for myself, and we truly want the very best for our fur babies. I'm happy they got their wellness exams and they are caught up on their necessary shots. I live in Centennial Hills which could not be any further from this office. Unfortunately, the vets up near me were all out for the money grab and didn't seem to do what is in the best interest of the animals. Several months ago, the vet that I was going to really treated me horrifically when I had to make the difficult decision to put one of my pets to sleep. Mind you, that this was the second animal that I needed to put to sleep in 3 weeks which they knew about. Since that encounter, I never went back to that place. I looked around extensively to find another vet. Found another vet on Rancho and Cheyenne which looked quite good. Went there with another animal and the staff yelled at my wife. Additionally, their prices were outrageous. I never went back there either. I kept looking around for another vet and found Highlands Animal Care based on positive reviews. Made the appointment online and asked for a call-back. One of the girls quickly called me back and answered my additional questions. On the day of the appointment, I took 2 of my animals down to the clinic. The clinic was super clean. I was immediately greeted and the front desk person reviewed both of my animals history before putting us in a room. I didn't wait too long and the technician came in. She was very friendly and made the animals comfortable. A while later Dr. Boltz came in. She introduced herself and quickly got to work. She examined both animals and provided recommendations. She told me that nothing was needed for the dog and didn't even charge me even though she performed an exam. I elected for blood work and a biopsy for my cat after Dr. Boltz discovered something that she didn't like. Unfortunately, that night, my cat passed away. I believe that the stress from the car ride aspirated her condition which led to her passing. Dr. Boltz called me the next morning to check on things and she was practically in tears when I told her of my cats passing. She immediately refunded me for the biopsy since it no longer needed to be sent to the lab. A few days later, I was shocked to get a sympathy card in the mail. Most of the staff signed the card with a personal message! That made me feel so good that they really cared about my pet and I. Yesterday, I took two of my other animals to Highlands and once again I saw Dr. Boltz. She at no time rushed me through the appointment. She thoroughly examined both pets and recommended blood work to be done. This morning she called me and reviewed the results with me. Dr. Boltz is a very empathic and kind person. She is very knowledgeable and advised me things about my dog that 2 other vets missed. I highly recommend her. I have no issue making a 50 minute drive to this office since they really do seem to care about animals. Came here several times and spent a lot of money trying to find out why my puppy wouldn't eat. Instead of figuring out what was wrong, they just kept selling me expensive probiotics and such. We went and found a better vet and they figured out she has a malabsorption problem. We are waiting on biopsies now that will tell us what disease she has. All those months that she suffered because this vet wouldn't look into why a puppy would not eat and had constant diarrhea. I find that odd and I would never recommend this practice. read more
