They are so sweet. They listen to concerns and treat pets as if they were their own. Would definitely recommend!

Initially good. Described to the vet that out 16 year old beagle was having what I would call seizures. He would be up in the middle of the night, bump into things as if he lost his sight . Eventually things would seem to go back to normal. The vet said she had no idea what the issues were . He was prescribed some medications. I won't into the final outcome. read more

The front of the house staff is lovely, but after two extremely unpleasant visits with separate, we will not be returning. We thought the first incident may have been a fluke, but the other vet was just as condescending and cold. We have later learned from family and friends of similar disappointing experiences. Our first visit was to get a scan of our English bulldogs pregnancy. It's certainly not going to be our last. We live quite a good distance from this vet however I would drive hours , the staff and the doctors as well as all the employees are thru the charts awesome! The waiting area and all parts of the vet are beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. From the first phone call I could tell the whole office cares about animals and me as a pet owner. We are new to the area, so were THRILLED to find such a clean friendly and competent group to care for our fur-kids. Both for Boarding and vet care they are great and reasonably priced for the wide variety of services offered. Our lab, Daphne has frequent ear infections and so developed hematomas (blood clots) under the skin of her floppy ears from head shaking too much :-( They offered us surgery but with concerns for her safety and comfort in a multi-dog home with weeks in a cone, we opted for a trial of laser therapy to reduce the swelling. So I'm a big review reader... But rarely do I ever leave one. Looking at the other reviews for VMC, I feel like maybe I (or them) were having an off day.  I've been to VMC twice. They are not my regular vet. My first experience there I would have given a 5. My recent experience I would have given a 1 or 2, so I gave them a 3 overall. My first time visiting them was a few months ago. Sadly our senior dog was ready to be with God. The vet was sweet, professional and seemed to genuinely care. It took me at least 35min to get there (after My husband). They never rushed us or made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. We said our good byes and sent him off to be with God. Their facility seems top of the line and the rooms are "home like." the staff was very friendly and the vet was top notch. I'm thinking it was Dr. Bruce? To top it all off, a couple weeks later we received a paw print mold of Noah in a pretty sheer bag. Very thoughtful.  So what goes up, must come down I suppose. I came home the other day and can assume 2 of my dogs got into a fight. My older dog had a few puncture wounds, swelling on her chest and was unable to get up. I called my normal vet for an appt, but he wasn't going to be available until 6pm (it was around 5:05pm). My dog was stable but since she's old I figured I would take her in just to get the swelling checked out. I cleaned her wounds and she got up. I called VMC and they said they could see me around 5:30, so I decided to go there. I arrived A little after 5:30. Someone came out and told me it would be a little bit. I needed help getting my dog out of the car because I didn't want her to jump out. I waited for a little while and the lady came back out and brought my dog and me some water which was very nice. More time passes & finally a tech comes out and says I can wait in a room. She helps me get her out and we go into the examining room. She gets all the preliminary info and says the vet will be in. The vet comes in around 6:30. I'm thinking by this time I could have just seen my normal vet. Right away She (was not the vet from my first experience) had an expression that was not welcoming. I felt like I was inconveniencing her. Maybe she was having a bad day, I'll give her the benefit of doubt... But being in customer service & dealing with the public my entire life, I've learned that it doesn't matter how YOU'RE feeling... It's how you make your customer feel. So they do the exam, etc & bring her back & said they were going to prescribe a pain pill and an antibiotic. I've been dealing with dogs my entire life... I know the drill. The lacerations weren't bad and were cleaned while I was home. So up to this point I was already unhappy about everything, but here's the part that broke the camels back that prompted me to write this review.  They handed me 2 prescription bags. I briefly looked at them and saw 28.00 on one bag and I didn't even look at the other. I obviously assumed it was $28.00. You know.... ASSumed. The bill came to around $215. I thought it was for a last min appt so I paid it and walked out the door. I looked at the receipt and saw the one med was $100 something! People antibiotics are cheap, apparently not for dogs. 28.00 was the quantity. I didn't even make it go the car, I turned around and went back in. I told them I didn't realize it was so expensive and asked if I could return them. They told me they didn't know. I said OK... Is it because I walked out with them? If that was the policy then OK it's my fault I didn't check before leaving. I couldn't get a straight answer if I could return them or not. The older lady with a similar face to the vet started to say "it's an antibiotic.. It's to prevent infection which is why the vet prescribed it." I said "I'm very well aware of what an antibiotic is for... I also know how to care for the wounds, and how to know if an infection is starting and I could get antibiotics then." she said she'd have to go get the tech or whoever the vet assistant was. I explained it again to her and when I couldn't get a straight answer I said" IS IT MANDATORY I BUY THIS MED?! " She said nothing is mandatory, it's your choice. But let me go get the vet. So I wait. Again. And the vet comes out so I can explain ONE more time. She said it's highly recommended, blah blah blah. Finally she said how about you just take 1 weeks worth instead of 2 and that will cut the price in half. With no more energy to fight I said FINE. She took out the meds, ripped half of them off and walked away. No bye, no thank you, no "go get hit by a car," nothing. They refunded my card $50 (which I had to wait for) and I left. The young girl at the counter was very pleasant. This happened on Friday and they did call Sunday to see how my dog was doing which was professional.  I won't be going back, although Dr Bruce was phenomenal. read more

