Once you go through the security guards were very pleasant to ask if I knew where I was going. Of course I have been here before. Had to go see both the Charleston County Auditor and the Tax Office luckily they are in the same area so easy walk. Staff at both areas extremely nice and helpful. So 4 Stars just because I'm paying the state property taxes!!

The 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary is on a Saturday, so I visited to vote early as I have to work that day. You can call or request absentee ballots to mail back in advance, but I prefer in-person absentee, as I like the experience of voting. This was a lot like voting at a neighborhood polling location. The voting machines are new and modern, as our state just got new ones this year. You vote electronically, and you're given a receipt with your vote, which you slide through a machine, fold, and place in an envelope. This gives your vote a paper trail. Only Charleston County residents who are registered voters can vote in-person absentee here so if you live in Dorchester or Berkeley counties, you must vote in your county. Thanks for doing your civic duty that so many fought and died for, and don't forget your "I Voted" sticker.

I know I'm not alone. Almost every review is the same. I got up to her desk & was rudely told to go fill out a form. There were no pens anywhere so I asked for a pen and she glared at me and ignored me. A nice woman in line let me borrow her pen after noticing how crazy Rhonda was being. Once I made it up to her desk again, I was berated for ASKING FOR A PEN.....Rhonda gave me an attitude during every single step of my transaction, asked me to stop "yelling" when I was very calmly asking her to stop harassing ME and mail my package. She is a hateful human being. I do not have faith my package will make it to the destination. I've made 2 complaints via USPS today. I encourage everyone else to do it as well. I watched as she was extremely rude to 4-5 people before me. I don't care how hard it is to find workers, this woman deserves to be fired.

I didn't realize magistrate courts had juries until I recieved a letter that I was summoned for the…read moreNorth Area Small Claims Court. No one wants jury duty, but it sure beats being the person who is taken to court. Unlike circuit court, you only receive about two weeks notice of your summons. The summons notice had a number to call the day before to see if court was cancelled, and when I called, the recording was cancelling a case from December 2018. Since I had no restrictions or exemptions, I arrived at magistrate court before the 9 AM deadline on the date of my summons. The building itself is nice with ample free parking. You have to go through security, but they were nice and directed me to the magistrate's court area. Once I walked back there, some other jurors and I saw a dry-erase sign that our case was not going forward. While I really wish the recording had been up to date, I'm glad the conflict was resolved outside of court. Thankfully, it didn't take up too much time from my day and I just went back to work as usual. I do wish the recording was up-to-date as that would have saved me a 30 min round trip drive. If you have jury duty here, give yourself time to arrive, park, go through security, and find the area. The only places immediately close by for food are East Bay Deli and some fast food places, so it's pretty no-frills.
