I ordered a piece of art from this gallery around the 19th. of October. This was after looking at…read moreit for over a week and communicating with them (with no problems on delivery) via e-mail. They were very prompt and polite in responses. Even to the point of sending me close up photos of the painting without my asking for the pictures. Based upon this response, I was comfortable and ordered the painting. Mailed a check on the 20th. of Oct. It cleared my account four days later. Three weeks passed....no painting. I finally e-mailed and asked what was going on....after two days, I got a response that it would ship the next Monday! I e-mailed and told them to cancel the order and send me a refund. They apologized and suggested our e-mails got caught in each others Spam folders. Funny, none of the e-mails prior to the purchase got caught in Spam folders. And, I check my Spam and Junk folders every day....so nothing got caught. They just didn't ship it. Finally they agreed to send me a refund. That was over a week ago. No check. Today I asked what happened to my refund. Oh, it hasn't been mailed yet, but will be before the end of the month! Wow...they get to keep my money for five weeks, never ship the painting (until I asked where it was) then drag their feet on refunding my money! I'm close to having my attorney contact them. I buy art all year long from numerous galleries and artists. I have never been treated like this. Ever.

It was well worth the $15 to avoid going anywhere, and having a kind stranger bring me a bag laden with incredible Jewish specialties. I skipped breakfast to save my appetite so by the time it arrived I was too hungry to take a delivery pic and needed a fresh New York bagel with cream cheese, lox, and capers immediately. The bagel was as perfect as they come, the salmon so fresh, and I was transported. Next up, I stacked some incredibly fresh and flavorful corned beef and pastrami on the softest, freshest, most fragrant rye bread I have ever enjoyed, slathered it with that good spicy deli mustard, piled some tangy-sweet vinegar slaw on and found myself verklempt with utter joy. I have a New York deli in my very own kitchen. Looking forward to enjoying this homey-looking matzo ball soup with this adorable braided loaf of challah bread, and the knishes with some more of this mustard. But first I have a hard choice: is it bagel time or is it sandwich time? Or is it bagel sandwich time?! Whatever I choose, thanks to Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim, it will be a blessing. There were also activities for children, tours of KKBE's historic property and live entertainment provided. It was nice to check out the various foods and enjoy them on Second Sunday downtown in Charleston. The cabbage rolls were hot, and yummy. There were delicious tempting sweets we admired, and took home some challah bread. The area of Hassell street was blocked off so everyone could eat and enjoy. First time for us checking out this event, and we would definitely go again.

This was my first time doing the King Street Shop Walk. This was the fifth annual and to be…read morehonest, I'm a bit surprised as I thought there were some kinks that would've been ironed out by now. The whole event runs from 5pm until 9:30ish. There's no way that I could get to the check-in at 5pm. I work downtown and I had to run home to Mt. Pleasant first and so after getting through some major traffic, I wasn't able to meet my friends until 6:40pm. I didn't realize at the time, but this didn't leave much at all time for actual shopping. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to hit even a fraction of the shops I wanted to. So the way this is billed is for $15 (if you buy online, $20 at the door), you get a bunch of discounts/freebies from over 60 participating stores and restaurants. Additionally, there'll be FREE champagne and other drinks, food, entertainment, make-overs (make-up and hair consultations), and entertainment. With that description, I think my expectations may have been set a little too high. PROS: - I think for the most part, the discounts/freebies are good enough to warrant the $15 price tag - There wasn't an overwhelming number of people participating so stores weren't as crowded as we might have imagined. - I really like that these are local shops participating and it allows me the opportunity to check out stores I normally wouldn't. - I was thankful they allowed my friend to pick up my information packet since I was running late. CONS: - Unless you can get there at 5pm, there's not a lot of time devoted to actual shopping. - Providing a schedule of some sort online would've been beneficial. I had no idea about the raffle drawing or when the event would be over when I went to purchase my ticket. - They should have a sign/stickers on doors of shops that are participating. It would've made it a lot easier to just walk down King Street, then to constantly consult the passport booklet. - It should've been noted somewhere which shops were giving additional raffle tickets. We asked one person who rang us up if they had raffle tickets and they replied "Um...I don't know, I don't think so." - I imagine the food/drinks offered were up to each store, but I wish there were more offerings since we were starving and didn't leave the event until close to 9:30pm. Colonial Candle had an awesome spread, while most stores didn't offer anything or nothing more than a drink and/or cookie (or something similar). - Skip the "after party" and continue shopping until 9pm or in the very least, get there at 8:30 (when the raffle actually started). It was crowded, it took entirely too long to get through the drink line (you get a free drink ticket for a beverage of your choice), there wasn't enough seating and hors d'oeuvres were gone by the time we got through the drink line. I heard a handful of people exclaim an expletive and then leave because the line was just too daunting. If it were me, I would've sent a couple of workers out with trays of a special mixed drink that people in line, if they choosed, could redeem with their ticket. All of us in my group of 5 would've been totally down with that. - Despite there being a microphone, it was hard to hear the people who were doing the raffle prizes from the back of the room. We had to really listen intently to try to hear if our names were called. - On the website's FAQ section it says: "Parking is terrible downtown. Any suggestions? Yes - we've got you covered! A parking voucher for two hours of FREE parking in the city garages is usually available." If I had checked myself in, I would've asked about this but still, this is a very vague answer that provides basically no useful information. "Usually?" How does this help me? I parked at a city garage on Beaufain and, crossing my fingers, I asked if they provided the free 2 hour parking and of course I got a big, fat "nope." I paid $9 for parking. Ouch. Despite the handful of things that annoyed me, I did have fun and I probably will do it again but at least now I know what to expect. I think it's a really great idea and just making a few slight changes would make a huge difference! Hopefully event organizers take note of these for next year.

About time a school has plenty of parking. third, the inside is super clean and well taken care of. The gym area is humongous! Really cool wood floor just like a gym should have! They also have a spirit store and snack area as well, which is a great way to make some extra money and keep down outside food. This is going to be the foundational building for the new school which is being built beside this building. First Baptist has always had a good reputation in the area and moving most of its students off the peninsula must have been hard, but there isn't any parking downtown! Ahhhh! I was able to attend a play put on by the students in a side area which has a nice big stage and recording equipment. Well done kids! Very professional, would attend others here. Of course no review would be finished unless I mention the restrooms, yep they were super clean and nice smelling even after being used by teenagers! If you have a chance to attend any events here you will be pleased!