Everyone at the clinic cares about the animals I love working with Dr. Tanis she takes the time to learn about my animals discussing their lives so we can have a plan to make their lives the best possible. When my Bug was very very ill I received check up calls all the time making sure I didn't have any questions and checking to make sure both the vets and I were on same page in his recovery. Luckily he is doing great and I see VMC staff out in the community and they all ask about him. Animals are not just another patient there VMC knows how important our furry family members are and treat them with that importance I highly recommend everyone in the practice read more

VMC's vets and staff have been very responsive to our needs, very professional and thorough in their care, and very compassionate towards our pet. They get to really know the "patient," which allows them to provide excellent care without unnecessary tests and procedures. read more

I took my guinea pig here for an emergency visit the other day. When you have small animals, the instant they show signs of an illness it means that they've been sick for a while but have been hiding it. When I came downstairs the other morning and saw one of my guinea pigs laying on the bottom of the cage and unable to move her hind legs, I knew it was an emergency. My regular vet's office couldn't get us an appointment until late, but I called Veterinary Medical Center and they saw us right away. A tech and a doctor ushered us right in and saw my guinea pig immediately. They checked her out really well and explained to me how she was most likely feeling and assured me she wasn't in pain, just disoriented. They explained the possible causes of the condition and explained the treatment plans for each. I felt like they really cared about my lil' pig. I've heard that this practice is a bit pricey, but I felt the charge for the visit was reasonable. The vet herself called the next day to see how my guinea pig was doing, and I was happy to report that she was much better. I also felt the facility was very clean and roomy - the waiting room was especially large and arranged in sections, which is great if you have a dog like mine that wants to get in the face of every other dog that comes in. Also, they said they can mail prescription meds, which is great for me since I live about 45 minutes -1 hour away. Overall, I had a great experience here and recommend this practice. read more

We Have Been Taking Our Dogs Here Since We Moved To The Eastern Shore In 2009! I Can Not Say Enough About This Office, We Love Our Dogs As Much As We Love Our Son! Whatever They Need We Do! My Mini Dachshund Ate A Pacifier And Was In Their Care For About A Week, They Always Kept Us Updated And Helped Her Everyway Possible. When She Came Home She Was Happy And I Know Very Well Taken Care Of! Our Lab Mix Was Taken There For An Emergency Visit For Coughing, Unfortunately We Found That He Had Cancer...We Were Heart Broken But They Did Everything They Could To Explain What Was To Come And Comfort Us As Much As Possible. Unfortunately He Had To Be Put Down A 2 Days Later Because He Was Rapidly Getting Worse, They Were There Every Step Of The Way And The Doctor On Call That Morning At 3am Was Very Comforting To My Husband That Had To Take Chance There By Himself Since Our Son Was Sleeping. We Continue To Take Our Dogs There Because Of The Great Service Provided But Also Because They Are A Truly Caring Staff, That Treats Every Patient As Their Own. Thank You For All You Do. read more
